PERSONALITY:
He is calm and sure of himself almost all of the time, rarely panicking. He is battle hardened, life in the military having given him a cold, dry wit in the face death and battle. His troops tend to idolize him; he is the military personified. He know loss, and has learnt to deal with it, never showing sadness in front of troops. He has never loved since he was young.
HISTORY:
Born to a wealthy family on Alderaan, his father was a famous Echani general. Sadly, he was killed in action while Ryan was only 7 years old. Growing up a lot of the time without his mother too, who was a successful diplomat, he missed his parents greatly. As a young child he spent a lot of time with his neighbour and her daughter, Amy, who was a year younger than him. When he was fifteen, he and Amy began dating. He felt for her deeply, and it was the only regret he had when he first joined the military. Being in great physical condition, being quite clever and having money he was admitted into the Officer Training academy.
He excelled initially, being transferred for training as an officer in the elite forces. He was eventually granted the rank of Under Officer and permitted to go on easier missions as a kind of hands-on training. When these were completed he would graduate from the Officer Corps and enter into a commando unit. His squad of four Under Officers was taken out with Captain Balsho, to the initial engagements with Sith forces. They swiftly became known as one of the best in the Corps. Within a year he graduated and began the 2IC of a commando unit in the war, at the young age of eighteen, coincidentally the IC was Captain Balsho. For two years they performed consistently well, Ryan being award medals for bravery and short-listed for promotion. Then he had to deal with his first loss. On a search and destroy mission on a Sith capital ship, his mentor, the closest thing he had to a father, was struck down by a Sith Acolyte. The rest of the squad however, who the Sith had not taken into account, opened up on him. His burnt corpse unrecognizable from their assailant, Ryan sent a clear signal of how he felt. With only a minute to evacuate before the ship exploded, the squad fled. However as they left a Sith Knight, who was master to the Acolyte they had killed, pursued them. They made to the hanger bay as the ship began to explode. As they piled into a dropship, someone flicking on the engines, the Knight launched himself at the ship. He managed to curse them as he fell from the retracting ramp, vowing revenge on Ryan. They escaped as the ship exploded.
He was now promoted to squad IC in place of Balsho at the young age of 20. He was given leave for three months to get over the loss of his mentor. While at home, he and Amy continued their relationship, the day before he returned to the army he proposed to her, and she acquiesced. For the next year, he led his squad with a heavy heart, not really finding the confidence he once had before his mentor died and his mind really on Alderaan with his love. Until one fateful day he was called by the top brass to return home. A General personally escorted him home. When they arrived he explained that an assassain had entered his house, while his neighbours were over, and butchered them. He saw the bodies of his mother and neighbour, mutilated with lightsaber burns. Amy’s body was nowhere to be seen. He immediately thought of the Sith Knight, but he was sure he had died in the explosion.
Alone, he returned to the only thing he knew; the military. He continued to lead his command squad, now finding true military success, becoming one of the most successful and feared leaders of his time. Three years on, he still commands his commando unit against the Sith, nicknamed Rendar’s Fury. He never learned what happed to his love, but he still holds hope, in the depths of his heart, that he fill find and kill the Sith and learn what happened to her. He even has a slim lance of hope that she might still be alive out there somewhere…
