The Starbird came out of hyperspace above Nar Shaddaa and, almost immediately, Greybok spotted the orbital shipyards. The Smuggler's Moon had many shipyards, most of them concealed in the cityscape on the moon below, but the orbital factory the Hutts had once used to produce starfighters had been impounded by the Empire to produce its own starfighters. Greybok knew this well, because he had been a slave on-board that station, along with thousands of other Wookiees, and forced to build ships for the Imperials. Rage was already rising in him just seeing the place again. It was a rage that was only tempered by a single conciliatory thought: it was all about to end.

He had personally come to free the Wookiees still working in the factory from their bondage. And he had brought help. The Alliance was finally making its move. The attacks on Corellia had started the process, and when Greybok had learned that Mig and Alys had gone to fight the Sith, he immediately longed to join them. That was when Commander Ion gave the command: Alliance forces were being re-routed to Nar Shaddaa. Their mission: to cause the biggest revolt the Empire had ever seen, and there was no better place for that to happen.

Greybok set the Starbird on a direct course towards a free landing pad on the factory. That was the first obstacle to overcome: landing. The Wookiee smuggler had a top-notch IFF spoofer installed on his freighter and scan-docs for Nar Shaddaa were not hard to come by; but there was always a chance, a risk, that something might happen. So, Greybok prepared for that eventuality. He howled at the Rebel who had come with him on this mission. Twobee, sitting in the co-pilot's chair, translated for him.

"Greybok says to go get on the guns," the obviously worried protocol droid said. "If they don't accept our scan-docs, we'll need to be able to fight." At that point, the droid broke from translation and immediately launched into a fit. "What are we doing here, Greybok? This will never work! We'll all be killed! It's almost like Commander Ion borrowed your brain when he assigned this mission!"

Behind the droid, BE-ET, Greybok's astromech, whistled something derogatory. Twobee was immediately offended. "No, I will not shut up, Beet! I have no intention of becoming Imperial scrap metal!"

Greybok ignored the both of them. He was solely focused on the mission-at-hand. First he needed to land, then get to the Wookiees, and then it would be revolt time. If they could destroy enough of the factory's equipment, then Imperial production would plummet, the slave force diminished, and the Imperial fleet weakened. @Zay

OOC - This thread ICly takes place at the exact same time as the strikes on Corellia and the Kaggath on Medriass.

A rebel embraces his calling on the smuggler's moon.

Hyperspace gave way too elongated starlines, which collapsed into the glittering starscape in front of Nar Shadda. Aldo unclipped his harness and stepped to the nearest porthole to take in the site. He'd eagerly joined Greybok when the opportunity presented itself and felt no regret as he watched the grew before his eyes as they closed in on the mission objective. The ship coasted smoothly toward the orbital shipyard and the empty space around them began to with ships coming and going from their destination. Aldo heard Greyboks howl and quickly moved toward the cockpit. Based on the commanders call, it sounded like it was time to go to work. The rebel grinned wryly as the anxiety of the mission set in.

Coming down the corridor to the cockpit, Aldo could hear Greybok and Twobee as he approached and once in view, the protocol droid bobbed the way droids did as it turned to set its photoreceptors on him. The Rebel gave a respectful nod to Greybok and then inclined an eyebrow at the droid curiously. Aldo could understand some shyriiwook, but most of what he'd picked up were insults and obscenities, so he was glad Twobee was here to fill in the gaps in his understanding.

The rebel gave the commander a quick nod, turned on his heels and made for the sidecar light dual-laser turret. Aldo got himself comfortable in the turret harness and acquainted himself with the instrumentation. Satisfied, he grabbed the headset and put it on.

"All set here commander. Eyes are up and awaiting your order." He reported.

The Starbird gracefully covered ground through the various detritus and traffic of transient space. The light freighter blended in perfectly with its surroundings. Aldo kept to his word and systematically scanned his radar and the horizon. After a few minutes, their security check came into view. The rebel could feel the ship list slightly correcting its trajectory to pass through the check. The first hurdle on their mission was in view, and with his hands resting steadily on the turrets controls, Aldo was ready.

