PLOO IV

Descending down through the clouds, M.D. Belc Croncu and his droid crew have to stop on Ploo IV, a planet Blec has never heard about, yet there should be enough civilization on it to make sure that he can restock his food and water supplies, which were shrinking quite fast after a stay on several planets with a full ICU on each of them. Some could be saved, some yet were beyond saving.

One very bone chilling and tragic case was as a child drowned in a small lake, which he could only diagnose with a dead brain. These cases were hard, even for him after being confronted with many cases which he would say are either tragic or just cruel fate.
Nethertheless he needed to focus on the tasks ahead. Several other patients may be counting on him and he wasn't going to allow, that his emotions would cross that urge to save lives...

After passing through the clouds, his eyes glazed upon the beautiful nature of Ploo IV, the sun reflecting on the water surface, the green plants on the marshes finished with some trees and of course. Looking around the area to find a settlement or some sign of civilization... He hoped that "Dopamine" wasn't wrong. "Dopamine are you sure, that here is enough civilization to get us what we need?", he asked the astromech with an raised eyebrow.

Dopamine answered with some beeps, which got translated to him, that his archives mentioned some floating cities with underwater tunneling, yet enough landing opportunities at their cities. Given the urgency of the shortage on supplies, he had to go with it...

After flying long over the landmass, his eye caught interest on a few ships, that seemed to have landed in the middle of a water free field... He couldn't quite say what it was, but the ships were black and orange... Maybe they can help?

On a routine patrol with a task force of Rancor Squadron, Hauron was enjoying the open air of Ploo IV. Even though the marshland was difficult to deal with at first, Rancor Squadron had adapted. Nearby in a major city they had a private starport for maintaining and outfitting their ships.

On this exercise the Mandalorian had come only with his own ship kom'rk class starship and was parked alongside by two others of similar make and model. The ones on either side of Hauron's personal ship were painted in orange and black while the Werda Kom'rk was black and red. A few shuttles had ferried a few members of Ploo II's military.

Rancor Squadron had a deal with the Governornor of the Ploo system and was being compensated well. There were only a dozen Mandalorians present at the moment. Dozens of Glymphids, a few Quermians and a few Fluggrians were getting lessons on warfare from the Mandalorians of Rancor Squadron.

One of the Mandalorians monitoring ship contacts alerted Hauron to its approach. He spotted it well enough in the sky, "I'll do an interception exercise. Aden, Atin, follow me. The rest of you standby. You might learn something" The group leader commanded before his jetpack ignited, sending him rocketing into the sky. The last bit was more for the benefit of those they were training than the rest of Rancor Squadron. There was no time to get the ships up and running in case the approaching individual was a threat.

The jetpacks of the Mandalorian trio would bring them safely on an intercept course alongside the starship's cockpit. Hauron had his ship route a hail through his helmet's comlink so he could speak with the crew. "Greetings, rambler crew. State your name and intent. You are approaching restricted airspace." Despite the pleasantries it was clear they meant business.

While flying to the 2 ships and the few shuttles that landed down there, Blec had a look at his holomap to see what his exact location was, so he could mark this for sometime. Browsing through the map options, he suddenly heard a worried like beep from his astromech Dopamine. Which got translated by the ship system into: "3 Airborne Contacts approaching."

He immediately put the map away and looked back up on what his eyes were catching at that very moment. It was something he only knew from stories and never actually seen in person. It were Mandalorians who approached his ship. Brave warriors, in a very distinctive armor and a very interesting cult... at least that is all what he heard and knew about them.

His face which was smiling of excitement turned into a worried face, as the mandalorians started to position themselves close to the cockpit. As soon as he heard the greetings of one of them and that he is entering restricted airspace, at least one of his 2 hearts dropped into the pants. Nervously he answered:

"My Name is M.D. Blec Croncu, this is a medical facility and my intent is to resupply food and water, otherwise I won't be operational for potential patients... If you could tell me where I could restock my supplies and what direction I have to divert, I will follow suit your instructions. And since you seem to be local, you could maybe tell me where my skill set could be needed, it were several weeks ago when I had my last patient..."

Worried and quite anxious he looked over to the mandalorians awaiting their calls and would comply with the orders from them...

Hauron was glad for the opportunity to test himself and his warriors. The two Mandalorians that joined the Rally Master alongside the starship were some of his oldest friends. In fact they were closer to uncles to Hauron. But they took orders from him as they had his father and kept in formation.

