Pro Skimboarding Armor

Skimboarding is popular in some professional sporting events many places of the galaxy, notably Skimboard Racing. But while playing one of those the governing body for professional skimboarding mandates that the skimsurfers wear protective gear. These suits aim to maximize their level of protection while playing should an accident arise; as they will often be flying at high speeds on a board at atmospheric altitudes, safety measures are required.

The Light Durasteel plating over a jump or flight suit provides all around protection for their body from dangers the sport might bring. Magnetic Boots allows the wearer a firm and steady grip on their skimboard. These armors will occasionally have jetpacks mounted on them, in order to slow down their falls just in case. Inertial Dampers provides even more protection against falls from.

The armor plating, although it covers most of the body, is light enough that it doesn't impend the user's movement or flexibility and doesn't add on near as much weight as heavy armor normally would. As the armor designed for a sport, it will provide no protection against weapons.

These armors come in stock in many places by a variety of companies, but they are usually able to be customized to a great degree. At a premium price, one could have an entire custom suit made specifically to their specifications. Regardless, the protection is usually the same, although some may decide to strip some or quite a bit of the armor plating away or other features.

LEGALITY

Legal. Protective gear is required when playing professional skimboarding sports.

INTENT

To provide a suit of armor that is most effective for skimboarding - even allowing Force Users to use it's normally incompatible functions as it is Special Armor - for events or other threads that deal with skimboarding, not for pvps, and to be very customizable with appearance, coverage protection .etc

Type and Coverage

Type: Heavy (default)/Special

Coverage: (Coverage regions for Light armor is 1-3 regions, Medium is 4-5, Heavy is 6-7)

  • Head: Light Durasteel Helmet (sometimes with transperisteel visor)
  • Torso: Light Durasteel Chest plate
  • Back: Light Durasteel Back plate.
  • Upper Arms: Light Durasteel Shoulders & Arm Plates (removable)
  • Lower Arms: Light Durasteel Gauntlets (removable)
  • Upper Legs: Light Durasteel Plating (removable)
  • Lower Legs: Light Durasteel Plating (removable)

Functions

Function 1: Mag-Boots (Removable)
  • Magnetic boots contain electromagnets in the soles and allow for enhanced movement on ferrous surfaces in microgravity or steep gradients. This functionality must be turned on or off manually by a button or switch.
Function 2: Inertial Dampeners
  • Intergrated Inertial dampeners help reduce impacts imparted wearers body, situated under the armour panels, they help the absorb the shock of weapon impact through the armour and most other forms of blunt force trauma, for example, a fall or impact that might have fractured bones would only give them intense bruising.
Function 3: Light Jet Pack (Removable)

  • A sports grade jetpack that allows limited flight, primarily used to slow down a person's fall if they fall off at high altitudes. This jet pack's maximum speed is 20 kph and it carries fuel for up to three minutes of continuous flight (flight mode), but can also be fired in short bursts triggered by jumping (jump mode). The wearer can control the system to switch between modes and/or disengage it from their armor via wrist controls. These packs are lighter than the combat-grade ones, not adding as much weight. While the fuel is stable enough not to explode, direct hits from weapons can trigger the system inadvertently, after which it is rendered useless.
