Alarms blared across the bridge. Grandmaster Alexandria Voran stood staring out across the bridge. Red warning lights bathed her figure. Ships jumped from hyperspace all around her. The alarms rang louder. Alex spun as a muffled voice spoke behind her. Where were they? Taris? Denon…no Coruscant? The muffled voice again. Alex spun as turbolasers began to fire. Max was standing there looking at her.
Alex shot up out of bed, the Force flicking from her fingers to send the lights on. Her breath came in ragged gasps. You’re home. The Temple is safe…everyone is safe. Slowly, her mind calmed while she pulled back within herself. The Force greeted her with a warm embrace. Alex flipped hair out of her eyes. What little sleep she managed these days was plagued by nightmare. They were the kind that left your heart clenched and your mind racing. Those terrible dreams were made worse they the tinge of foresight in all of them…as if the Force was trying to speak with her but could not break through. She sighed. Clouded futures and mistakes of the past.
Finally, the sound plaguing her dream broke through her thoughts. Her datapad chimed on the nightstand. Alex briefly looked at the scream. Silent alarms in the grand library had been triggered. Lovely. The Morellian Jedi stood and dressed quickly. Whatever sleep she might have gotten was long gone. When she opened the door to her room, a handful of Temple Guard stood at the ready. “Sweep the perimeters and check each guard station…I’ll go to the library.” There was a small note of hesitation in the Force. Alex fixed them with a do-not-test-me stare and they nodded to carry out her orders.
She went swiftly to the grand library. Alex feared no mortal and she sincerely doubted enemies had snuck in to steal holobooks. The library housed some rare knowledge but that much. When she entered she raised her voice slowly. “Hello?” This was either a false alarm or a rule breaker.
