REPUBLIC SPECIAL OPS. ARMOR

A special type of armor designed to be used by members of the Republic's Special Operations Division during sanctioned missions. Developed by the Republic's Department of Military Research, this armor was the standard issue armor of all the Judicial special operatives. It was manufactured on planets such as Gilvaanen. It was made up of 18 individual, overlapping durasteel composite plates and durasteel-plated boots which dispersed energy and protected the wearer from glancing blaster bolts, though restricted mobility.

LEGALITY

Legally worn by members of the Republic Speical Ops. only. Wearing it outside of Republic space could be perceived as infringing the sovereignty of said space.

Type and Coverage

Type: Heavy Armor.

Coverage:
  • Head: Fully enclosed helmet.
  • Torso: Covered by durasteel plates.
  • Back: Covered by durasteel plates.
  • Right Arm: Covered by durasteel plates.
  • Left Arm: Covered by durasteel plates.
  • Hands: Covered by durasteel plates.
  • Legs: Covered by durasteel plates.
  • Feet: Covered by durasteel plates.

Functions

Function 1: Computer Spike
  • Computer spikes are used to forcibly decrypt or unlock computer terminals. Most civilian systems can be cracked in one posting round, while most military or hardened systems take two or more.
Function 2: Dart Launcher
  • Can launch a dart accurately up to 15m. This dart is filled with a fast-acting, short-lived sedative that can render near-humans unconscious, or a sedative tailored to one specific alien physiology. The dart is incapable of penetrating even the lightest armor, or even thick leathers. The dart has the same practical effect as a medium stun bolt.
Function 3: Scout HUD
  • Scout HUD - Contains a 4x magnifier and Compass.

Don't mean to be critical, but heavy armor probably isn't the best choice for special operations forces.

Medium might be a better choice, less bulky and noise without compromising defense.

Generally special forces operated with little to no armor in a lot of things. They are considered special because they can work under special conditions, like deep recon. But, it doesn't look bad. Just something to think about.

Dudes, this is not RL; it's SWRP. If you consider shadow troopers, for instance, they engage in special ops. literally all the time (be it in Legends or nuCanon), yet by our definition their armor would be classified as heavy (since we classify armors in term of coverage, not in terms of materials).

Now, I appreciate your input, but this is more of an aesthetic/story choice.

I don't mean to be pedantic (He said in the midst of his pedantic ramblings) but there are consequences for heavy armor this timeline:

"Heavy armor (ie; Stormtrooper or Clone armor) provides full body protection at the expense of more limited space for attaching tech functions- it is also very taxing to wear, meaning that most people do not walk around in it unless they expect battle, and it is practically impossible for anyone but the most skilled and experienced fighters to perform any sort of acrobatics in."

That's from the tech-rules.

Pretty much every 'Spec Ops' character in Canon has heavy armour.

I agree with Dumbledor on this.
