EARLY LIFE
Born on Saleucami during a time of relative peace in the galaxy, Rolan Aurek was brought up under a principled, regimented household that granted him a stable, secure childhood.
Having gone to school, played sports, made friends, and helping his family out on the farm, Rolan had become accustomed to a simple, peaceful life. There was nothing particularly exciting or tragic about his life, and that's the way he liked it.
MIRA AUREK
At age 14, Rolan met the love of his life. Mira Verda was a refugee from Mandalore, her family having fled the planet in hopes of escaping the ruling warrior faith that had been known for generations. While at first shy around Mira and nervous about the prospect of having a girlfriend, the two eventually spoke and clicked with ease. The two grew up to be married and have two kids, a boy and a girl. They started a farm of their own and were blessed to live many years in the blissful sanctuary that was Saleucami.
SAVAGERY
Rolan, now used to the family life lived a rich, enjoyable life as he raised his young family. But this was all stripped away from him when pirates pillaged and sacked every farm for miles, including the Aurek family farm. Rolan was forced to watch as his wife and children were raped and murdered before his very eyes. While he had managed to maim and murder all of the attackers, the damage had already been done. His family were dead and his property lay in ashes. He was left with nothing.
AFTERMATH
A grieving Rolan Aurek spent the next few years attempting to take his mind off his grief. He did what he could to forget about his family and move on. In the beginning, he attempted drinking. When this didn't work out for him, he turned to vigilantism, which came to an abrupt end after Rolan savagely murdered the suspect in a blind rage and was nearly arrested for doing so. He eventually turned to smuggling, where he and a surviving friend started a smuggling operation, running guns and spices through tricky blockades. While exhilarating, it did not provide Aurek with the relief he so desired.
THE BORDER ALLIANCE
At the peak of his confusion, Aurek sought out a military career. Figuring that he could repent for his failure to defend his family by defending his nation, he enlisted with the local militia, and eventually found himself working his way up the ranks of the Border Alliance. His exemplary combat ability granted him a position within the elite Defiant Squadron. He had established himself as a capable soldier and for the first time in years could feel a sense of purpose.
THE WAR
Rolan Aurek's military career started and ended at the outbreak of the war between the Border Alliance and the resurgent Sith Brotherhood. He was among the first in the Republic to infiltrate Sith territory, playing a key role in the bombing of the Sith enclave on Serenno and retrieval of plans vital to the security of the Republic. Unfortunately, his limited piloting skills saw his ship crash. While he was able to put together a few kills groundside, he was ultimately captured and sent to Ziost to speak to the then Supreme Leader, Nisara.
During a prisoner transfer, Rolan saw an opportunity to escape and took it. Killing two of his three armed escorts and a pilot, Rolan fled from an angry mob and stole a Sith fighter which he flew away from the Sith capital. Aurek did not return to Bandomeer for some time after this, fully intending to desert after a tumultuous few months in captivity.
