While the dogfight raged on a sizable transport flew toward the orbital shipyard of Rendili. Inside the hull was a whole platoon of forty two Republic marines. At the tipping point of this spear were a squad of fourteen men and women lead by Sgt. Talos Barrenfist who was up in front. The air was stench with multiple body odors mixed together along with trace lingering fuel gas as they all waited.

The time is drawing near. Thought Talos, gripping a PDS-R1 Rifle in both hands with silent anticipation. As a Deucalian this was his type of warfare, boarding action and sudden raids. The briefing from the meeting had been clear on the objective. Secure the central hub of the yard from the pirates inside whether, they surrender or not.

Overhearing someone on his left breathing in and out rapidly, Barrenfist turned and saw it was the new kid, eighteen year old Sero Wansen. Swiftly he angrily whispered to the farm girl.“Grow a pair private. Freezing up is going to will get yourself shot faster than a womp rat. You’re a marine so start acting like it.”

Embarrassed, Sero replied with a quick nod. “Yes sarge.” Satisfied for the time being Talos proceeded to examine around his squad. He guessed the officers in charges will have something to say soon to everyone else before the assault commenced.

Meanwhile, a shuttle from a nearby Republic vessel flew in along side the shuttle. On this shuttle was a squad of 6 marines, armoured with standard GAR armour and the standard issue blaster rifle, with a frag grenade each and Bretharr Bargall. He didn't like to wear armour, so he just wore his GAR Naval uniform and his blaster pistol. The mission objective was the same, to clear out the pirates from the central hub. This would be critical yes, though Bretharr wondered why the Government even allowed the situation to get so bad that their main space station is swarming with pirates. Kind of stupid in his opinion. Now however, he as well as other soldiers would set that right. He thought it best to communicate with the other soldier, so he brought up the holo link.
"Lieutenant Bretharr Bargall of the Corvette Intrepid. Lovely to meet your acquaintance. I would like to presume you know the goal of the mission. Clear out the hangar and we can proceed from there. Have fun!" and he switched off, as he loaded his pistol. The shuttle landed and the door was about to come down.

The navel lieutenant in command of Barrenfist’s platoon was Arnet Renarus a olive skinned male with from Dentaal. In the center of the mass of armored marines with him, Renarus received Bargall’s call from the smaller shuttle. “Acknowledged Lieutenant, we are aware of the objective. See you in the hanger.”

Quickly the two Republic transports swoop into the main hanger bay. The pirates inside it had been only aware about the dogfight outside the station but the Navy had jammed their sensors soon after. So when the shuttles appeared, the brigands were completely off guard. Many of them panicked fleeing for the nearest exits while the Republic ramps opens up.

The marines from the larger transport poured out with Talos still in front. “Til dýrðar og heiðurs!” He shouted in a Decalian battle cry. A few scattered pirates who stood their ground raised their guns to shoot but the invaders fired first, at will. With a short burst Talos downed one scumbag to his left and again at another in the back who was fleeing.

Balater bolts were exchanged repeatedly by both sides. Nevertheless the Republic troops were overrunning the hanger.

“Move, Move Move!!” Bretharr shouted as the ramp came down, he charged out as fast as possible with his marines hotly behind. It was far better to fight in an open space then such a confined spot. They would be easy prey otherwise. He and his marines began to fire at the pirates still standing, as Bretharr used his blaster pistol to take down a few pirates at relatively close range. He continued to push forward, calling out “Forward!” As he encouraged his men to join him, as well as the other Republic troops

Several space bandits were torn to pieces in the onslaught as they attempted to fight back. Regardless their defiance allowed time for many of their fellow to get away. They will quickly be to regroup farther in. By now the alarms were blaring in the background, letting rest of the pirate base know of the attack. The fight for the station was only beginning...

Shouting like a madman as he pushed forward Talos emptied what’s left of his ammo into a Gamorran that aimed at a pistol at him. The green pig shrieked, grasping his chest and collapsed sideways. Sergeant Barrenfist slide over to a metal crate, reloading a fresh clip to the gun while the firefight raged on with klaxon sounding out. Immediately he looked up and saw the initial skirmish with their enemies abandoning the hanger bay entirely. Scanning around Talos noted several dead pirates spread out across the floor in various positions.

Looking back the NCO saw that their strike force suffered only less, three to four marines wounded and being tended by the medic. Lt. Renarus seemed very pleased with the results and called in the command, inforoming them of their progress. Done he turn to Bargall, his fellow officer and said.

“I’m leaving the third squad of my platoon here to act as our rearguard and tend to our wounded. The pirates know we’re here and will be waiting for us in hallways if they still have stomach to fight. Let’s advance together with our combined strength.”

“Yes that would be the best course. It’s pretty much the only course using our combined strength against the pirates but very good.” Bretharr would note
“Fall in gentlemen” as began walking towards the first hallway. As he was about to turn the corner, he stopped, and took a little peak round. He saw 4 pirates, aiming at the corner.
He would whisper the information on, before grabbing a flashbang from one of his marines and throwing it at the pirates, detonating right in front of them.
“Let us proceed gentlemen”

The four bandits gasping and swearing as the flashbang carried out its work. Swiftly three marines stepped out in front of Bargall, finishing off their stunned opponents with selected shots. They advanced for several seconds before a murderous volley erupted from the end of the hallway toward the Republic force. It cut the young marine in the lead before he can even blink and wounding his partner in the right leg who cried out agony, grasping the limb. The rest of hit the floor or spread out taking cover behind wall pillars.

