Cartographer

HISTORY:
Quinn Bokete was born on the planet Chalacta making him a native Chalactan. His physique is close to that of a pure-blood human, though his ancestral and cultural heritage is so unique it makes his people fall into the Near-Human column. Quinn Bokete's people are deeply religious, crafting grand temples to their religion, as well as practicing some force-like abilities. His peoples roots are so deep on the homeworld of Chalacta that so many ancient cities and temples have been lost to time.

The act of uncovering and bringing to light new and unexplored areas was the spark that set off Quinn's passion for cartography and star mapping. He would often sit up late at night as a young boy and watch the small star ships taking off from the city of Jordir. As they left the up and coming space port and traveled to the stars above, he would dream of all of the undiscovered planets and peoples out there in the Galaxy. When he was a little boy the Republic still had some control over the Mid-Rim where Chalacta sits, the discovery of a new sentient species that had not reached hyperspace potential was strictly forbidden at the time, though with failing power and constant battles in the Inner Rim the republic forces were quickly called away, and what used to be a more civilized area of the Galaxy was quickly taken over by scum and villainy, creating a wild space of uncertainty.

At the tender age of sixteen Quinn met his first adventurer in a cantina where he bused tables for his job. The spacer was obviously drunk, but the stories he told Quinn set a flame inside his heart. The spacer had met seven as of yet undiscovered alien species, mapped thirteen worlds that were later to be turned into colonies, and even happened upon an asteroid belt in the Outer Rim that was supposed to be the edge of known space. The spacer was in Jordir for four days, he would spend every night at the cantina, and every night he would tell Quinn a new set of stories about the great beyond, each more tantalizing than the last. At the end of the four days the spacer, having finally gotten out of his constant drunken stupor, gave Quinn a parting present, a data pad with a map of Chalacta on it. It wasn't serious tech it could only old three other maps on it, the tools required to map the areas did not come with it as many portable mapping equipment came in the shape of large cumbersome back packs or scanners on ships, but it did help fuel his desire to learn about the world surrounding him. From that day on he spent every credit he earned buying small mapping tools, going to school to learn about planetary science, astronomy and many mor subjects. Quinn eventually became such a fantastic tracker and cartographer that local hunters would pay to have him map an area for wild life so that they could hunt and gather as much of the new and expanding worlds were set up in haste before the entire world could be analyzed.

When Quinn turned twenty he left home aboard a junker headed out to the Outer Rim. From there he hoped he could jump ship onto another passing by explorer and see the Galaxy in it's infancy. Though these were just the pipe dreams of a boy, he still hoped he could find his way. Saying goodbye to his parents, he boarded the junker under the command of Captain Yuna Drohlt, a retired Republic fleet Captain settling down for the spacer life. Captain Drohlt also had in his command two others, Stacci Prell the engineer, and Fred Monogar the tech officer. The junker, known as "Count Dalamond", was put through it's paces under the command of Captain Drohlt. Quinn ended up staying two years aboard the junker, though by the time they reached Hutt Space on his first flight with the crew the junker ship quickly became a shuttle for passengers and refugees trying to escape the crime of the Outer Rim. Many missions took "Count Dalamond" back to Chalacta which gave Quinn ample time to sell his star charts and system maps out on the market, boosting his already glowing reputation with the locals on Chalacta but also getting his name out into the Galactic Community.

Captain Drohlt was a good man, from the planet Corellia and a real patriot to the Republic, though after a hefty 46 years of service in the Military the 66 year old man needed a retirement. He got out just in time too before the fall of the Jedi and the end of the Civil War and beginning of the shadow wars. Stacci Prell was a spacer Tw'i'lek from Ryloth. Gorgeous like many of their kind though very strict about the people she talks too, she also never trusted a droid. Fred Monogar was a quiet man, he liked the shock of the wires connecting through him if he needed a quick fix, he had fried his brain from too much spice several years earlier and Captain Drohlt was the only one who would give him a job. Quinn liked the rag-tag team, and he was quickly accepted into their fold becoming their personal cartographer, though he also learned the other skills they each offered. From Captain Drohlt he learned how to fly ships, mostly speeders but in a pinch he could pilot a star fighter. Talking to Stacci Prell he learned basic mechanics and how to talk to women, and from Fred Monogar he learned some easy hacking tips and tricks and even excelled nicely in communications.

