Hey guys,

I've been tossing around a character idea for a bit now and before I moved forward from brainstorming I wanted to step up and ask a few things about droid characters.

1] You can run a player droid right?

2] What are some things to stay away from in terms of cliche's and what not?

3] I was thinking about running a humanoid battle droid that was designed to deliver front line support to soldiers. It would be outfitted with medical supplies and possibly a small bubble shield so it can administer care in a semi-safe environment (if thats not seen as OP) and perhaps some other support doo-dads. How does that sound to any of you?

I may have some more questions in a bit so I'll post em as they come.

There are a few players who successfully RP droid characters. The Duke and Kiro are the two that I have personal experience with. I wish we had a tag system to alert them to their name being mentioned, but it you VM or PM them, they should be able to help you.

Haha saw this thread already Wasp and when it comes to humanoid droids note they have pretty similar personalities to the people they are made after but there needs are different. They don't sleep, they don't eat, they don't drink. They don't sigh or have their heart go a flutter

Hiro honestly acts more human than most droids and I'm still trying to come to grips with whether that's inspire or damn lazy

just note the beauty in life is found by living beings simultaneously as we receive its information around us. Meanwhile Droids get that data and usually experience said beauty on a delay as they decipher everything they can from it

I think I get what you're saying. As a droid whose main purpose is to help those in need, be it wounds or just some covering fire, would it be too far fetched for the robot be somewhat infatuated with the "softness" of organic life? Or possibly the concepts of pain and death entirely? I've got him designed currently as seeming attentive but at the same time relatively cold. As an example, he'd be the first on the scene of an accident to help the injured but would calculate those with the highest chances of survival and importance, then proceed to administer care to them first. He'd basically be heartless but efficient with his craft, since that's what he was first designed to do.

Perhaps over time he'd have his personality develop into something more tangible as his experiences with organics broadened his horizons so to speak.

Absolutely without memory wipes droids develop into individuals so your character should form over time
