History

-The Rakata-

The early natives of Lohen, often referred to as “the builders” (not to be confused with the architects) were sentient creatures of distinct characteristics. They’re eyes were horizontal stalks and limbs Tridactyl. Their civilization flourished in the early galactic years, somewhere around 35,000 BBY. The reason behind this sudden rise to supremacy was due in part to outside terrestrial influence and a strong connection to the force. However, the Rakata soon became corrupted. They were known to be brutal and cruel: subjugating whole worlds, terraforming planets to suit their changing needs, even eating their enemies and family.

-Rise of the Rakata-

The Rakata Empire was one of the predecessor governments to the Galactic Republic. Otherwise known as the Infinite Empire, they were a scientifically advanced race that used their power to conquer and enslave species all over the Galaxy.

Their rise to power started when the Kwa, a force-sensitive reptilian species from Dathomir, arrived on Lehon via infinity gate technology which allowed instantaneous travel across star systems. Benevolent and kind, the Kwa became the Rakatas benefactors, choosing to teach them about the force and giving them advanced technology. Despite the Kwas lessons of balance, the cannibalistic Rakata drew power from the dark side. Unquenchable their thirst for conquest, they used the Kwa technology to expand their influence into the unknown regions of space. They called themselves the Infinite Empire. Their desire for force rich worlds brought them into contact with many eclectic species whom were promptly enslaved.

The Rakata developed technology which could induce fear and hatred in force sensitive beings. Force sensitive slaves from the populations they conquered were used to power their warships and technology by placing them in machines that converted their dark side emotions into energy. The Architects and Kwa attempted to stop the Rakata from spreading further but ultimately fell short with the creation of the Star Forge. This massive factory was placed in orbit over the star Abo, in the Lehon star system, and produced their weapons of war using the power of force sensitive slaves. The architects finally succumbed to Rakata rule after introduction of an engineered plague. In their last stand, they crafter a device to prevent them from reaching the expanse west of the galactic core. This is perhaps why hyperspace turbulence occurs here.

-The fall of The Infinite Empire-

At it’s zenith, the Rakata had over five hundred force-rich planets under their control, linked by the infinity gate technology. However, it could only be linked to worlds strong in the force. This ultimately proved a problem as the regions in between would form loose confederacies. After thousands of years of supremacy, the Empire fractured. Civil war came as independent factions vide for control. This was a direct result of the star forge and its corrupting influence. Shortly after, weakened by the collapse, a deadly plague spread through their ranks. Millions died and those whom survived had lost their connection to the force. Sensing the Rakatas weakness, slaves rebelled against their masters. Entire planets began to rise up, forcing the Rakata from their star systems and driving them back to their home world of Lohen.

Protected by a disrupted field, they quarreled amongst themselves. Their need for supremacy spelled extinction for the species. Just as they slowly destroyed themselves so did their former slaves erase them from history. The technology they used, the monuments constructed in their image, all destroyed to make way for an inherently better way of life. Once a grand unstoppable force, now nothing more than a distant echo.

-Current Knoweledge of Rakata and the Infinite Empire-

The mythology of the architects and builders of old is nothing more than a bed time story in these days. It’s rare for anyone to know who the Rakata were and their precursor government. Still not all records of their conquest could be completely culled from the galaxy they once ruled. Tucked away on ancient plants and deep catacombs a story is told. One that paints a feint image of what once was. Artifacts from these times can easily sell for somewhere in the billions and finding a piece of technology is to be considered priceless. However the technology is too advanced for any species to replicate in this current time. Those who manage to even find an intact artifact often find it booby trapped and forfeit their lives to this endeavor.

Intent

My intent for this Lore is to add depth to the vast history of the Star Wars galaxy. With proper regulation this could be used to introduce other concepts like force powered technology. As for the rules regarding our site, I advocate for story over individual success. When exploring far off worlds I’d like to add some mysticism.

A few points on this one.

First thing is that a lot of this seems pretty direct from Wookieepedia. So make sure to address that if you continue with the idea.

While we do allow a lot of legends material to work into our Lore, I am extremely hesitant on Rakata or Infinite Empire. The tech becoming a big quest for everyone to find some ancient super tech would not fly. Honestly a bit unsure if there is a middle ground here to find. I'll talk to some others to see what we think before I archive it, but in the meantime you should adjust the intent at the very least.

@Cazar

The information is from Wookiepedia but Believe me that I tried to use my own words.

Thank you for the advice, I’ve adhered to it. Hopefully we can get something going here.

The Infinite Empire is not something we're going to enter into our lore right now, because it could have serious implications and require a lot of retconning if later canon materials keep it out of the picture.

Archived for now.
