....according to a Yahoo! columnist.

Are you kidding me? This comment sums up how much this writer really knows:

"There is absolutely no element or character in the original trilogy that isn't delineated in stark black and white terms"

Interesting. Han Solo is a smuggling criminal whom acts as a gun for hire. Lando is a degenerate gambler responsible for our hero's capture. Darth frickin Vader- the supposed epitome of evil in the first two films- KILLS the emporer- the real epitome of evil- in the third. Perhaps I am obtuse, but I do not find those terms to be starkly delineated in black and white.

Black and white.... no

Vader starts out black clearly he is evil and does evil things in the first movie. Second movie he is black but you learn his secret. Third movie he goes from black to white because of his love for his son.

Han Solo is at first shades graybut he does have that making for a hero and comes into it for the gir doing the right thing in the end.

Lando is gray but comes around because his friend who he betrayed redeems him enough.

Luke is always looking to do the right thing always wanting to stop the empire and help the rebellion. In the third movie when he confronts vader and the emperor he loses himself for a time but realizes and comes back.

Leia is white never faltering from her goal of ending the empire.

The emperor is also black always evil.

Is there black and white yes but the shades of gray for some characters are what made them interesting. The struggle was what was fun and we always knew that Luke was the hero.

one thing to bare in mind. Yahoo contributor network is a freelance contractor gig that anybody here can get in on and get performance based payouts and they earn something like 4 cents a page view, so most of the things you find are to be taken lightly.

I kinda like this planet. He should get the hell off.

Meh, this planet is just damaged goods at this point. Figure we might as well get to terraforming stuff and make it all Firefly-esque up in here.

And no, no, no, no. No exceptions, the person who wrote that is wrong, plain and simple. And dumb, but that's a given.

True. And in fact, because we look at the page because it's so ridiculous, we end up giving him more money.

Explains why everyone hates the Yahoo sports writer Chris Chase.

I can't wait until Kaeb sees this so we can have a conversation about how Gary Kurtz leaving the series was a tragedy.

He has a few decent points imo, some of the concepts in the prequels couldve been more interesting than what happens in the original trilogy. But too much made the movies fall apart. :P

Having the right elements in a film doesn't mean anything if you can't bring those together. The execution of the prequels was a failure.

It's like Lucas had all the ingredients to make a delicious chicken parmasean. Except he scratched his nads before handling the cheese, he didn't cook the chicken all the way through. And his sauce came from a jar...jar.
