Should old things be made new?

A question I pose to you all that many of you will debate. Many movies made in the past that most of us may or may not consider to be original, have been re-made in our present time with the intentions to surpass it's original version. Rather the director claims that an original movie was good in it's time, but not great because it had severe flaws due to the lack of technology, or lack of real authentic fighting scenes. Movies are re-made for a reason.

As children many of us have fell in love with the lore of Star wars from the original movies we all grew up on ultimately leading us all here to this place today, but from childhood most of us now view some older movies a little differently now... don't we? You see children are not good judges of what looks fake and what looks real. And most children do not criticize the choreography of impactful fight scenes within movies either. So... Now that I have your attention, here is my question. Should the movies of Star wars episodes 4, 5, and 6 be re-made to compliment episodes 1, 2, and 3, or should they be left alone?

I'd leave them alone. As cool as they would be with present technology, it's always fun to see the quirks of the old.

Case in point:

If a movie was good enough to warrant a remake, that generally means it is good enough to be left alone.

With films that character specific, I think it would be really difficult to find a new Luke skywalker, a new princess leia, etc. Also, I don't really see a problem with any of the choreography of the original films. It doesn't feel as overdramatic as I'm sure Lucas would make it feel if he had the budget and bad idea to do it again.

They already digitally remastered them. Good enough for me.

The originals should not be remade to compliment the prequels. The prequels should've been made to compliment the originals, which they failed at doing.

That is a good point as well as a typical outcome. When do movie creators ever not fail in their attempts to link a prequel or a sequel. Just ask Michael Bay. :CNot

Well some films benefit from a remake a la Ocean's Eleven or True Grit.

I liked your more vague thread title question better. This should be moved to the Star Wars section.

In regard to your current question: Only if the entire series was remade and years down the road.