Nar Shaddaa.

What a hole.

A hole that Merrick, on the last year of his current rotation through the Imperial military, was becoming painfully familiar with. Guard duty by the orbital shipyards was duller than a dantooine field but at least it passed the time.

That was a rather apt description of his entire career in the Republica military at this point actually. Passing the time, waiting for something exciting, for him to be swept away.

Not that he didn’t have drive, but direction was the problem. When he found what he wanted he was ready. Until then though? Drifting all day long, above the restless planet below. He’d learnt the layout of the factory well on his rotations, but he’d yet had to put it to use.

So, when he and his wingmate spotted a freighter approaching the landing bays, they pulled their ships over to it, Merrick in a Reflex-Class Starfighter following along its flank, and hailed,

“Clearance codes and purpose, if the pilot could send em and state em that’d be great” he spoke into the comm. He hadn’t been aware of any visits or deliveries to the factory, they were rare in any case. Meaning they were scheduled. It left him more than a little confused. While he kept his sights and cannons trained and ready to fire on the approaching ship just in case, if he was honest he was more than a little bored today. Hopefully that’d pick up, maybe this’d be something worth calling in.

It’d be time to find out soon enough.

By this time, Ashlaa was used to getting reassigned from system to system, Nar Shaddaa was nothing but another temporary stop before she'd get passed along with some vague description as to why she'd bre getting reassigned, though she knew that her reassignments mostly boiled down due to Xenophobia. However, today, she had a feeling that today would be different. Having recently finished her routine checkup on the Crux-Class Starfighter she looked she was just as quickly told to dress up and head out. Shrugging and figuring that speeding up the process of getting reassigned would only look worse on her records if she actually did something that warranted a transfer.

As her ship soared out of the hangar on the side of the orbital shipyard that sat in orbit above Nar Shaddaa below. Aligning herself beside her wingmate for the patrol she opened an encrypted channel between the two ships and made her presence known to him. "Let's hope for a calm night, huh?" She spoke, not expecting an answer in return. As they moved through the designated route around the shipyards they spotted a freighter moving towards the shipyards she and her wingmate just had emerged from. Following standard procedure when it came to ships approaching the shipyards she pulled up behind the ship to her wingmate's side.

There was something wrong with the ship, she didn't recognize it as any of the regular ships that came and went from the shipyards, it almost looked like someone had just strapped various parts to a base ship model and then gone from there. Positioning herself in a place where she could be the most effective should this makeshift-looking ship try something funny.

Barely a shudder went through The Tempest Hunter as it came out of hyperspace; her pilot and co-pilot having been briefed on their objective busied themselves with checking the systems and plotting in the heading for their checkpoint. Ner’Giza gave a nod to Slippken who exited the cockpit to take up his position in the ball turret while she readied to transmit their credentials.

Her IFF spoofer would identify her as The Tempest Hunter, a freighter under the employ of Nercathi Imports out of Lessu on Ryloth. Her cargo medical supplies out of Manaan, specifically inoculations and Control Chips for the workforce.

Ahead of her she could see Commander Greybok’s Starbird and the pair of Imperial ships performing what she supposed was a security check in person. She had powered up her weapons, though the groundsweeper remained concealed within its hide-away compartment upon the forward portion of the hull. She cued the intercomm link and apprised Slippken of their situation. ”Heads up Slips” she said while angling her course to queue up at the checkpoint. ”We got two Imperial ships at the checkpoint. I don’t know why they are giving it the personal touch instead of just handling this from the Station's security center. This could go bad real quick.”

”Aye-aye, Cappy”, the co-pilot responded causing her to cringe. That was slightly less offensive to her than ’Captain Giza’ and she was seriously going to have to speak to Aurel about infecting her 12 man squad with further epitaphs. When at last she came close enough to be an effective aid to Greybok and Aldo, she held her position as if she were politely awaiting her turn to be passed through the checkpoint.