When Quinn was twenty-two he left the "Count Dalamond", using what money he saved to buy a smaller vessel of his own with an exterior antenna for preliminary mapping scans of a single area of a planet that could map up to 100,000 square meters from low atmosphere as well as a portable, yet still bulk mapping pack that Quinn carries on his back when on foot. He was also able to spend the rest of his money on a working speeder bike with enough storage to hold his mapping back pack plus an antenna to remotely transmit data back to his ships console.

APPEARANCE:
Quinn has oil black dark curly hair. He trims it short on the sides and leaves a decent amount on top so he can sweep it back or to the side. He shaves constantly but almost always develops a five'O'clock shadow by the end of the day, but that hardly matters as his face is usually dirty with sand or something else because he always rides his speeder bike. He has a slim figure which is finely toned though he doesn't have much muscle mass, he mostly focuses on cardio if he works out. He stands at 5'11" and weighs 133 lbs.

His usual attire consists of a fades red scarf that he drapes over his head into a hood, or face mask or just leaves it around his neck. Goggles to keep the sand, dust and wind out of his eyes, a khaki colors jacket and a light sandy long sleeve shirt underneath with faded dark green pants and boots.

TOOLS:

Mapping data back pack
~ collects detail scans of immediate area using a wand and accompanying antenna to remotely transmit data back to the ships console where it is stored.

Pistol
~ Two types of blaster fire, stun, and regular. The weapon comes in a variety of colors and models but with Quinn pinching credits all the time he stays with the generic model (Top blaster) without any editions to the weapon.

Ship
~ He has named his small ship "The Zephyr" A small vessel the Nerf-Herder, holding only the requirements for space travel. The ship holds one occupant with accompanying droid if the pilot has need for one. Quinn's bunk contains a bed that folds into the wall, a small bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Engine room which holds the outer-space engines and atmospheric engines switch as well as the life support systems. The cockpit which has an open floor plan that connects with the mid-section of the ship that holds the console mapping data and computer with transmitter to the portable mapping pack. The extra equipment included is an internal comms array, long range and short range sensors. There is a small storage space underneath the ship for extra supplies and Quinn's speeder bike. He gains access to that part of the ship via ladder from the mid-section which leads into the storage facility and then to the loading ramp.
The Ship has light armaments, only two twin blasters from the front, yet the small size of the ship allows for better maneuverability and speed, but also sacrifices fire power and durability. Still a reliable ship for the needs of Quinn.
The ship connects to a hyperspace ring via connecting ports on the underside of the ship as well as a security latch in the back that connects to the engine. The ships hyperspace rating is an easy 6.0 that allows him to go slow enough to track new hyper lane routes though he has yet to do so.

Speeder Bike
~ A simple speeder bike, the Terrex, with a few added modifiers, the bike goes a bit more slowly now but it can hold more with saddle bags on the rear end sides. Quinn also added a rack for his mapping equipment on the back of the bike with an extra sensory antenna to boost the upload signal to his ship.

Hey there! Profile seems good, though you’ll have to submit the datapad in the tech boards. I’m gonna tag @AutoFox as I’m not sure if it would be a generic thing or not and he’d know better than I would!

I'm gonna say that an Automatic Mapping Datapad would be something you'd have to submit for approval; to my knowledge, even in the era of the original movie trilogy, portable sensor packs are big and bulky, not something that would fit in a datapad. Also, what kind of ship is this character flying? What kind of speeder bike?

Hey there. The gear you are going to use needs to be linked from the technology board (The ship, the speeder bike, blasters, any armor. etc etc) And you should give the new tech rules and guidelines a read. You are still going to have to submit the mapping device as tech for approval.

Be sure to steer clear of the items listed as advanced tech as those require tech plots to obtain.

And charge up blasters won't work in the timeline due to the state of blaster and pulse-wave technology. After 2 attempts at them got archived, you are better off not trying, and instead use one of many non-advanced tech blasters that exist.

great thanks for the help. I'm pretty rusty with this site and I usually base my character off of what pictures I can find, I'll make sure to switch it up. Just to be clear I'm not making anything special with my ship or blasters, will I still need to create tech apps for them, I kind of just wanted a generic ship. I'll make the tech apps for the mapping equipment and the speeder bike for sure but I just want to be sure. Thanks again.

There are tons of blasters and stuff in approved tech and generic tech. As for generic ship, the Nerf-Herder is your best bet. There is also the Fathier that got recently approved as well. The Terrex is a good speeder bike too. So just browse the tech boards and stuff. That just leaves the mapping equipment.

Submit the tech through the tech boards first and when it gets approved you go from there.

Blaster pistols still need to be liked to approved weapons from the tech board and data pack will either need to be linked to an approved tech submission or removed before approval.
