EXPECT SPOILERS

Pretty awesome ep. ^_^ Like last week, Tarkin stole every scene he was in however, I really feel like theyre bring up the Inquisitor in the level of badass. I also like how they apparently havent given the Inquisitor Sith Lightning but still have him make great use of the Force Abilities he does have. I dunno, Im just liking the Inquisitor lately. Im Intrigued to see what happens on Mustafar.

Dont like Chopper. He still annoys me like hell, although he did off five Stormtroopers.

I really dont like how Ezra name dropped Jedi to the smuggler guy and I predict thats going to lead to trouble down the road. I also dont like how the team disobeyed Hera. Ezra, Zeb and the Mandalorian chick came off as kind of bratty this ep.

Im also more and more sure that Fulcrum is Ahsoka Tano.

Anyway, this ep was pretty good, 7.5/10 but really a set up for the next one, which I expect will be utterly amazing. :D

A decent episode. Didn't falter at any point and I thought the actions within contributed to the plot in meaningful ways. I am happy to see that the Rebel crew is able to take their own personalities and conflict with each other in healthy, respectful, and meaningful ways instead of most writers who would take this opportunity to artificially create drama to further divide the team.

Ezra benefits from actually being able to reasonably control the force and finally having a projectile weapon that is viable. I, as shown on the site prior, have been extremely annoyed when Ezra just used his dumb sling shot thing that the show even exhibited how little effect it had. While I think the idea of a blaster/saber thing is kind of dumb, I will forgive it for actually giving Exra the ability to shoot Stormtroopers and nullify them. Even though the idea of it being an "electric/stun" gun is unnecessarily too pure seeing as the rest of the crew fairly openly kill soldiers. The attempts the show creates to skirt around such deaths is kind of annoying.

Hera got some characterization in her dedication to the mission versus her dedication to Kanan was actually refreshing and human. While I found the resolution a bit simplifies I will attempt to reconcile it with the fact we only have one more episode in the season so putting some plot points on a fast track works for me.

Sabine is strong as always. Showing agency and likable characteristics no matter what she does in addition to the reasonable depiction of handling all things tech. She continues to be my favorite character. Zeb also finally appeared useful in his precarious situation given the early episode firefight (though his full name is dumb as I just found out).

Chopper again is the worst character. Finally does something self sacrificing and shows concern for the crew... then tries to kill off another droid for purely selfish reasons. Seriously, Chopper is the worst character.

The season will most likely end with Kanan escaping the planet and hopefully the "victory" of saving him will be undercut by some tragedy on the planet that will force them to begin expanding their rebellion. Honestly it is kind of a stroke of genius to have Kanan know nothing of other Rebellions since he really doesn't seem to be given much else from Fulcrum or Hera. So if something happens to Lothal perhaps Fulcrum will repoint the Ghost to other Outer Rim locations to assist the Rebellion.

I think that would be the best move for this going forward into the second season. It would open the most opportunities and my main complaint for the season with how predictable the season has been.

The best move would be to kill someone in the finale. Pull a Whedon and enforce that nobody is safe and even lead into why nobody from the Ghost Crew is ever heard about in the Original Trilogy movies. My money would be on Kanan as it would force Ezra towards other characters, even though I think another thing the series has handled poorly was their inclusion of previous canon characters.

I was reading on a few different sites that people think Kanan will die, Fulcrum will be Ahsoka and then Ahsoka will take over Ezras training. Which could be cool having Ahsoka come back to be a main here, but then killing off the new guy to bring back the old model doesnt sit right with me for some reason...

How many seasons do we actually think this show will have? I mean, Season Five of the Clone wars was a season long high note for me and bam! Cancellation. Rebels has been given a second season but they could always pull a Young Justice on us and introduce us to a 'new' team instead of focusing on the current crew. My brain isn't working when it comes to predictions right now. XD

Yes, I agree this would be an interesting turn events that I actually wanted from the season outset almost specifically. While not Ahsoka, I was much preferring a female Jedi instructor for the Padawan type character. I do agree Kanan sacrificing himself in a similar way to Obi-Want to make way for Ahsoka to reluctantly take up his training (inadvertently maintaining the improper teacher dynamic since Ahsoka herself was only a Padawan) really works for me.