This placed the Tempest Hunter on the one side of the two Imperial ships that were flying in close formation to one another and The Starbird upon the other. Hopefully the flanking maneuver would prove to be nothing more than a precaution and Greybok and Aldo would be passed through the orbital station’s check point.

What concerned her most was after they could dock at the station. Attired in her armour, her blasters, both pistols and rifle close to hand, Ner’Giza hoped for the best. Of late she had been doing nothing but missions involving the freeing of slaves. The hypocrisy of it all stuck in her throat and she sarcastically thought that it was a good thing slavery was illegal else there might not be any free ‘Xenos’ left.

The Imperial starfighters were not exactly a welcome addition to the plan, but Greybok was unconcerned. His ship might be slower than theirs, and less maneuverable, but it had superior weapons and shielding. More, his scanners indicated that reinforcements had just arrived and were flanking the two starfighters that were presently flanking him. Now they were even. Two ships to two ships. And he didn't think the Imps were going to like how Star Squadron played this game.

At first, he flew casual. As requested, he transmitted his scan-docs and clearance codes to the starfighter who had initially hailed him (@Nightfall). His IFF spoofer was fairly high-end. It would identify him as the Starbird, a freighter in the employ the Hutts transferring Wookiee slaves to the factories in the starfighter shipyards straight ahead of them. The passenger module on his ship would further verify this claim, as it indicated that his freighter was equipped to transport large numbers of living cargo. Then, as the scan-docs were transmitted, he checked his other instruments.

His shields were up. Power was flowing to all of the ship's weapon systems. Perfect. He didn't intend to land and forfeit his advantage. It was time to see if these Imps could pilot half as decently as they could yack. He waited until the scan-docs and clearance codes successfully transmitted to the requesting starfighter, so that he knew the pilot would be (at least temporarily) checking the veracity of the electronic documents, to make his move.

Switching on his groundsweeper light cannon, the weapon deployed from its hidden flap along the bottom of the freighter, pointed towards his ship's stern. He would then immediately open fire and track three shots along an arc that would begin with the newcomer (@Danee) and end at the ship that originally hailed him (@Nightfall). The goal was to force them off of his flank, allowing him to reposition himself for more fighting.

If they elected not to move, however, they would eat the cannon fire up-close-and-personal. Not to mention, they would be dealing with another modified light freighter on their own flanks. @Zay @Kayenta Moenkopi

Ner’Giza’s fingers drummed upon her thigh waiting for what seemed like an eternity for something, anything to happen. Mindful of the absence of her partner and ever worried for her brother’s safety, thinking of Aurel seemed to settle a calmness upon her while she surveyed the situation.

Both ships would be able to max her speed by about 20 MGLT; hopefully if it came to a dog fight she might have the upper hand in how much damage the Tempest could withstand. 99 had fixed the wiring issue with the groundsweepers, which now operated from the pilot’s seat instead of the co-pilot without shorting out her scanners, and completed the installation of her military grade shields.

She exhaled once more confident in the functionality of the mynock and pondered which of the two ships she would target if this checkpoint turned hostile. Immediately she set her sights to the darker of the two vessels. She knew the Starbird was pimped out big time, it being the envy of everyone in the squadron and it had greater firepower than her own with that torpedo launcher of his. Still, she was a little bit proud of being able to coax a bit more speed out of her ship.

Near as she knew the two fighters were basically the same ship, save one had its own hyper-drive and the other didn’t. That was assuming they lacked modifications. She smiled and set her hand back on the controls; more systems meant more things to go boom. Yes, she decided, she would definitely go after the…

SHOTS FIRED!

Her right thumb hit the button to drop her groundsweeper into firing position while her left cued her comm to the frequency between ships and her own intercom, ”Star Seven, taking the Crux-class!” (@Danee). She knew any pilot worth their wings would not just sit there and take blaster fire and so she prepared to track her shots along this ship’s eventual line of motion as she fired off her three blasts, the first at its present position at rest.

