Mau started to argue, but stopped. They were going to locate her ship... harmless and relatively easy. Supposedly.

"Agreed. Your ship is more... suitable for the task."

The fighter is short range, but she may have used a hyperspace ring, unstable tech but useful.

*She saw the look of confusion on his face at the mention of the ring and explained.*

The fighter isn't capable of hyperspace travel on it's own, but with the ring I developed that has the hyperspace engine on it, it can go a few parsecs. That your ship?

A few parsecs in any direction would be quite a large search area. The sensors on his ship were quite sensitive, but even they couldn't cover that range.

"Well let's hope that this hyperspace ring that you mentioned is not a factor here," Rayz said. "Yeah, the Neimoidian Shuttle is mine."

Rayz was quite nervous about helping this woman, but hopefully her ship was in orbit around Tatooine, and this could all be over soon.

He gave Mau a look that he hoped she would understand. He meant for the gaze to say, I could use your help with this.

"Okay, let's see if your ship is in orbit then. Hop in," Rays said.

Mau returned Rayz glance with a scowl. She was going to help him, but only for him. She didn't like this one bit, and she made sure it was readable in her glare.

"Great. The sooner this is done the better..."

~N'veris reached the Hangar and entered. She knew her time was short, the denizens were soon to leave if she did not act soon. Pausing by the control panel for the door she just used a smile crossed her face, like all electronics this panel was fed by the same source that wound its way through the entire hangar... If something were to affect it... She pulled off her glove and placed her fingertips on the panel. She calmed her breathing and focused. True stopping flowing electrons wasn't quite like deflecting blaster bolts or hurling objects with your mind but the principle was the same. Reaching with her mind she traced the source of power back along the wires to the main circuit box, once there she forced a resistance to grow until sparks flew from both the box and the panel shorting out the entire building and bringing darkness to all of it.~

"Ah yes, Much better. I do so like to announce my presence." She purred and walked into the now dark hangar.

*As the lights went out Masuko cursed under her breath and then lipped the visor over her eyes. She flicked through the spectrums until she reached night vision and scanned the hanger. She saw someone by the control box and tapped Rayz on the shoulder.*

We got trouble Rayz.

Rayz thought to himself 'greeeeeat'... Things just kept getting more and more difficult for him while trying to leave this hangar. He found it strange that his exit from Tatooine was proving to be more difficult than his actual task that he came to the planet to take care of.

Closing his eyes and concentrating, Rayz again sensed the life in the hangar. There was Mau and Masuko/Shadow, but the lifeform he had detected earlier had entered the hangar, and had apparently been the cause of the blackout.

"What are you doing here, and What do you want from us," Rayz shouted at whoever it was who turned off the lights and disabled the hangar door?"

Rayz began to think that perhaps he should have left things to be instead of approaching and questioning Masuko/Shadow about Xin...

Mau squinted in the darkness, completely blind and not much liking it.

"This just keeps getting better and better..."

~N'veris smiled, their notice of her pleasing to her in a way. The question of the Zabrak brought a chuckle from her, it echoed along the width and breath of the hangar. The click of her heels only added to the unnerving sound.~

"Behold a pale horse: and her name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with her... Give unto me that which is mine and Death will turn aside from you this day."

*In truth they had nothing she wanted but they did not know this. Fear is born of confusion and doubt. She stretched forth her hand, light blossoming in the palm. Her fingers curled slowly upward, arcing plasma danced from the tips to the blossoming node of light bringing illuminance to the Hangar, albeit dim flickering light. The radiance did not bring warmth or even reassurance, it would cause those eyes that gazed upon it to ache and throb. An Ill light, much like an Ill wind foreshadowed only suffering.*

As Masuko and Mau stood beside him, Rayz concentrated solely on the eerie voice eminating from the other side of the hangar. Using his eyes, the flickering of light coming from her general direction made it difficult to judge exactly where she was and what she was doing. Using his mind however, allowed him to pinpoint exactly where she was. He had never sensed anyone even similar to what he was feeling from her. Although she was only one against three, she seemed almost excited to entice a fight.

Rayz didn't think that she could possibly be one formerly employed by Butar who was now after that which he and Mau had taken from his fortress, but if she was, he certainly wasn't yet willing to part with it. Really though, Rayz had little else in his posession of any value.

