BIOGRAPHY
Ren Vist was born to a warrior family on the Epicanthix homeworld of Panatha. During his early years in life his father, Kun Vist, began to teach him the ways of his people and the pride they had in being adept combatants. While they were no Mandalorians, the people of Panatha still carried some renown for their skills in warfare, and so it came to no surprise for many when the warring Jedi Exiles finally arrived on their doorstep looking to build up their forces. Ren, still far too young to truly understand the nature of the Force and the ambitions of the Exiles, knew only some of the stories he'd heard of Jedi and their rejected brethren, and some war he didn't quite understand. His people were warriors, but the might of this conquering band of warriors, even in its weakened state, still dwarfed that of one species, and soon soldiers were recruited, and force sensitives were hunted to bring along for field training.
Ren was quickly noticed by an Exile due to his sensitivity and was taken from his family to be trained along with their warbands. Whether his family put up any resistance or not is beyond his memory. He is unable to remember much before the torture began. Once with the Exiles, he began the unregimented training that all apprentices undergo, learning the ways of the Dark Side of the Force, honing their skills in combat, studying the teachings of both the Exiles and their past. But, perhaps more important all of that, learning to hate the Jedi. It was clear from even the young age of his arrival that his talents had always leaned more towards his force capabilities than his skill with a weapon, though by no means was he inept. Years of training and early assignments passed, and with time he achieved the rank of Exile Apprentice. A mockery to the Jedi by simply existing.
Now a full-fledged Exile, it was not long before an Exile Master by the name of Orphus Dalex took great interest in Ren, taking him under his wing so that he may become his disciple. However, it soon became apparent that Ren was not to be trained by his new master, no, he was intended to be a subject for the many experiments that he conducted. The Exile Orphus Dalex was renowned for his experiments melding the dark side with the biology of other living creatures, seeing how he could use it to alter their physiology in a variety of ways. Ren was unfortunately not to receive any interesting developments that Orphus made, and was used only as a guinea pig for his cruel hypotheses. Ren Vist was thus dubbed "Subject 856" and tormented for the next four years, subjected to every disgusting experiment that Orphus could concoct. His body was mutilated, opened, and altered on a weekly if not daily basis. He was tugged and ripped at by the Dark Side at his master's every whim, testing his fortitude, his endurance, the limits that the body could be changed using dark powers and then reverted to a semi-natural state. It was pure agony.
Ren endured much, and in those first few months of experimentation, he began to lose his sanity. But there were brief reprieves where he'd have time to recuperate before being sent on an assignment by his master to retrieve new materials or relics, usually to be used on himself in the following experiments. In times like those, he had to learn to reel his mind back in or risk being of no further use to Orphus. He had to endure or die. He began to apply his teachings with the Exiles to his present situation. He focused his emotions, drew on them for strength, fed off the dark side as it flowed through him. But he would grow to view things differently than most sith. Whereas others drew from their anger, he drew from his pain, and where others channeled their passions, he released his suffering and wrath. Most Exiles gave in to the emotions that would flood through them, but he understood that if he were to do so he would lose control and become as feral as the other beast-like subjects that his master had. So he controlled his emotions, used them as a tool and a focus to grow stronger in the force. He learned to recognize pain but never fear it, to not reflexively flinch from harm but to instead understand the consequences and mindfully avoid it. The minds of the Epicanthix were strong, and while Orphus Dalex could easily shatter his body and put it back together, allowing the dark side within his subject to mend its wounds so that it could survive, he never could shatter his mind.
In time Ren became stronger in the force, not necessarily in his ability to deal out damage, nor even in being able to better defend against it, but rather in his understanding of it. In the moments where he could manage to stay sane there was much he learned from his master's torture. How to use lightning to not burn the body but to suspend it in a constant state of agony, always able to bring someone back from the brink so they could endure more. How one could use the force not to harm another but to make it so they could still feel the pain. How to use the dark side to sustain his form, to survive the worst of the experiments when his master would miscalculate Ren's limit so that he could survive long enough to be metaphorically, and sometimes literally, put back together. However, even in Ren's tortured seclusion news could still reach his by way of a servant or in the brief reprieves he had, that the tragedy of Ilum occurred, and the forces on both sides were suddenly crippled. Ren was like many others, wondering what the future of the Jedi Exiles was, and how they would survive the coming years in a war they simply didn't have the resources for. How long it would be before he succumbed to the torment of his master, not knowing how he would handle the news. However, an Overlord would eventually rise, a woman named Andraste, and soon she led her people to the world of Korriban and Moraband. New worlds and a new Empire meant new resources, new opportunities, and many years of new tortures that Ren would have to endure.
However, one day the torture would come to an end. When it happened Ren was in a daze, just recovering from a recent session when an assault was carried out on Orphus' ship. By the armor he had seen raid through the vessel, Mandalorians had come for him. Ren would learn later on that his master had at some point taken a girl from a Mandalorian clan and submitted her as another one of his many subjects, and the Mandalorians had come to take what was their's and then some. Orphus Dalex was powerful but stood no chance against the full wrath of the Mandalorian boarders. When the fighting was done and they stumbled upon Ren's broken, hideous form in his former master's lab chamber, they took pity on him. Subject 856 released at last from his tormentor's clutches, Ren Vist begins again his ascension in the new Sith Empire, free at last to pursue his studies into the Dark Side, not with passion nor anger, but with agony and bitterness. And he would make the galaxy scream, just as he had for years.