Slippken had been waiting for the command to fire thinking they should have done so upon getting in range rather than trust to the spoofer IFF credentials. So when the Twi’lek’s voice came over the comm identifying their target, he was more than ready to fire at the Crux-cruiser a volley of three shots with the intent of trailing the ship if it moved for the second two just as Ner’Giza had done. Being slightly delayed due to coming after Ner’Giza’s actions, it was likely the Crux would be in motion before he got off his first shot.
OOC: Deleted per clarification on where the ball turret placement upon a mynock really is. On the Tail.

Aldo felt the Starbird slow, his radar chortled and he watched as a pair of small dots slid in from their flank. The rebel's brow furrowed as he watched the blips close in on them. There was always a calm before the calamity, and he could sense the sudden tension between the two newcomers (@Nightfall & @Danee) and The Starbird. Finally, a third newcomer (@Kayenta Moenkopi) appeared and casually settled in behind the duo.

Getting kinda crowded out here... he thought to himself.

“Clearance codes and purpose--" came the transmission from the nearest ship. Aldo breathed a small sigh of relief. A routine cred check was a basic precaution to prepare for and Aldo was aware of The Starbird's notorious reputation. This would be a quick stop and go, once the imperial scanned the info they'd be set to go and no one would be the wiser. He sighed and relaxed in his seat a little disappointed, he'd hope to see the ship in actio-- Suddenly, the ship's groundsweeper canon fired. Thought went out the window as experience took control.

”Star Seven, taking the Crux-class!”

"Copy!" He confirmed into the com. If Star Seven was on the Crux-class that meant he and Greybok could focus the Reflex-Class.

Aldo snapped too, taking control of the light dual-laser turret and aiming for Reflex-class Starfighter (@Nightfall). Locking on to his target, the rebel fired three shots aimed at center mass on the starship. If the target evaded, Aldo would keep after the ship, that was his only job and he was ready to go to work.

Merrick was not exactly a great solider.

Some would say he wasn't even a good one, but he was still enlisted so he did his job, though perhaps with the barest minimum of effort at times.

But he wasn't stupid, however, and when his scanners showed another ship appearing behind him, another unexpected visitor for the day, he knew something had to be up. Though the ship before him seemed to be cooperating, he was on alert the whole time, ready to act at a moments notice. Weapons were trained and ready to fire ahead as soon as something fishy happened. And boy, he didn't have to wait long for it.

As the hailed ship before him sent through its information, he kept one eye out the cockpit at the thing, his eyes glancing back and forth between the info and the ship out the cockpit as he began to look through it, not letting the thing out of his sight for long. Good thing too.

As soon as he saw the lower flaps open and a cannon begin to deploy, he didn't think twice before simultaneously pulling the trigger on his own laser cannons and firing twice into the ships aft as he pulled up and over to the side of the Starbirds starboard engine, keeping low to its roof so it was out of the sidecar cannons firing angle (who had not yet started firing until after the ship behind him had begun firing, who had similarly not deployed or fired until the Starbird had also begun firing), and also out of the groundsweepers angle of fire (as well as the grounsweeper of the ship behind him), as Merrick fired his cannons again along the ships roof, trying to strip the things shield as fast as he could. The bolts the Starbird's groundsweeper fired at him would sail past and toward the ship behind, who would have to evade them itself now.

Keeping pace with the freighter to maintain his position and angle, the increased speed and maneuvering abilities of his ship would mean he could react to any attempt to alter the the freighters angle to hit him with ease, and hopefully stay in this relatively safe spot to the freighters defenseless roof and starboard sides.

Hopefully without anything to distract him, his partner Ashlaa would have escaped the fire directed her way too.