The starship under scrutiny was not hostile in its activity. It was traveling at a moderate speed, its dual quad laser turrets seemed to be unmanned and there were no irregular readings coming from the ship. A moment later and a masculine voice came over the commlink and clearly through the armored Mikkian's helmet. He listened over the rushing wind or the proximity to the flying craft, turning his head to peer into the cockpit and get eyes on the bridge crew. The Solus was glad to see everything seemed to be above board. In fact they were a medical proffe

"Well Doctor, I can direct you towards the planet's spaceport. It's due south of here and a few minutes by starship. But you have my permission to land in the immediate area. We might have patients for you soon enough. Can't promise we have enough in the way of supplies to sell you. We're using what we've got." The local military of the Ploo system had a long ways to go before becoming an elite military unit. But there were significant strides being made. One of his warriors was rumored to be responsible for the redesign of their uniform and standard armor. As the Group Leader flew, he pointed a gauntleted hand towards the bit of marshy land, dry and stable enough for the rambler to set down.

Nodding and agreeing to the idea of landing in the immediate area, he began to descend upon the next free landing opportunity, close to the already landed shuttles... A sigh of relief escaped the mouth of Blec, as he touched the ground safely and glad, that the Mandalorians were quite helpful up till now... Whether or not the supplies from the mandalorians would deem sufficient enough, was not a big issue for him, since the next city was close to his position and a short flight away from here...

Wiping the sweat away from his forehead, he made his way back to the entrance of the ship. "Get the droids ready Dopamine, we may have something to work today. Order them to get the medical equipment ready.", he said while grabbing the doctors cloak, which was hanging over the chair in the office. Dopamine beeped in a confirming tone and the ship translated it into a short: "Yes sir." The droids, started to move, as Dopamine made his way to the charging area and they started to take position in their area of responsibility.

As soon as Blec reached the lobby, he descended the ramp and opened the blast door. "Well at first I thought you would shred me into pieces to be honest.", he would say to the Mandalorians, while going down the ramp. As soon as he reached the ground he says: "My name is M.D. Blec Croncu, nice to meet you all." and reaches his hand out for a handshake...

King Dusty, first of his name and first grade pain in the ass, was actually en route to see the Rancor Squadron in their base, accompanied by two of his Royal Guardsmen, decked out in their new Mandalorian-inspired armor. The purpose of his visit was to discuss building up the combined militaries of Ploo II and Ploo IV into one cohesive unit, especially after the losses both had suffered during Daytonus' successful invasion.

Of course, Rancor Squadron had been responsible for a fair bit of those losses but Dusty wasn't one to hold grudges. After all, in his freelancer days, he'd happily accepted credits from the Jedi, the Sith, the Cartel and anyone else who'd been willing to pay him. He realized decimating your forces was all in the game and, besides, Rancor Squadron's presence had been a helpful one to his reign so far. Not only did they provide a stabilizing force during the rebuild of the military but they had also designed these spanking new uniforms.

As the royal shuttle touched down on their base, Dusty was surprised to see Hauron Solus already engaged in conversation with someone else. True, Dusty hadn't exactly announced his presence but he expected certain preference be given to him, considering his royal status and royal ego.

"Hauron my man, who's the nerd?" Dusty asked in a friendly enough tone.

The trio of airborne Mandalorians escorted the Rambler class freighter to its safe landing space. A few members of Rancor Squadron that had remained on the ground looked towards the ship with curiosity. Hauron waited with his uncles at the bottom of the ship's ramp and few strides clear of it.

+Rambler class, their turrets were unmanned. I wonder what the inside looks like.+ Aden said to Atin while they waited for the doctor to exit his vessel. Their helmets kept their conversation a secret between the three of them. Atin just grunted, more surly than ever but in a relatively good mood all things considered. +Maybe you can ask for a tour+ Hauron pipped in with a joke, his tone betraying a hidden smile, knowing Aden was a Mandalorian that loved to fly and had a passion for ships.

The Mandalorian waited until Blec was at the base of the ramp before he answer him. "Well I'm glad we didn't." His pride as a Solus kept him from admitting it could have been difficult but not impossible. "Rally Master Hauron Solus. I'm the Group Leader of Rancor Squadron. Welcome to Ploo IV, Doctor. Where are you coming from?" His gloved and gauntleted hand off of his weapon and met the hand of Blec. He still wanted to get an understanding of the stranger but quality medical assistance was hard to come by these days.

