Me, trying out my new plate carrier. Taken about two weeks ago.

FYI, I'm not in the Army. I used to be part of an Airsoft team that modeled itself after the United States Army, which is why I have the ACU uniform.

Now, if I can just finish putting together my Helghan uniform...

What is the vest you're wearing? Did you made it or buy it?

It's a Condor Complete Outer Plate Carrier. I bought it for around $90 USD, including shipping. [It usually runs around $120 USD] It's surprisingly comfortable, but the throat guard can be a pain in the ass if you have to look down to see what's on your vest/at your feet. Luckily it and the groin and shoulder guards are all removable.

Just google the carrier's name, or look up Condor's product line, and you'll find it with no problems. They make 'em in black, ACU pattern, and olive drab, in addition to coyote. Only two sizes, though. M/L and a larger size.

Edit - BTW SIN, I sent you a PM with a thread lock request.

It's a real bulletproof vest?

No, but you can buy the plates needed to upgrade it to a Level IV ballistic vest.
With all the plates, it'd cost around $2,000 - $3,000 USD.

Alternatively, if you want the rigidity [as if it wasn't rigid enough already] you could buy mock plates from an airsoft or military simulation site, and I think the mock plates are pretty cheap. But some guys here just use sheets of ABS plastic and the like. Doesn't simulate the weight very well, though.

That is cool.

I play paintball, and I don't use that type of equipment.

What is Level IV rated to? Gun wise and bullet wise.

You are right. God, first I get "The Hangover" mixed up for "The Knock up" and now this.

My mistake.

I've heard good things about paintball and I'd like to try it someday, but all my equipment is for mil-sim Airsoft. Might have to borrow a marker, vest, and mask off a friend someday and hit up a major paintball event so I can get a feel for it.

Until then, I'll just eagerly anticipate my area's next Zombie Op. There's two coming up. xD

Level IV is rated to protect against repeated hits from full-size rifle rounds including 7.62X51MM NATO rounds, and 7.62X54R Soviet rounds, and high-velocity rounds such as 5.56. It'll stop any of those three rounds dead in their tracks with minimal/zero penetration of the armor plate from 25 yards away.

7.62 NATO = M60, M14, and pretty much every full-size battle rifle and machine gun used by NATO forces.

7.62R = Dragunov Sniper Rifle

You mean Knocked Up?

No, I knew "Knocked Up" was named that. I just forgot what "The Hangover" was called for a moment and immediatly thought it was "The Knock Up".

Gotta love moments of stupidity.

I posted that at like 2 AM.

You eat a huge pizza at 2 AM?
I assure you I was about 3 or 4 hours behind yours. But I have ate frozen Pizza at late hours like that, so does my sisters.
