So, where to start, whelp, i never liked playing sith or jedi, mostly because i can't see myself on a universe with rifles using swords and because the common meat-puppet for the grinder is always more fun.
I always loved Mandalorians, but they too feel too "cliché" to play.
So, my choices are the Grand Army, Border Alliance and Ziost Disciples for "the big ones".
Now im actually gonna start with the questions:
-The Grand Army has a section of his own, but i don't see anything for the Border Alliance, why?
-more importantly, i don't see any info what so ever about the disciples of Ziost.
-are minor faction members able to partecipate on story threads like, for example, The Battle of Coruscant?
-Do the Republic Troopers use an armor similar to the one saw on The Old Republic game as common armor? As i don't think a Organized military would permit such a degree of equipment customization.

That's all for now, maybe as answers roll i will have more.
Edit:And i just saw i wrote tomorrow wrong, gg.

To answer your questions:

1) The Border Alliance was recently restructured into the Grand Army, so it no longer exists.

2) The Sacred Band of Ziost are part of the Sith Brotherhood, serving along side the Sith. While they don't have their own dedicated board like the GAR, they do have their own Rank structure and a separate Sign-Up on the Sith faction board. Their history is also one in the same with the Sith's, which you can read about here.

3) As far as I know, there is no standardized kit for Republic soldiers as of yet. But the Republic as a faction just underwent a leadership change, and new things are in the works that aim to streamline the faction and provide so much needed organization. For more on that, I would direct you to @Soverin, our resident Republic FL.

Hope this helped!

If you change your mind about Mandalorians being too "cliche", we have a lot of big story opportunities coming up! Having recently declared Mandalore independent from the Republic and reforming the government into the Mandalorian Dominion.

aaaand, cut
The mando merc inside me says yes please now that i know Mandalore is back to indipendence.
I will probably start with you guys, but i will wait for a responce from Soverin, after all more than one Oc is allowed, right?.
Anyway, is it possible for Mando's to join the battle of Coruscant? Maybe as mercs for one of the sides or something similar.
Also, indeed you helped Gamov, thanks for the fast answer.

Yes you are allowed 3 OCs, two of which can be in Main Factions.

Most of the Coruscant threads are open to all, so yes it is possible. In fact the current, soon to be deposed for story purposes, Mand'alor is fighting in a duel of single combat on Coruscant right now.

How do you feel Mandos are too clichéd? There are plenty of ways to play non-cliché Mandos, or to make them really unique, fun and interesting ways to play. Plus like Arclight said there are loads of story opportunities coming up.

Also, the Mandos are currently the only the only faction (being that they're an indie group) to start out with nothing and make something of themselves; nothing has really been given to them. Plus, the Mandos here are very story focused, everything they've done they've earned through stories and RP. That means plenty of opportunities for your character!

If you really love Mandos I'd encourage you to try and play at least one of your three as a Mando! :)

Never choose not to do a character because you feel like it's overdone or cliche. Make a character that you're going to enjoy making and roleplaying, that'll make you invested in his wellbeing and care about him like he's real. To hell with anything else, it's your character.