Season five, despite being the worst season to me, was only the last season of Clone Wars mainly for marketing reasons. Disney gained control of the Star Wars property and wanted a series that better played into/cashed into their future move endeavors. Clone Wars did not fail due to ratings, since a lot of the production team was kept on and continuity maintained in the form of announced returning actors.

Here is the thing about Young Justice, I am not sure about your feelings on the show but I will assume you loved it. The Second season of Young Justice was a sloppy mess. Too many characters, cramped plot points per episode, and they tried to emulate the vastly superior Justice League while not doing the things that made Justice League successful. Also search the real reason why YJ failed. They admitted the same problem that JLU ultimately had. Not enough boys liked the show so they weren't selling enough toys.

Yes, YJ did not fail because of its admittedly weak second season but because not enough adolescent penises bought their toys.

Don't get me wrong. I loved Not!Teen Titans season one. Could have hidden the fact they were loosely adapting Young Justice comic plots to the original Titan team and I even think that season 3 was angling to try and absolve some of those sins. Not enough young boys liked the show. So that killed it.

I optimistically believe that Star Wars are less concerned with toy sales figures. I also hope they are appreciative of their ratings vs. budgets facts since they neutered Rebels' working budget compared to any season of Clone Wars. The show has been doing well from what I have observed so hopefully that translates into a bright future for the show.

I just want Ahsoka not dead. XD

How was Season Five the Weakest to you?? For me it was like.... a very close second to Season 3.

As for YJ I ADORED Season One and like... 60 percent of Season two. It WAS extremely cluttered, but I feel like it was ultimately a big set up for Season 3 from the beginning. I also already knew the reason it failed, being a total fanboy. I only namedropped the series as an example for what they could do with season two, starting it off with new characters. I dont know where the YJ education came from. XD

Then again, what if a Korra happens? Werent they originally going to flatout cancel the show because of lack of viewership when the show aired on Nick and thats why they finished it digitally? Ugh... so many possibilities. :/

Agreed. she was the most interesting character aside from Asajj to me though she kind of needs to die before Ep IV

I feel like most of the story arcs went on too long and sullied the strength of the said arcs. For example the Padawan crystal arc should have been two episodes or less and not left on to do a circus for pirates. The droid arc was interesting, but it went on far too long and the idea of an amnesic Clone Commando could have honestly been its own story instead of being shoe horned to the droid arc. The Darth Maul Mandalorian stuff was just completely unbearable to me. The only part of the season I remember enjoying was Ahsoka's trial.

Comparing YJ to Rebels was ultimately disingenuous (aside from the inanity of a justifying a season to set up another) then if you knew why that show fundamentally failed. Especially considering they are two different properties fundamentally (one trenched in cinema while the other is in comic books) and on different networks with different values and produced by different companies with different price points.

Huh... same. FINALLY someone who thought they were the two best characters. Because Assaj gets alot of hate. Like... ALOT.

Huh... thats an interesting viewpoint. I personally loved the Darth Mandalorian stuff and thought some of the best moments from the series were in it. Except (well kindanotreally) when Satine died. That moment was like... omg. T_T T_T T_T

Ok cool. Big words. Right. Back to the discussion. I used one show and the approach it had with its second season (introducing the audience to a new cast of characters not from the first season) for an idea of what they could do with this next season. To me thats a pretty simple concept and didn't require a condescending explanation of the failures of 'Not!Teen Titans'. It wasnt disingenuous in any way as I wasn't acting oblivious to why YJ failed, I was using the approach to Invasion with a new cast as an example for what the writers of Rebels could do for season two and in fact, I mentioned nothing about YJ and its fate other than the approach to its 'new cast new season' in that post and in the following post followed it up again with me explaining it was essentially a throwaway example. Like people generally do in conversations. I was aiming to keep the focus around Rebels (Star Wars etc) and brought up its second season, possibilities and so forth, and you branched out with reasons why Invasion failed even though that fundamentally had no place in this convo.

