Have your experiences in the Role-play universe, Star Wars or otherwise, significantly impacted your writing style?

Role playing is simply story writing only with more then one author. So you get a taste of very different writing styles, and that broadens your writing 'horizons'. Role playing is also an excuse to think up new and exciting plot lines and characteristics, I find myself regularly (mostly when I'm bored out of my mind) thinking up new characters, and new tactics.

Even after reading a good RP on these forums I'll regularly recall a well written role play to mind and run it through my mind's eye much like a short film. Which sometimes gives me ideas...

For myself, I think it's been something of a mixed bag. On one hand, RPing has consistently developed an interest in the written word and, as you say, has been an excuse to write. However, I also think that I've picked up bad habits from RP that have translated into my other writing.

Kinda. I had some skill at writing before I found this site, and I haven't been here that long, so I'll have to wait and see how it affects my writing style.

I'll get back to you in 7 months. :CHappy:

Years ago, RPing helped me a lot. After I retired, I still kept writing storylines and just kept up with my writing.

I've found myself actually wanting to get back into RPing recently as well.

Yes it did. Without it, I'd prolly have a worse vocabulary when writing and such, and prolly would have failed my English classes.

Probably**

Without Role-playing on this site, I probably would have done slightly worse in my english class, but for the most part I think it was my english class that improved my role-playing abilities.

I went from typing like a complete retard, making no sense and it being clear I had something wrong with me.

to now, where it's not that clear...Plus I would consider myself to be a good rp'er/

I have become far more descriptive in my writing because of RPing. And RPing developed my writing style.

Absolutely. As the role-plays developed in story, I was able to try different things and broaden the types of things I could do. Without this website, I would be just as bad as I was when I started RPing, and that was pretty bad.
