Riot in the UK

Because, unfortunatly, people in deprived areas of the UK, are by all majority.. idiots. I know that sounds harsh I am not in generally saying all are... but.. well watch Jeremy Kyle.. you'd understand what I mean...

Riots spread to the city I live closest to last night. I can't believe how ****ING STUPID some people are. It's just depressing, and disgusting.

Not necessarily. I have already read reports where guns have been taken up, so they are out there. Many of the people in those riots don't care about laws, so if there are laws against having guns, they ignore them. No matter what a society, even an island society, tries to do, guns will make it into the population.

While I don't think it would have stopped the rioting, I don't think it would make it much worse. If anything, some of those rioters might think twice about attacking a few stores if they think they are being protected by a store owner with a gun. Likely it won't, but at least the innocent can defend themselves and their homes/businesses against the overwhelming numbers.

The idea that adding the right to carry guns to a situation like what is going on in the UK would make it so much worse is not true. We have had large scale riots here in the US where there are a lot of guns and have never had it turn into a shooting war. Yes, there may be a few more deaths, but it wouldn't be catastrophic and some of the bystanders who have been beaten badly may have been able to hold off their attackers, often without firing a shot (most looters won't actually fight for their loot, they are just scavengers).
