DESCRIPTION​

When the Galaxy goes to war, companies rush to fill the demand when it comes to warships. In the last few decades, the fragile peace of the Galaxy had been shattered time and time again - and that meant that the warship market was open for business once again. The SC-32 "Screw" Frigate was designed and created by Starfeld Industries and was not specifically marketed toward any specific buyers. With the Republic, the ISC, the Empire, the Mandalorians and Syndicates all having their own dedicated shipyards and designers, it was seen as foolish to attempt to market the product to overly saturated markets.

Instead they put 'The Screws' out to the wider market.

Would they sell to the big factions of the Galaxy? Happily. Would they sell to the large corporations looking to haul large amounts of cargo in the highest level of security? Absolutely. The end result is that the SC-32 "Screw" Frigate can be found in all areas of the Galaxy, particularly in planetary defence fleets of smaller worlds and Outer Rim worlds as an affordable counterpart to some of the off-runs of the bigger corporations production runs.

As a ship, the SC-32 "Screw" Frigate was equipped with a lot of equipment specifically designed to keep the crew inside comfortable while the ship spins - with the bulk of its weaponry along the front length (the 'screw' part), this tactic is often used to rotate weapons to avoid overheating while allowing a near continuous barrage of fire. The weaponry being based entirely at the front half of the ship is, however, a notable weakness and SC-32 "Screw" Frigates are often found as part of wolfpacks of frigates and corvettes because of this, often with support carriers providing fighter screens.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. SC-32 "Screw" Frigates are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT​

Intent is to bring in another example of a lumbering-style frigate that can be made accessible to any faction while avoiding looking overly Imperial or too Republic-adjacent.

RESTRICTIONS​

Yes. SC-32 "Screw" Frigates are large capital ships, therefore these that cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. A faction would be required to obtain and crew a ship of this size.
