Question about species creation/alteration?

Is it possible to have a character that has been mutated or genetically altered in some way, if there is a plausible and/or scientifically proven reason for it? It wouldn't give them mutant strength or powers, its mostly just for aesthetic. The character in question is non-humanoid, and would also suffer from any interrelated health issues that come with said mutation. Would this alteration be allowed, or should I put in an application for a new species?

In addition, can one of my character's have a junk droid built from spare parts, if I specifically list which parts are from which droid? Or would I need to get that approved as new technology?

The droid yes.

The species mutation. Where in a fictional world called Starwars, I'm sure there has been mutation like that before. So I'd say yes, do what you got to do.

I do also believe you can give your character increased senses and strength and stuff, just don't go overboard, and at least make it harder for your character to control said powers.

There doesn't really have to be a scientific reason for the mutation, remember: there is magic in star wars. If its for aesthetics like you said then you don't need to fill out an application.

As for the droid, unless it can do things other droids in its class can't normally do then you don't need to get it approved.

Next TL in setting up a scientist who likes to mess around with genetic coding. If you want he can mutate you in an "expirement gone wrong" type rp and that can add to the backstory of why your character is like he/she/it is now.

I was planning on having my character born the way he is, but that sounds very interesting! Thanks for the info!
