V was gone before she could speak another word. Alex let her smile linger. She missed this part of life. The Morellian Jedi had not truly realized how much until the deal was done. She told herself all Jedi were her students but in truth that meant none really were. She let out a happy sigh. This was right. Walking a few paces away she went to tidy up the books left behind. Her fingers linger on the dark volume. The Force spoke clearly in her mind. Her eyes lost focus as her thoughts cast backward. Asminys sat bound in his cell, his face a mask of pain. Alex stood staring at him. Her eyes cold. Her purpose clear. Hints of a darker soul rippled at the edge. Drow had been with her that day. Alex’s partner in the shadows. She looked to her left, but it wasn’t Drow standing there.
V.
Alex dropped the book and stepped backward. She saw clearly now the tendril of possibility. V was drawn to forces of the mind. Those forces that boarded the Darkness. Alex had walked that very same line. A careful balancing act between the light and dark. She walked away because the temptation had grown too great. In that moment, her resolve hardened. V needed her…perhaps more than either of them knew. The Grandmaster put the books away and returned to her quarters.
She did not sleep.
There were a host of other matters she needed to attend. Eventually, she packed her things to meet V in the library at dawn. The Force brushed aside her weariness. She could survive on that for a few days if needed. To her surprise, V beat her to the library. “Well…this is a first.” She chuckled.
“Come on, I can’t fly my ship out of the library.” Alex led them towards the Puddle Jumper. There would be no extravagant travel aboard the Liberty. “Care to guess where we are going? I’ll give you a hint…it’s not far.” She did have a plan to get things started. V needed to learn control or risk the alternative.