APPEARANCE
Ren Vist once looked like any other young man from his clan on Panatha. He had inherited the auburn hair of his Vist bloodline, and the lithe but strong form of his maternal line. But that changed once Master Orphus Dalex managed to apprehend the young Knight and thus created his finest specimen of all, Subject 856. By the time the experimentation had come to an end and Ren was finally free, he no longer looked like the Epicanthix of old. Every inch of his body is covered in scars, healed burns, and minor augmentations. While he was the test subject for many enhancements created by his master, he was not permitted to keep any of them, and thus all of them were removed after each session. Organs throughout his body are either assisted by small machines to help keep them running or have been replaced entirely. It appears as if the dark side itself has been used to alter his shape over and over and over again until now it appears that it may be the only thing sustaining it. While his body was, in fact, tended to on a daily basis so he could recover from all of his injuries, healed with both technology and the force, every step looks as if it is taken with great pain, whether that be true or merely the ghost of his past. His face, once handsome and proud, is now disfigured and scarred, pressed into a permanent expression of pain, horror, and resentment.
To conceal his disfigured form Ren dons a simple outfit made of light garbs and basic armor that is adorned with a tattered cape worn on his back and waste, his entire appearance a combination of greys and reds. To hide his face from the world he wears a mask that he had made to help keep the truth of his figure a secret from the galaxy. In terms of gear immediately visible he wears two curved lightsaber hilts on his belt at all times. Despite what he's gone through, Ren puts on a constant stance of composure and calm, seeming to walk steadily and with reservation wherever he goes.

PERSONALITY
Ren, for all intents and purposes, has completely snapped. During the years of torture, constantly being broken down and then put back together so perfectly just so that he could be broken down again with no consequence took its toll. His every waking moment is filled with pain, no longer physical but now emotional, and misery and bitterness. Despite this though, he refuses to let it show. He never forgot the unforgiving nature of his comrades, the way they bite down and feast on anything that shows weakness, and so he chooses to show none. For those that come to hear his tale, he ensures that he is always reserved and in control, never letting anyone see the broken man that he is. When other Sith question his strength he relents to unleash his wrath so that others know that his reservation is a mercy to others, not a choice to follow some diluted path of weakness. He understands now better than most how badly things can spiral should he misstep even once, understand how much power over him members of the upper ranks have, and he intends to navigate it as smoothly as possible. He chooses to act first with his mind, then responds with his body. But for all of his control, it does not change the fact that his mind is fractured, his soul splintered, his very being as disfigured as his body. He intends to further his understanding of the dark side, and not by just studying, but by subjecting others to the agony that he himself went through. He will see the galaxy suffer as much as he has, and to begin he will need test subjects.
SKILLS
Martial Combat: Ren was taught from a young age how to fight, with a major emphasis on his agility and making use of both hands in combat. Because of this, he trained in a style of melee combat where he would dual wield his weapons of choice, and once he joined the Exiles this training continued to include the lightsaber. While he may not be as agile as he once was, long before his body was broken, he is still surprisingly durable and has adapted to his situation, managing to regain a modicum of the speed he once knew. His body, now broken many times over, even despite the healing, will take quite some time for him to adjust to being fully active once more.
Force Powers: Like all Sith, Ren has studied for many years in the ways of the Dark Side, and in that time developed many talents. His prowess with the Force has always exceeded his skills with a lightsaber, and because of this during the later years of his training with the conquesting warbands of the Jedi Exiles, he began to focus his efforts on developing his dark side powers. Over the years training on Exiles worlds, and during his time with Orphus Dalex, Ren has grown adept in several abilities such as telekinesis, sensing capabilities, use of Force Lightning, and even to some extent the manipulation and draining of life force. While admittedly the powers become more and more taxing as they become more powerful and time-consuming, he has been able to manage them to at least a respectable degree. Similarly, Ren has grown rather skilled in his capability to not just use specific arts that he has learned but to also use the Force merely as an extension of his will, opening up plenty of creative opportunities.

However, in this time he came to greatly understand the Dark Side of the Force and began to comprehend specific ways to utilize his powers in the future. Ren has learned to use the Force to sustain his body in times of great trauma and physical stress, managing to sustain his life force and consciousness long enough for himself or others to hopefully tend to his wounds. However he is far from immortal, and the consequences of serious injuries can only be pushed off for a very brief period of time before he will succumb to his wounds, assuming the attack doesn't kill him outright. Also, Ren has been exposed to the fine world of using the Force to torment others before killing them, and during his brief assignments for his master he began to practice using Lightning not to damage others but to paralyze and suspend them in moments of excruciating anguish, as well as having developed the skill to use the force to painfully trigger an opponent's nervous system in cripplingly agonizing ways.
