Hello! I'm new, unfortunately, and am still trying to explore everything as I go so please bear with me.
A bit of background: My first character, Roth Khalifi, is a Force-sensitive child who came from a backwater subsistence-farming planet and became aware as such, as well as having received only the most rudimentary of Jedi "training" through his contact with a washed-up once-Jedi NPC in his past. She was hunted down by bounty hunters not too long ago, propelling him into being sent off-world to get him to someone who could train him right since she was so broken down by her ordeals with the Force that she refused to give him anything aside from those basics (Force Sense, danger sense etc.). Now he travels alone, with a holo message from her to show to any Jedi he crosses paths with as proof that he is there to seek training -- but his primary interest at this point is to find safety.
With that said, I have two questions, for the NJO faction as well if appropriate?
Q1. Should I apply to join the faction before the character finds the Order in-character?
I would love to be able to role-play this discovery ICly instead of tacking on some assumptions that he made contact with someone in his biography, and I'm hesitant to even put him down as Jedi since he's just a kid traveling alone and I can't think of a logical reason why some Sith won't snatch him up for a dose of hatred-fueled propaganda -- if this is even something I should be worried about at all. Is there a forum I can post in to inform players with Jedi Knights or Masters or even fellow Padawans who are interested, or should I just wave people down and...well, roll with it?
Q2. Slightly off-topic from the previous question, but hey, a question! Where do we find the crystals to make lightsabers here?
A matter of minimal importance at the current time because frankly Roth needs to get his butt attached to a proper Force-user first, whichever faction he ends up with notwithstanding, but just to confirm. Do we still get the crystals by going through trials, or are we stealing from the Empire, or are we robbing lightsabers off our brothers' and sisters' corpses, etc.? Recycle, right?
