I got rid of it all now that the challenge I was given has passed. Turns out two months was long enough for me to forget what I looked like under all the hair.

Felt like my chin and jawline disappeared for the first couple minutes or something. I dunno. I just looked profoundly weird(er) to myself (than usual).

I was tempted to post some random photo of me... But then I had a better idea. See, the fact is that my hometown is rather near to a city called Arezzo. And every year, that city hosts an event that is so unique, I figured you guys would be interested in hearing about it from a guy like me, who takes part in it every year.

The event in question is a JOUSTING COMPETITION.

What, you thought I was kidding? Basically, the city is split into four "contrade" (that's the term they use, dunno how to translate that in English): the idea is that, every year, everyone in the city dress up in medieval clothes (of course, each person dresses in the colors of the "contrada" they support, typically the one they live in), and then each "contrada" chooses two representative who will take part in the competition itself. You cannot see it in this picture, but the puppet the guy on the horse is charging at has a target on its shield, similar to those used for darts. The idea is to ram your lance into the target, trying to get as close to the bullseye as possible in order to score as many points as possible: you get double points if you ram so hard that your lance snaps, but if you accidentally lose control of your horse and/or drop your lance, you are disqualified. The "contrada" whose two representatives have the highest combined score is the winner.

Now look at the background of the picture: see the guy in the blue getup, and what appears to be a Batman symbol (it's actually an imperial eagle)? The guy next to him, the one in the green and white getup who is tilting forward in order to see better, would be me! See, the fact is that green is the color of the "contrada" I support, but unlike the guys next to me (who wear solid green) I am not from Arezzo, but rather from the "contado" (which means, from a rural area that, while nominally supporting that "contrada", is outside the city and separated from it), so I have to add the white details to show this fact. In the foreground there is another guy who wears green and white, among the supporters who are native of the city and thus wear solid green.

Of course, the guy on the horse, who wears yellow and blue, is our opponent, and so are the supporters who are rushing on the track behind him, who wear red. The guys in black and crimson in the foreground are the referees.

If you look carefully you can see, in the farthest part of the background, some people in modern clothing. Those are cops: because cops have to wear their uniform when on duty, they are exempt from the rule that wants the entire city dressed in medieval clothes.
