Rina Oziaf was born in a Tintinna expat community on the planet Arda, growing to adulthood in the oppressive, industrial landscape of the planet's largest city, seemed doomed to a life in one of the huge factories; to make things easy on herself, she committed herself to technical studies, and graduated her secondary education courses with a number of certifications in things like droid and computer repair, spacecraft maintenance and system optimization theory. This earned Rina a relatively cushy job managing droid operations at a large manufacturing plant, at which she proved competent. She had begun to work her way up in the company, when catastrophe struck.
Unfortunately for Rina, her life experienced a major upset in the aftermath of a major economic downturn. Rina lost her job, and with few prospects in her field due to a downsizing by many of the local industrial concerns, Rina was forced to take whatever work she could find. This led her to answer an ad for crew for a major scientific expedition headed into a dangerous region; Rina would not have accepted the job, except that none of her other inquiries would so much as give her the time of day.
So it was that Rina began her career as a scout, albeit reluctantly. Time will tell if she sticks with it, although the lure of unknown space is a strong one, especially for those who have never experienced it first hand...