"That which we have is rightfully ours," yelled Rayz, "and we will not hand it over so easily!"

The tension in the hangar grew quickly, and Rayz sensed that this situation would soon come to a head. He slowly reached toward his blaster in preparation for the trouble that he knew would soon occur. Although he couldn't see them, Rayz assumed that Mau was also ready to defend against this aggressor, and he could only hope that this new acquaintance Masuko was ready to do the same.

The plasma dancing from the fingers of the female form at the far side of the hangar was almost magical, and this woman was obviously quite powerful, but Rayz was not going to make it easy for anyone to take anything from him. What he really needed to do was restore power at least to the hangar doors so he could get his shuttle out. Then he could fly into orbit with Masuko and Mau, drop Masuko off at her ship, and begin his decision on what to do with his newly free life. Unfortunately for him though, this mysterious woman would need to be dealt with first. The group anxiously waited for her to make the first move...

*As the light grew stronger Masuko's visor compensated, she was able to see past the light and into the face of this new threat. She watched in puzzlement, all the time she could feel Shadow in the back of her mind wanting for nothing more than to kill Rayz, Mau and the new one. It was becoming incresingly harder to hold Shadow back, she had to get out of there right away. She moved as fast as she could and jumped into the fighter. Pulling the cockpit closed she stared up the engines and targeted the exit hatch.*

You guys might wanna take cover!

*She shouted over the comm just before she used the blaster cannon to blow a hole in the hanger exit. It took three shots to make it big enough for the fighter to get through and within seconds she was gone.*

*Almost a whisper and not quite a call N'veris speaks to the rapidly departing woman that held within her the one called Shadow*

"Hearken to my words Child of Darkness, awaken and take back what thou hath claimed. I entreat thee beckon to thee for in my service thou canst find all the power to which thou could dare cleave."

*She looks at the remaining two, her chuckle rises once more*

"Three little waywards not knowing what to do, one ran away and then there were two..."

*The plasma field in her hand flares arcing to a nearby electric hoist. The energy enwreaths it bringing it to life as the motors wildly spin before shorting out in a cascade of sparks and lightning. Her laughter at this grew as she started to walk forward once more.*

Rayz was somewhat startled by Masuko's hasty departure, but at the same time, he was somewhat thankful that there was one less person to worry about at the moment. Unfortunately though, the hole that she'd blasted in the hangar door, although the perfect size for her small fighter, was far too small to fit through the same hole. Rayz was sure that he could enlarge the hole in the doors enough with the weapons on his shuttle, but he would certainly need a distraction to allow time for both he and Mau to board his ship and make their escape. Rayz grabbed his blaster with his right hand, and reached for a concussion grenade with his left. As he did this, he saw Mau prepare herself for the confrontation as well.

Just a fraction of a second before Rayz was about to jump in to action, the Loading dock door from the city burst open, and a group of local soldiers burst through the door. Rayz guessed that the port authority had signaled for help when this commotion began. Either that, or the soldiers investigating the incident at Butar's stronghold had tracked him down more quickly than expected. Either way, Rayz felt this was the very distraction he needed to make an escape.

"Everyone stay where you are, and we'll get this all sorted out as quickly as possible," yelled the lead official!

The other soldiers spread themselves about the entrance to gain a tactical advantage over the other three occupants of the hangar. The lead official approached the woman stranger first, and Rayz prepared to toss his concussion grenade and make his excape.

~Fury fills the gaze of N'veris, once again the basic unpredictability of humanity forestalls her goals. As the lead officer comes within reach she lashes out with the hand that held the plasma trying to clamp it over his forehead and discharge the energy fed by her anger into his flesh, she wanted to roast him from the inside out, leaving nothing but a shell.~

"Interferance carries a costly burden, human." She growls.

The rest of the soldiers all but forgot about Rayz and Mau, and they began to advance on the woman who had charred their leader with her strange powers. Not wanting to hinder their ability to distract this woman, Rayz pocketed the concussion grenade he had in his hand, grabbed Mau by the shoulder, and hurried her in to his shuttle. They sat quickly in to the cockpit and Rayz prepared to fire on the damaged hangar door. To his dismay however, it seems as though the electrical disturbance eminating from the strange woman had shorted out a few of the onboard computer systems.