Meanwhile pirate gunner bombarded their position with rapid bursts and yelling out cruses in Basic and Huttese.

Talos was flat on his stomach trying to avoid getting shot. Of course there would be a kriffing repeater! He thought in frustration. They can’t stay like this. Barrenfist gestured at toward the marines around him to provide a diversion while he and Sero and prepared some ‘little gifts.’

It was willingly obliged. Several blasters opened up at once on the machine gun post. The intensity was so much, the gunner was forced to duck down briefly. As it happened Talos and his young recruit each hurled a grenade toward their target. A small blast ignited, smashing the repeater and rendered the gunner a lifeless corpse.

Seeing this Lieutenant Renarus shouted. “We’re in business people. Keep it up!” The wounded marine moaned for his mother as he was being treated by a comrade. The rest spread out to avoid bunching up entering the next room with considerable caution.

Bretharr advanced with 2 marines at both his flanks before turning the next corner. Once again there were several pirated there, so he told his marines to mass all their fire on that pirate group. All 5 marines plus Bretharr turned the corner, and fired down a hail of blaster bolts at the pirates, hoping to be backed up

The support wouldn’t be necessary. Bretharr’s team swiftly gun down four pirates that barely had time to react. By the time the other marine group reached them it was already over.

Reanrus was impressed but kept to himself before everyone. “Alright marines, next stop is the control center.” Bringing out a hand-held projector with one hand, the officer activated a blue holographic schematic for the station. Pointing to where they were, he went on.

“We’re at the intersection point. I will take the first squad with Barrenfist to assault the main entrance on the right hand side divert attention. Second squad lead by Segreant Tenn will accompany Lieutenant Bargall’s team to hit the enemy on the opposing side. If successful we will link up at the control center.”

Once acknowledged, Barrenfist’s squad moved out toward their destination, separating from the other group. “Check your weapons and ammo one more time marines. This could be it.” Talos ordered to the men and women with him before following his own advice.

Bretharr nodded in agreement. Was he slightly miffed that he didn’t get the glory of attacking the pirates through the main way? Yeah. But that was the more dangerous side anyways, so it was good. Less casualties means less sob stories to tell to the families of those dead.
“Good fortune to you gentlemen. Marines! Fall out!” He ordered, before marching down the route which he was supposed to, waiting for the main attack to take place when he reached cover

Both entrances to the command center the two teams of Republic marines would find the remaining pirates entrenched doorway makeshift barricades of tables and crates. As soon the brigands spotted their intruders they opened fire with rifles and shotguns. The marines would be once again forced to behind cover of the wall corners to avoid getting shot.

Dragon’s breath they got that spot sealed up tight. Talos thought, standing behind the left-hand corner that shielded him from the bombardment the defenders were giving. Two more marines laid dead on the floor in front of him. Brining up his rife, the sergeant popped his head out and fired a quick burst while Lt Renarus did the same on the same side. They fell back to cover and were reloading their weapons when a frag grenade landed at their midst.

“Grenade!” Renarus shouted as he dived without hesitation unto the small metal sphere, clutching it close to his body. Before Talos could react the small bomb went off, killing the officer before him. With stunned eyes Barrenfist looked down at the shredded body of Renarus who just gave his life to him and the others. Fury coursing the spaceborn and he took charge, ordering his squad members around.

“Suppressing fire now!”

As commanded several marines fired a volley while Barrenfist tossed a flashbang into the enemeis’ midst. He heard their cries of shock and pain and charged from the corner with a roar followed by the rest of the first squad, gunning down several stunned pirates.

Bretharr’s marines would stack upon the wall, before a flashbang would be thrown by one of his marines. Then, they would all come out of cover and mass fire all their weapons at the pirates, approaching slowly. Experience had taught him to never charge a barricade. It usually didn’t go very well.

The pirate defenders could not hold the two barricades due to the combined pressure they faced. The flashbangs used by both marine teams done it’s work. Many of the outlaws were left vulnerable, and their defense collapsed as a result.

Barrenfist’s marines climbed or pushed past the barricade in front of them as the most of the pirates before them died in the initial volley. The survivors tried to fall back scatter but then heard their comrades’ screams being cut down by Bargall’s force. Even so the raiders refused to surrender or weren’t given the option, engaging in close range combat. Talos, brought out a thermal axe, swinging it at a panicking enemy in the chest. At fired his P-99 pistol with the other hand into another one in the neck and one more right in the bac.

Within the moment Talos pulled the axe off his victim, the fight on his front was already over. One marine on his side wounded in the right shoulder along a second one cut in the face by a blade. Finally there lone marine faced down lifeless along with a dozen pirates around her. Sighing, Barrenfist turned to see what’s happening with Bretharr.

“INTO THEM!” He cried and so all the marines charged, as well as himself. Once they got up to the barricade, the majority of the marines began to gun down all the stunned pirates, whilst Bretharr and 1 marine began to break down the barricades. However, the firepower of the marines was enough, and all the pirates were slain at these barricades. A glorious victory then. Marvellous. Eventually the barricades were broken down, and himself and the marines rushed to meet up with his army comrades, where he noted that they had completed their task, albeit perhaps more bloodily.
“Very good. I think the central station is clear, but let us proceed with caution anyway.”
He said, and advanced with his marines