Lets try to keep this centered on the subject (Rebels, Clone Wars, Star Wars), instead of this dicktionary measuring contest? Theres really nothing you've stated about YJ that any fanboy with google didnt know already in the first place. ^_^

Shibby. Ahsoka grew on my as a character only had room to grow as they knew what they wanted to do with her and Ahsoka gre stronger the more the began to develop her agency and separate her from the weakly portrayed CIS that had no need for her. Though I like to ignore the Dathomir stuff.

I thought the Darth Maul inclusion to become Mandalore was just too fanficcy. While I would actively say Maul was undercut as a villain I just don't find the Clone Wars fixing that as bringing him back as part of the Mandalorian story line which I am of two minds about. I will admit part of that is site bias in that I was largely done with all things Star Wars pertaining to the Mandos, but liked the pacifist approached.

Your original statement of Rebels being renewed for a second season worried about a "Season 2 YJ" scenario. I believe my discussion and drawing of parallels in previous posts have illustrated how the situation is both different in terms of success goals, fundamental writing, and network handling. I am sorry if you took offense from my various approaches of the idea that you proposed, but I feel I still handled your question as well as any possible others from concepts you thought unrelated or did not understand. So I did answer your question effectively on all fronts and to other audiences you did not consider.

Ahsoka and Ahsoka? :P But nah I get what you mean. The only thing I didnt like about Dathomir was that they did a royal screw up with Ventress v Grievous. Then again, Grievous as a character was... dumb in that series.

I get what you mean about fanficy. I did like the idea of Maul creating something strong behind him, but i think we all knew Sidious was gunna intervene at some point. Though I was expecting Grievous or Dooku, not the old prune himself. XD

That was my original statement. There are no other fronts to that statement. It literally says, and I quote:

"Rebels has been given a second season but they could always pull a Young Justice on us and introduce us to a 'new' team instead of focusing on the current crew"

Did we even get around to talking about the possible number of seasons? I dont know what other things you're imagining there. Its the most simplistic statement in the world. Ill apologize for seeming a little bitchy here, but Im really failing to see how this was misunderstood. There really isn't anything that brought the big ol YJ lecture into play here other than perhaps the opportunity to tell someone else exactly how much more you know about a subject than them. Like, you've literally taken a throwaway quote and started an argument about it. Which happens a lot on the internet. Egos and all that. And Google. I kinda feel like Google is a part of it. Though Ill admit disingenuous was a new one. So uh... thanks for that. XD

I don't know whether to explain it again or just laugh at the fact I'm arguing over something so simple. :/ Like, that statement has caused discussion on the level of the time J-Law leaked her nudes all over the net.

Once again... an example. Please dont start preaching to me about like... her resume or something. Anyway, off to bed now.

It's the deficiency of prequels in general. Since we hear nothing of Maul in Ep III we know he can not succeed. It's the problem I personally have with a lot of the new OT content coming out in Rebels or the comics. I know nothing of consequence will happen.

I am not sure what you are on about. Again, I covered why I thought season 5 was weak, I covered how the situation is different for YJ both in terms of the YJ show and the merits of Clone Wars v. Rebels (you brought up YJ in comparison so it is eligible to bring up as the crux of your statement) and their respective new channels since Cartoon Network handled Clone Wars and Young Justice and Disney handles Rebels. In address to the other fronts I mentioned I refer to the arguments to seem to refer to as "lecture". You also state your "brain is not working when it comes to prediction" those are the other fronts to my statement when I analyze the comparison and contrast to YJ and Rebels or even Clone Wars.

I do not entertain the idea of a "introduction of a new crew" as even YJ did not introduce a new crew. Half the team were aged up members of the Team with pretty easily looked over time skip baggage other than Superboy and Miss Martian. Again, Rebels is an entirely different show on a different network. The parallels are not pertinent.

