HISTORY

The first to hatch from a clutch of abandoned eggs floating in a dark corner of the sea world Glee Anselm, the first sensation Qû’jara ever knew was hunger.

Some aquatic species favor this quantity over quality approach to the parental care of their offspring, but most Nautolans consider it an ancient tradition, borderline taboo, a relic of a more primitive era in their culture, and yet one upheld by some of the more traditionalist clans.

Qû’jara hails from a distant branch of the lineage that gave rise to such heroes as Kit and Neaed Fisto, fallen out of favor for breaking with the pacifist majority during the antique war with the land-dwelling Anselmi when their civilization was in its infancy.

Ever since they and other shunned Nautolan clans have dwelt in deeper waters, forming their own kingdoms and baronies amid reefs and coral outcroppings in the undersea, fed by bioluminescence rather than surface light.

So she was born alone in the cold dark of the abyss, and as a tadpole she devoured her brothers and sisters to sustain herself.

The old ways say that Nautolans born under this ill omen inherit the strength of their clutchmates, and perhaps it is so, for Qû grew to a prodigious size and stature.

But nothing has ever satisfied Qû’jara's hunger.

For a creature that grew in the dark, thrived in the deepest abyss of the ocean world Glee Anselm, the light had never been an answer to any of the thousand questions that stirred Qû’jara's soul in her youth.

Where did her strength come from? Why did she crave so much more of it? Descendant of a warrior lineage, it was not long before the tadpole Qû earned her full name: she that eats in the abyss in Nautila.

Besides the instincts of a natural predator, she also inherited the rare strand of profound Force sensitivity that some Nautolans displayed, and quickly she dominated in the small tidal pools with her larval peers.

As she continued to grow, molting until she matched the largest of her species, in the dark trenches along the tectonic plates of Glee Anselm she inherited some of the mysteries of the Sälãi Käsi, an ancient birthright by way of her distant matrilineal ancestry and a fundamental aspect of her deep-dwelling Nautolan clan's religious beliefs.

The deepwater ecological communities quickly became claustrophobic to the young Qû’jara Jinyeva, who sought to understand herself, and to understand the darkness.

When she emerged from the sea in search of the legendary worlds where she knew the dark would hear her, as she heard it calling out to her, the destination was clear. Korriban was far away... but not impossibly far.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Skills.

— spatial intelligence: living underwater required Jinyeva to acquire an excellent sense of 3D awareness in a way difficult for most terrestrial lifeforms to fully comprehend; this intuitive understanding of space has benefited her in everything from strategic warfare exercises to combat training

— natural predator: there is something to her economy of movement and alien body language, periods of perfect stillness punctuated by quick movement, that can be unnerving. Qû’jara bears her nature like a mantle. She has an excellent tactical mind, quickly adapting to new situations.

Attributes.

— alien psychology & physiology: Qû’jara is a surprisingly emotional creature, but it can be difficult to understand from a typical mammalian perspective. Her body language from a human point of view is extraordinarily mute, borderline emotionless, but this is partly a cultural divide. Still, the Nautolan Sith is capable of compartimentalizing her sentimentality more easily than many humans. Furthermore, Nautolan communication is highly pheromone-based and a fundamental axis of their self-expression

— warrior heritage: Though possessed of a keen tactical and strategic mind, Qû’jara is fundamentally a warrior, and is far from battle-shy. To her war is a means of expression and a tremendous outlet, as well as a visceral way of forging bonds with other sentient beings, be they of love or hatred.

— lover of exotic art: Beginning with traditional Nautolan music, which can only be experienced underwater in Nautila, Qû’jara developed a fascination with unique expressions of art among different species, and in her private chambers collects a number of peculiar artifacts.

Training.

— Sith Academy graduate: Qû’jara was a top graduate of her generation in the Sith Academy, showing a profound inward dedication to her studies but without much attachment or rivalry with her fellow students. This means she has a working knowledge of galactic history, strategy and warfare, and other related tertiary level education in diplomacy, perhaps certain related fields such as the flow of interstellar commerce, and a handful of her own interests.

— Force powers: Qû’jara is the quintessential example of a competent Sith Champion, showing excellent fundamentals, favoring kinetic fields such as telekinesis more than abstract concepts such as telepathy, though she is not totally incapable in these fields. She is particularly competent at applications of the Force and energy manipulation centered on enhancing her physical capabilities and protecting herself. She is interested in but totally uneducated in matters of the more mystical branches of the Force's metaphysics, such as Sith alchemy and other magic.

— Sälãi Käsi initiate: before leaving her homeworld, Qu began learning the secrets of this particular subdiscipline of Teräs Käsi and has a firm grasp of its fundamentals, although she is by no means a master.

— Lightsaber combat: As mentioned, Qû’jara finds self-realization in combat and views battle as a cornerstone of her identity. All Jedi and Sith in some way mix the Forms to refine their own style, as a master artist holds the brush in a certain fashion to channel their self-expression. Qû’jara's own style is highly centered on tenets from Makashi and Soresu with certain elements of Juyo's aggression.
