I was thinking a few minutes ago about what the Jedi faction used to be like in the first timeline, and how no timeline since then has really recaptured the enthusiasm, activity, and solidarity that the first timeline showed for the Jedi. In trying to figure out why that was, I was thinking that the set up of the faction boards in the last three timelines might have had something to do with it.

Back in the day, there were two entirely different forums for the Jedi and the Sith. That’s not something we need to do again, but what that allowed for was more room to role-play as a faction on just faction related matters that didn’t have to be in the Story board. This includes Jedi having apartments on their worlds, RPing in living quarters, RPing at temples, etc. The Jedi faction board was used for more than just training and informational threads, it was used for RPing beyond the focus of the Story board.

So I was thinking, I could add some thread prefixes (like you see with profiles: [Jedi], [Sith], etc) to each of the training world boards that would allow for different types of threads. These prefixes would be:

  • Training
  • Classes
  • Temple
  • Quarters
  • Other
They’re not the best descriptions in and of themselves, but a corresponding informational thread would say that they mean the following: Training is for one on one training threads; Classes is for group classes led by that world’s Councilor or one of that Councilor’s Masters; Temple would be used for any role-play around the temple, except for the next prefix; Quarters would be used for threads within a character’s quarters; and Other would be used for anything we can’t think of but could still be of good use.

These threads should only be for Jedi characters, no one else. They shouldn’t have any major implications on the Story either, but they’re used for fun role-playing experiences with other members of the faction where you don’t have to worry about driving some sort of plot. It’s just for fun and character development, as well as to create enthusiasm, activity, and solidarity amongst the members of the faction.

I’m pretty sure that, as of now, we already have more people in the Jedi than any other faction has. I think that if we can keep up our talking behind the scenes, create engaging activities for everyone, foster this type of faction RPing here in the Jedi board that I suggested, and keep people’s interest alive, we could very well be the most active faction of the timeline.

Thoughts?

They would work. It would really help point out where the group training is at, rather than one-on-one, which was a little niggle for me.

Sounds like a great idea, like you said, I think this'll really help with cohesion amongst the Jedi, beef up our teamwork, etc.

Awesome. I'll put these prefixes up in a bit.

Prefixes are up. I'll put up an explanation shortly.