Fair enough, we did not explicitly cover specifically how many seasons we think it will be granted, but again I refer to my statement about how Disney is a different network not run by toy sales as much as Cartoon Network and how Rebels was granted a different budget from Clone Wars so it is largely determinant how Rebels does as a show. These are statements I did make in post #4 of this thread in the last paragraph.

If you were somehow offended by my "YJ lecture" I am not sure why you are. I provided information on the show given your referral to people who may not know about the show. I illustrated my points while describing it to others who may not know about the show and parallels you are gathering. It is more than you and I to consider in this thread. If you felt your point of view was conflicting with what I said that is on you. Don't get caught up in my rhetoric or use of words, but find actual points to come at me with.

I hardly preach and I will most definitely not comment on how "Jennifer Lawrence leaked her nudes". Since there is confusion I will try to state it as simply ass possible.

1. You said you wanted Kanan to die and Ahsoka to teach Ezra

I agreed

2. You said season 5 was successful and how a new show could be like another unrelated show on another network in introducing a new cast and being unsuccessful.

I offered how I thought season 5 was not as great, pointed out how Season 5's cancellation was not due to the show. Then pointed out how YJ was not a like comparison due to it ending on different reasons than Season 5 so comparing it to a different show on a different network was incomparable. I do later admit to not putting a number of seasons in address to your original post in this very post, but my response is still "different network, different shows, different problems."

3. You didn't want Ahsoka to die and I agreed, You asked how I thought Season 5 was weak and I answered. You bring up YJ again and I discuss it with you. You admit that Season 2 has its faults and I state my opinion how a season to set up a season is a weak concept. Again, "What they could do with season two" I point out again how "different network, different show, different problems." comes into play.

4. We agree Asajj should get more love, but disagree on Mandalore Maul which is fine. You don't like my "big words" you state how you used another show's second season (YJ) to compare to another show which again my point has been "different network, different shows, different problems." You want to keep it centered on Star Wars but your argument is still based around the concept of YJ.

5. We find common ground on Ahsoka and how some of Maul's Mando stuff felt fan ficcy. You make the argument "how many season" which I do reply to above fair enough, but my argument continues to be "different network, different shows, different problems."

So yeah. Not sure what there is to discuss.

Saw some fan art that made Grievous a scary bad ass again. Made me sad.

grievous_vs_clonetroopers_by_livio27-d2za6um.jpg

Ok... that is just sad. Why couldn't he have been scary in the Clone Wars? T_T Especially as the seasons got darker and darker. It might have ended up being so amazing for his character at the end of the day.

It's the deficiency of prequels in general. Since we hear nothing of Maul in Ep III we know he can not succeed. It's the problem I personally have with a lot of the new OT content coming out in Rebels or the comics. I know nothing of consequence will happen.

Unless Ahsoka or Ventress die? That would be big to me. XD Plus I wanna know where Maul went after his little comic. But nah I get what you mean there. Its not like any of the bigger characters can die. I kind of hope they re canonize Starkiller somehow. Loved those games.

As for the rest... I feel like we've wasted more than enough time on that. I think I get what you're saying, I was just frustrated since I think you don't get what Im saying here. I didnt bring YJ into the convo originally to compare/contrast the failures of that show with the possible outcome of what could happen with Rebels. I just thought more of the being introduced to the 'new cast' at the start of the season and going whereever the heck they want after that. I feel like you're looking at everything I've said as a single statement and Im focused on this one point. XD

Um... all I meant to say with my throwaway YJ reference could have been done with any show that had a new season with the same idea. I wasn't saying Rebels should follow all the creative decisions the show made and fail, I was saying they could take the idea of having an initially unfamiliar cast at the beginning of the season. Like the writers of the show saying "Hey, what if we start off season two completely without the crew of the Ghost and focus on a different band of Rebels for an episode or two?"

Do you get what I mean??

Then let me simplify by saying the reason I point out the differences of YJ differences is as a proxy for the other similar shows you refer to. The whole point of what I was saying was I think Rebels will not be affected by that and those cases are far too dissimilar and failed for other reasons than that they brought on new characters.