+Royalty, incoming.+ Aden warned Hauron calmly over the closed helmet channel. The announcement of Dusty's arrival made the Rally Master turn his visor to see the vehicle approach for a landing. Attended by two of his guards in new uniforms, Hauron gave a nod to the monarch. "King Daytonus, this is Blec Croncu M.D.. Doctor this is King Dusty Daytonus of the Ploo System." He introduced the two seeing as he was the one who now knew both of them. Though they were once enemies, the past was behind them and Hauron held no ill will towards the King of the Ploo System. The arrangement between the crown of Ploo and Rancor Squadron helped keep the Mandalorian Road safe and was lucrative for the both of them.

Gladly accepting the handshake and being very friendly Blec smiled to Hauron and said: "Well the last Planet i visited was Ord Mantell, I had a bit of a rush leaving that planet, that's the reason why my supplies got short, because I had to flee from a criminal organisation, which was out to rob some of my medical stuff... And now im here... but if you are interested for my origin, I grew up on Raxus Secundus in the capital Raxulon... but I got tired of that place and wanted to see more of the galaxy... And also because I got tired of the "Money reigns the world"-thing which the hospital got going on and so I decided to help where medical assistance is truly useful... anyways I am glad to finally meet some of you guys... where are you guys coming from?"

Curiously, he awaited the answer, while his royalty, King Daytonus, payed them a visit. He chuckled when he heard the nerd part, since it was kind of true what he said. "Your majesty it is a honor to meet you... I can't say that I have heard a lot about you to be honest. Though a low attention from the galaxy may correlate with peace I have reckoned...", he said and turned to Hauron and also said with nearly teared up eyes: "I personally think, it is absolutely cruel what they did to you and your kind in the past... I am not fully capable to understand what it meant for your people and your kind and I am honestly ashamed to be born into the empire. But let me reassure you, I am here to help people in time of need. My motivation lies within the preservation of life and its quality. I seek to heal and help, not to hurt and destroy."

Sorrow can be seen in M.D. Blec Croncu's eyes while awaiting an answer from Hauron...

"Haven't heard of me? Oh, that's right - you probably recognize me under my old swoop racing name "Dusty Trails." Or maybe just Dusty, the hero of Felcuia?" Dusty answered Blec in stride, not even comprehending that someone could have not heard of. After all, the King Daytonus title was only recently self-appointed. The Glymphid, large ego though he had, was willing to give the galaxy time to get used to it.

"But listen, forget about this sad Mando reminiscing, okay? I've seen ole Hauron and the Rancor Ramblers fight and they don't need your sympathy. You know who does? Me! I still got a lot of good Glymphid soldiers in need of cybernetic replacements and healing who are just languishing in the hospital. And Ploo IV ain't exactly known for its large stable of doctors. You agree to help those guys, I'm more than willing to put you up in a royal suite, free of charge." Dusty offered, not bothering to reveal that the reason all those Glymphid soliders had been injured was his own invasion of Ploo IV that had earned him the title of king.

"Oh and I guess you could heal some Fluggrian grunts too." Dusty conceded. The hated Ploo IV Fluggrians may have fought against his ascension to the throne previously but since they were all supposedly united under one banner, it couldn't hurt to have everyone back up in fighting shape.

Ord Mantell had a reputation for being a foothold of the criminal underworld. It was no surprise that the Doctor was attacked around there but he was glad to hear it could have been worse. The medical professional seemed to not mind living such an adventurous lifestyle. It was also interesting to hear he was an imperial by birth. But Hauron hardly judged him for it. "Mikkia." The rally master replied simply. Aden answered as well enthusiastically. "Krownest...same for Atin." He spoke on the other mandalorian's behalf who only grunted.

Hauron resisted the urge to quirk a smile at witnessing the exchange between Blec and Dusty. The Solus rally master let the King answer the doctor's sympathies. He could see the merit in taking the glymphid monarch's offer. "That sounds like a generous offer , King Datonus. " He gave a nod before looking towards Blec. "Doctor, If you find yourself feeling a sense of wanderlust again you could also tag along with Rancor Squadron. We might need the help on occasion or know some people that could use some medical attention in a pinch." The mercenary company traveled across the galaxy and conducted all sorts of missions. Humanitarian aid seemed like it could be up there in the mandalorian's aspirations. It seemed like a boss move to just give away a large sum of one's own resources.

Blec nodded, as he received the answers of the origins from Hauron and the other mandalorians...

As King Daytonus talked about his titles, he could only shake his head and said: "I have never heard of you, im afraid..."

After listening to Hauron he nodded and said: "Well thank you, that would be great. I mean, I could help you, once im done with the soldiers here... should take me (depending on the patient count) up to 1 week... I'll give you 2 frequencies for the hyperlane-channels, where you can signal me if you want my help... The first one, would be for a normal request, the second one is for urgent request, where you would like to have my help ASAP... I will also give you my ship signal, so you have an easier time to recognize me if I enter your airspace again." He gave the hyperlane-channel-frequencies and the ship signal to Hauron...