Runn
From the looks of things, this was just going to be another dull checkout, some new contractor who had hired a new crew who already had their own ship and had failed to notify the Dockyards about the change of vehicles. But as things were starting to grow a bit stale, something happened to spice things up. Another ship (@Kayenta Moenkopi) exited hyperspace and with its sublight engines began to approach the flying checkpoint. With her attention diverted to the new arrival she began to run the odds of two new contractors arriving within such a short time frame, in two equally scabby looking ships. Turning her eyes back to her sensors and the ship ahead of her she glanced between her wingmate and the ship ahead of them, wondering if the ship had even sent the requested documentation over to him.

Casting a glance over towards her sensors again she saw the other ship closing in towards them as they slowly approached the dockyards, something was starting to inch its way into the back of her mind, it started to smell an awfully lot like an ambush and she wasn't planning on sitting around doing nothing. Reaching over to her instruments she diverted the power from the hyperdrive, which she wouldn't need on patrol either way and diverted it into the engines. As her eyes returned from her instruments she saw a groundsweeper emerging from the hull, the barrels pointing at her. Pulling the yoke to port and pushed forward beneath the ship and outwards, she couldn't even voice a warning to her wingmate as a pair of twin bolts soared over the viewport. Running the scenario through her head she figured that the ship behind her was going to turn hostile, just as the first one had, and she wasn't wrong. A salvo of blaster cannon fire from another hull mounted blaster cannon missed the spot where her ship had been flying moments earlier. She pulled the yoke back and toward port so that she turned away from the junk-like freighter just as she was beneath it, briefly putting herself in cover as rushed out from beneath the ship. Moving away from the suddenly turned hostile ship and its potential reinforcements behind her, increasing the distance between them

Speeding away from the, now two, hostile ships she checked her scanners and found out that yes, her wingmate (@Nightfall) was still alive. "You go for the wreck in front of us, I'll take the reinforcements." Ashlaa spoke over the secure channel between their ships. Building up speed as she pushed her ship through a large arch, she wasn't sure what kind of armament the bastard of a ship was carrying, but coming in from its side she got a quick glance of the silhouette of the ship and a quick evaluation of ship told her that an approach from beneath would probably be the most dangerous one. So, using the Crux-Class' high speed she climbed for a few seconds, out of the groundsweeper's line of fire before angling down and unleashing a salvo of five shots of cannon fire at the topside of the Tempest Hunter before pulling back up and away from the ship as she closed in again, making sure to keep herself above the ship and away from that groundsweeper.

Finally, Greybok thought as the fighting got underway. Some good karking action.

The Starbird jumped a bit as two shots from the enemy fighter (@Nightfall) glanced off of his aft shields. The military-grade shields he had equipped to her meant that the shots were little to worry about. At the same time, the enemy ship flew upwards and to Greybok's starboard to avoid Aldo's shots, but that was exactly what the Wookiee wanted him to do.

Slamming on his break pedal, the enemy ship seemed to rocket ahead of him, leaving the cannon fire that would have hit his roof to soar off into the endless void of space. Greybok was quick to fire the engines again and correct his positioning so that the Starbird came up directly behind the enemy fighter, giving Aldo (@Zay) a direct line-of-fire at the enemy ship's stern.

Greybok kept his eyes peeled on the enemy ship. Any sudden movements and he would be ready to maneuver the Starbird yet again. This old hunk-of-junk might not look like much, but she still had a few tricks left in her. @Kayenta Moenkopi @Danee

Aldo swore as his shot went wide of the nimble starship. The gunner tracked the ship until it moved beyond his sights and he was forced to break off. He centered his crosshairs and routinely scanned the empty space before him. His senses were alert as he awaited the inevitable turbulent dance of space combat.

The sound of ammunition colliding with the aft shields let him know the Reflex-Class starfighter was back and on their tail. As the shots fired, the rebel noticed the other imperial ship peel off, no doubt to deal with Star Seven. Aldo mentally prepared for Greybok's move. The Commander slammed on the breaks sending their quarry (@Nightfall) passing over them and into his line of sight. The rebel took aim at the enemy ship's engines, which had been exposed directly in front of him, and fired three times. As he fired, Aldo would track his shots along the enemy’s trajectory being sure to accommodate as he went.

