Remote Junkyard, Jedha
The rebels had taken over the junkyard, turning it into a sort of makeshift repair facility for their various ships, the abundance of parts and materials making it an unorthodox yet ideal site. Star Squadron had been here as well, though most members had dispersed recently to handle business of their own. But Alys had stayed behind, having waited for her various friends and contacts to slowly bring in all her ships to enable her to do what she had planned.

The Silverwing, The Grinning Liar, and the much smaller Moondancer were scattered around the vast open desert outside the junkyard, a bunch of mechanics running in and out, Alys having given them all away to various rebel squads and pilots. But what she had done before doing that was pull out a bunch of upgrades and improvements she had installed on the various ships, and had slowly and carefully floated them all over to the brand spanking new Jai'galaar-class Starfighter that was sitting all alone off to the side.

She had recently acquired the Mandalorian straighter, having fallen in love with them during one of her visits to Mandalorian space with Valentine. It had taken her some time, but she had finally acquired one, and not she was ready to begin working on adding her own personal touch to the ship. She was yet to pick a name for it, but she was sure once she was done something would come to her. For now, she was just happy to be getting her hands dirty again, for a time forgetting about everything else as she let the ship in front of her become the center of her world.

"Alright girl, let's make you pretty, shall we?"

Having spent most of his time recently on Endor training, the dry air of Jedha was a nice change of pace.

Liam was going off duty from patrolling the areas around the junkyard. The rebels had set up shop and had a lot of equipment here to guard. Today, like most had been rather slow.

He had been spending his evenings in a local bar with some of the other soldiers, they were a good group, they were his brothers and sisters but tonight he found himself wanting to be elsewhere.

There were usually rebels who would be mulling about the junkyard repairing their ships before heading back out again. Hoping to pass his time lending someone a hand he changed out of his armor in a dirty white long sleeve shirt and a pair of pants and made his way back out.

It was hard not to spot the spotless starfighter off by itself. It seemed out of a place in a place like this. He approached, seeing the woman he recognized as one of the more senior Jedi's in their Order. He still didn't know much about them, but he knew they could fight better than most and was glad to fight alongside them and not against them.

He whistled as he approached. "She's a beauty." he said looking over the ship. "You need a hand?" he asked. A rebel had to be good at along of things, often repairing their own equipment, as such he had become a half decent mechanic during his time in the Alliance but he wouldn't press the issue.

Alys was about to begin working on installing the hyperdrive upgrades when the rebel soldier wandered over, and in another stroke of brilliant foresight Alys had not given thought to how she would do some of these installations on her own. So his offer for help came at a most opportune moment.

Straightening up from the fighter, wiping away sweat from her forehead with the forearm of her cosmowrench wielding arm. "Ahh.." She began as she looked around at the equipment scattered around the ship and the work ahead of her, "I could actually, a hand would be very much appreciated." she tossed the cosmowrench to him as she bent down and picked up another one for herself from the tool box. "Mind giving me a hand pulling his old hyperdrive core out and installing this new one? I have a feeling this might cut my hyperdrive jump times in half."

Using the cosmowrench as a pointer, she would gesture towards the hyperdrive core she had pulled out from the Grinning Liar and hoped to install onto the new fighter. As they would begin working on the installation, she would begin making conversation to get to know the kind soul who had offered to help her. "I'm Alys by the way. Alysanne really, but Alys is much less of a mouthful." She might have grown from a runaway girl to Jedi Knight, but she still had a tendency to talk too much from time to time.

"Great." he said as accepted the offer for help. He caught the wrench and pushed the sleeves of shirt up. He walked up to the hyperdrive and looked it over before starting the work of removing the old core.

Even the old core was better than most of the stuff he had worked on. Most rebels weren't dealing with all that great of equipment, to begin with, and they weren't exactly being gentle with their gear in most scenarios.

He finished with the last of the bolts that held the core in place. He turned it clockwise until he heard a click and slowly pulled the old core out. "Nice to meet you, Alys." he said with a smile. "Liam Vos." he said giving his own name.

He gently set the core aside, even if it was being replaced he was sure it would get used somewhere. He would continue to help with the installation as he talked. "So where do you get your hands on this." he said placing a hand on the hull. "...Unless they pay Jedi a lot more than they do us common folk," he said letting out a laugh.

Alys nodded and smiled as Liam offered his own name in response to her greeting. As they began working on the ship, moving from one component to the next, Alys started falling into the calmness that overcame her whenever she was occupied with tasks such as these.

"Heh!" A short amused chuckle escaped her lips as Liam mentioned the possiblitt of her earning more than the average rebel, if only. "No, nothing like that. My former Master had connections with the Mandalorians. I was able to use that to get my hands on this. Say it's more of a lifelong lease than a urchase."

With the hyperdrive installed, she would move the work onto the next step, the power core, this one in a way even more critical than the previous one as she would rely on it to power all the crazy upgrades she was installing on the little mandalorian ship. It would have been really difficualt installing the piece on her own, but with another pair of hands there to help it went a whole lot easier.

"So, Liam. How did you end up with the rebellion?" She hadn't grown up in the real Galaxy, as sheltered and protected as her childhood had been, so she was very curious to learn about the lives the other rebels had learnt to get where they were. She came to know of the true state of the Empire and the Galaxy through their tales. It helped ground her, teach her what she was fighting to fix.