After listening to King Daytonus Blec raised an eyebrow, since the great purge of mandalore was one of the most cruel things, Brec heard and from the one or other encounter Blec knew to well, how cruel the empire can get... But since there were people who needed help, he was eager to help. He was excited first about the suite, but rather interesting for him would be, how King Daytonus would like to regulate the payment. Blec would be the last to say no, for the sake of money, but also he wouldn't let an opportunity go to finance his costs... So he asked curiously: "I assume that you will come up for the costs for the treatment, since they are your soldiers or how do you plan to compensate that? How many soldiers and civilians require my services?"

"You need to get out more then! Bunch of stuffy, head-in-the-sands med students..." Dusty grumbled as this upstart doctor claimed, of all things, that he hadn't heard of Dusty yet again.

"Oh, there's at least a hundred. Maybe double that if we're counting less threatening injuries. But yeah, payment's no problem. I'll just take some money from the annual Board of Education budget. Those bastards are always in my ear complaining - it'll serve 'em right! Just bill me your usual rate and my people will send over a check." Dusty said, handwaving the costs of the treatment. As long as the receipts didn't send Ploo II or Ploo IV into a recession, the royal coffers would be more than enough to cover it.

"Tell ya what, you help train up some of my medics and I'll throw in a 2-1B medical droid your way too." Dusty offered, realizing the potential goldmine he was sitting on. After the invasion, his army was in hardly the best of shape. But some healed up troops and some elite-caliber medics, along with those spanking new uniforms Rancor Squadron designed? They were on their way to being a real fighting force.

The Group Leader of Rancor Squadron accepted the communication and contact details from the Doctor. "We'll make use of it. Thanks." His tone confident as he nodded in Blec's direction. Hauron hoped they would not need to use the rapid response method but fully intended to use the regular means of communication. Humanitarian missions and having a connection in the medical industry was always a boon.

Listening to Dusty, Hauron's rolled his eyes so hard they felt like they were going to get stuck in the back of his head for a moment. He could not tell if the Glyphid was joking but it was not his place to tell the King how to rule, not unless he became a king himself at least.

Mandalorians were dangerous in their own right but the thought of a medical mandalorian popped into the mikkian's mind. He followed that line of thinking and found himself nodding as the idea solidified. "I would also like to start training my Lieutenants on first aid. My hope is to have at least one in every four mandalorians able to support the others. Are you comfortable with training others?" They were assuming that the doctor wanted to mentor and teach others how to do his job.

Hearing what King Daytonus had to say about how he would determine the costs for the treatment, Blec started to hesitate about whether it would be a great idea to offer the services to a person with a very low sense of morale. On the other hand, it would be quite a contract to secure, as making a difference in the lives of hundreds of patients, especially those with quality of life issues, could greatly enhance his reputation. Considering this, he simply replied: 'Well, I certainly do not control how you finance these costs, but what I would certainly not appreciate is any backlash from this. I gladly accept the offer at the usual rate and with the 2-1B Medical droid. If you want, we can set up the contract and sign it in my office.'

Listening to Solus, he became quite intrigued by the idea of training Mandalorians in Combat First Aid. It was definitely a task that offered an opportunity to gain additional prestige and respect. Not many non-Mandalorians can proudly say they have trained Mandalorians. Excitement filled his eyes...

He responded to the request, saying: 'Well, I can't grant them a medical doctorate, but I can train them to become reliable medics in 8 weeks of full-time training with a final exam. Then they can receive a diploma qualifying them to practice basic and advanced medical care. Let me know what you think about this idea.'

Blec turned around and ascended the ramp, heading back into the office to set up the contract with King Daytonus

Hauron nodded at hearing Blec's response. "That sounds excellent, Doctor. I'll start asking for volunteers. Thank you." There would eventually be hundreds of applicants but to start would be smaller classes so they could rotate and still maintain operational status.. Hauron himself was hoping to participate and earn the diploma. It was more the practical knowledge that he was after rather than any titles.

With that being said it was clear that King Daytonus and Doctor Croncu M.D. would have their own business to discuss. The Solus Rally Master had his own regime to return to. He would give them both a silent wave and nod of his helmet before turning to his task at hand. His job for the King of the system still needed to be carried out and the planetary defenses were not going to train themselves, not as well as Rancor Squad was anyways.

End thread