"Damn," exclaimed Rayz as he quickly got up to repair them. He much preferred to pay someone else to keep his shuttle in the finest of condition because he wasn't exactly the most mechanically handy with things such as this, but he did know his way around the basic systems though, so all he could do was hope that he'd be able to at least be able to get the ship functional enough to enable them to leave orbit, where more care could be dedicated to getting the ship back in perfect working order. He knew that time was short until the guards had been dealt with.

"May fortune favor the bold," he quietly whispered to himself, as he pulled the access panel in the shuttle open.

~She cast aside the spasming shell and glared at the advancing troops. The desire to destroy them all rose in her, destruction on a grand scale filled her imagination, a world laid to waste as testiment to her power and warning to those that would interfere in her plans gleamed like a beacon in her minds eye but prudence won out. She could not reveal herself so soon, she needed things done quietly first, as much as it galled her she would have to leave the field of battle this day. She stepped back, plasma forming in her hands again but not the eerie half-light energies of before instead this time she brought into being the bright plasma of a star's heart in all its radiance.~

"Count well your blessings this night children, remember always you were spared when Death walked among you, Bright though the light may be, fear its fading because Death will come anon and you will feel its numbing caress."

*The sphere of plasma exploded in a cacaphony of light and wind though lacking any damaging effects save temporary blindness and buffeting. With that she was gone, the Hangar left behind.*

Mau was quick to join Rayz at the acess panel, gazing at it with a critical eye.

"Do you have any idea what you're doing?" She asked, unable to keep a bit of snappishness from her tone. She wanted to get out of here, and fast. That meant repairing whatever the problem was. And judging from the look on his face, he needed help.

Rayz, feeling slightly insulted by Mau's remark, defensively replied, "yes, I know what I'm doing... Sort of..."

He didn't like to admit that there was anything that he was not excellent at doing, but if there was one thing that he found difficult, it was making repairs to his ship. He tried as best as he could to at least appear as though he was being helpful. In reality though, he was simply fiddling about in the panel while intently watching what Mau was doing.

Soon after, the systems in the shuttle sparked to life. The soldiers in the hangar were beginning to come to, so Rayz and Mau decided that it was certainly time to get going. After quickly taking a seat in the pilot's chair, Rayz fired the main cannons, completely obliterating the remnants of the damaged hangar door. A few blaster bolts fired by the soldiers were deflected off the rear of the shuttle as they left, but no harm was done, and Rayz and Mau were finally on their way out from Tatooine with all their newly found riches in tact.

As they left orbit, Rayz realized that now that the task was over, Mau would probably like to simply be dropped off wherever it is that she planned on going. Over the course of the last few days though, she had become a close, trusted friend to him, and he would be quite sad to see her go. Although they made quite a team, he decided that it would be best to at least offer to take her wherever it was that she'd like to go, whether it be somewhere with him... or not...

"So now that we've had a little fun on Tatooine, where to next," Rayz asked? "I figure that I owe you one for helping me to get that slug off my back and for giving me a hand fixing my shuttle in a rush (Rayz said this knowing that it was actually entirely Mau's work that got the shuttle running again). I'd be more than happy to give you a hand in anything you needed one in, or I can drop you off wherever you please."

Mau reclined in her chair, shrugging lazily.

"One place is as good as another." she remarked, gazing over at him solemnly. Though she didn't like to admit it, she had grown accustomed to the Zabrack's pressence. She trusted him in an odd way... and a bit more than she liked. It was confusing yet pleasing all in one.

And she wasn't entirely sure that was a good thing.

"But I suppose... I suppose it is time for us to part ways. I have work to find, and you... have whatever it is you do." She smiled softly. "It's been fun, I'll grant you that."

Rayz certainly couldn't argue with her logic. Attachment was a dangerous trait in this line of work, and in addition to that, it also lessened possible job profits.

He handed Mau a datapad. "Here is the address of my apartment on Couriscant. I try to stop by there every couple of weeks or so. If you're in the neighborhood, or if you need any help in causing trouble of any kind, please don't hesitate to drop me a line, and I'll get back to you as soon as I get the message," Rayz said while showing a sly grin. "I'd planned on heading back there now to restock my shuttle and drop off my new... toys... You're more than welcome to hang around as long as you'd like. Should you like to head somewhere else, it's certainly not difficlut to find transport to anywhere from there either."