A wry smile split his lips as they got right into the thick of it.

As Ner’Giza expected, the Imperials fled from the combined fire of Greybok and herself. Her trailing shots had all missed but she moved to follow in pursuit of the Crux, veering slightly toward her port side, evading the friendly fire completely. Seeing her target dip downward, she kept her same elevation hoping to gain the high ground and let her groundsweepers come into play. The other ship shot upward as though to further engage her Commander. Both enemy vessels were angling toward their port-side, though the Crux was cutting it fairly sharp.

For a moment her target had found shelter beneath Commander Greybok but suddenly both the Imperials would shoot past him? NO, she laughed. The Wookie had put on his reverse thrusters! She could see her target again and saw the Crux rising in elevation as it cut its arc through space.

With nineteen years of flying experience under her belt, much of that involving swift navigation through asteroid fields, she felt that all those long years had culminated in this moment in time.

While the Crux was swift and came round as Nera was still broadsided, she knew enough to take advantage of a ship committed to a dive bombing maneuver. Ner’Giza set her plan in motion; pulling her nose up and around to face her attacker, she increasing her forward momentum and called out to her gunner, ”She’s coming around our Port side from above Slippken. Get ready, I’m going right up her nose!”

Her move permitted her to escape all but the initial shot but her shields protected her well. Pushing her thrusters as she came out of the turn, the Tempest Hunter shot upward to make a run directly beneath the Crux. Slippken’s voice came over the comm, ”Are you insane!??” he squeaked but she just laughed. ”Stop your crying. I’m lining you up for the sweet spot!”, she replied and sure enough that is what she did.

The Tempest Hunter flew right up underneath the Imperial Crux, her arc so sharp that the freighter began to roll over until underbelly to underbelly she shot out to its rear leaving nothing but the prettiest view for her gunner in the tail section. Slippken fired just as soon as his targeting system locked on, three trailing shots before they were out of range, all aimed to target the ship’s engines. Admittedly she should have fired her groudsweepers too but the move was a bit involved; the rebel felt confident her gunner would get them.

Karking Kriffing Nerf Nuts.

Though he dodged the opening salvos, the damned Starbird hit the brakes and fell behind him. It meant that the freighter would have to get back up to speed in order to follow, though he didn't have much time to move, (not at all as much as he might have hoped). The freighters side turret had been ready for him, and while Merrick scrambled to check what had happened, the first cannon bolt slammed into the back of his fighter, banging into the shielding,

'Well, that's where they are' he thought to himself almost saracastically.

As he felt the bolt hit, he pulled his fighter right, up and out, accelerating up and out of the turn, though the second blast still managed to clip him before he made it out of the firing angle.

He was clear out of the way of the fighters weapons for now, who would have to turn somehow in order to get him back within its shooting angle. Merrick kept an eye out to its movements, ready to further maneuver in response to any movements the freighter made while he tried to position himself for another attack.

It seemed that the pilot of the junker that had fired at her from behind had quite a bit more guts than she thought they would have, managing to avoid the majority of her salvo, with only one shot hitting their shields, by driving her ship towards her at an angle which would put the ship just below her. This time she got a rather clear view of the rear-mounted guns on the ship and the move which the pilot was pulling became obvious almost at an instant. As the proximity alarms of her ship began to scream at her, she shouted back at them.

"I KNOW! I KNOW! SHUT UP!" With her eye on the scanner, showing the 'foreign object' lining up perfectly beneath her she threw the controls to starboard and once her ship was clear from the other she gunned the engines forward and downward, again building up distance between them while moving away from her, keeping the main hull of the ship between herself and the rear mounted turret on the ship. Once she had built up sufficient amount of speed she checked the sensors before starting up a large sweep, keeping herself momentarily outside of effective firing range as she looked towards Merrick and his pursuer and primed one of her three concussion missiles.

Greybok almost rolled his eyes. This pilot was making this all too easy. As an Imperial slave, the Wookiee had helped manufacture Reflex-class starfighters like the one he had been shooting at. They had shields, but they were only good for one round of protection (unlike his own military-grade shields, which were worth two). That meant those two shots Grey had gotten in just now had taken down the shields. Another shot like that and the Imperial driving that starfighter would be space-dust orbiting above the Smuggler's Moon.

The Wookiee's reflexes were fast—honed from years as a smuggler and a pilot. The moment the Imperial pilot banked up and to the right, Greybok simultaneously pressed down harder on his accelerator pedal and rolled his ship to starboard, so that he was once again on the Imperial pilot's tail. He made sure to level out directly behind the Imperial starfighter, so that the enemy pilot couldn't pull the same breaking trick Greybok had earlier. Unbeknownst to him, this maneuver would take him well out of the other enemy pilot (@Danee)'s line-of-sight (not that a shot from that pilot would do anything from this distance anyways).

The enemy pilot in front of him (@Nightfall) would also find himself back within range of Aldo's (@Zay) cannons. Greybok was determined not to let the enemy off-the-hook. If that meant they had to chase him all the way to the Smuggler's Moon, well, then that's what it meant. @Kayenta Moenkopi

The battle was in full motion now as the two forces exchanged blows. Greybok's maneuver had been successful and now that the commander had tasted blood, Aldo doubted he'd let his quarry escape. Aldo's full attention remained on the ship ahead as it veered off out of his sights. The Rebel was primed and ready as he prepared for his comrades reaction. Greybok effortlessly maneuvered the larger ship with a prowess worthy of his notorious reputation. As quickly as his target had removed themselves from his sights they were returned and Aldo welcomed them with laser cannon fire.

As soon as the Reflex-class ship (@Nightfall) entered his sights Aldo fired. The rebel shot three times aimed at the ship's engines. As he took each shot he'd accommodate for his target's movements tracking his quarry along its trajectory. His intention was to take the ship out of the fight.

Sweat began to bead upon his creased brow as the stress of battle settled on his body. Aldo ground his teeth and kept his sights leveled on his target as the battle raged on.

As the Crux began to pull off to it’s starboard/her port side, Slippken rotated the ball turret along its trajectory and fired his three trailing shots along its downward dive, which would interrupt whatever else the enemy pilot had planned to do.

Oh well this was fun wasn't it? No shields, enemy on his tail, just what he kriffing asked for. Merrick grumbled to himself. But the thing was staying close, he could see it following him through the turn. The freighter had more speed than most, but not more than his fighter, so even as the freighter sought to follow him into the turn, he kept his foot accelerating to his maximum speed as the Starbird leveled out behind him, getting him out of (and for the time being, keeping him out of) the freighters effective range, following through the turn he had begun and hauling ass back toward his ally.

Kriff, things could not get any worse.

As she was straightening out her ship and started to head towards her wingmate she had her cockpit lit up with bolts of laser as the first shot soared past just in front of her. Slamming the breaks she managed to narrowly avoid the second bolt and then the entire cockpit went black. Her instruments didn't react to anything she did and she could feel the temperature inside the cockpit dropping. Counting down inside her head she figured that if a shot had hit her and taken out the ship she wouldn't be able to count inside her head if she was dead. Then the emergency power kicked in, painting the cockpit in a bright red light.

A stray shot from the ship above her must have hit something vital to the ship and she was now floating in a partially dead ship, planet-bound. With the emergency power online she had only basic flight capabilities, basically, up, down or slowly to the left or right. But as Nar Shaddaa grew bigger and bigger from where she was seated, she felt rather glad that she could at least move that much.

She wouldn't be able to signal to her wingmate where she was going or that she had been taken out of the fight.

It wouldn't take long for her to enter orbit and soon enough she'd be able to deploy the survival capsule that came as a standard with the Crux fighters, and then all she had to do was wait for pickup by Imperial forces.
