  • - DESCRIPTION -

"Petram Prime? Ain't nothin' there but sand and cheap liquor. Nice and quiet though. Good place for thinkin'."
    -A Dowutin smuggler
Petram Prime, most commonly known as Petram, was a desert planet located in the Petram System, not far from the astronomical object: Balamak, and the Wookiee homeplanet; Kashyyyk. The planet was known for its vast canyons, rocky terrain, lack of natural life, unforgiving weather, space ports, and the very popular beverage named after it. Its major exports consisted of Halite, Cortosis, and Petram Spice, while its major imports consisted of foodstuffs, water, and technology.

The entire planet was arid, sandy, and rocky, with very little fauna or fauna, and almost no sources of natural water. Petram had two native species of fauna, both of which were non-sentient: Drixxens and Theymes. However, Petram held many different immigrated species, most notably: Humans, Sullustans, Rodians, Ithorians, Twi'leks, Bith, and Arconians, with Humans making up most of the planet's population. It also housed one native species of flora: the Karakera palm.

Despite being known mostly for its hot climate and breathtaking views, Petram Prime also hosted some of the most quaint and useful space ports in the galaxy. The lack of inhabitants and government made it easy for ships to come and go as they pleased through its smaller docks without hassle. As such, the planet became a frequent hot spot for smugglers and bounty hunters hoping to pass illicit items or people along discreetly.

Many regarded Petram as a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of planets like Coruscant or Hemelder Aurek. A retreat of sorts.

  • - HISTORY -
Much of Petram Prime's history has been lost through time, very few even knew what species had originally inhabited the planet. The planet was seemingly frozen in time, no before or after, it was always just Petram Prime. There weren't any major battles or historic events ever recorded, and even fewer sources of knowledge on the earlier days of the planet. Even the planet's well of knowledge: the Indrelix Library, did not have more than a few pages of writing to date how long the planet had been colonized. However, it was widely believed that the planet had seen two different colonizers: an initial species that constructed a few monuments before dying off or leaving and a second species that came after, many believe they were responsible for the construction of the cities and space ports scattered throughout Petram Prime.

Thus, there was a large degree of mystery to the planet, which attracted many different explorers from every corner of the galaxy.

  • - GOVERNMENT -
Petram Prime was not host to any governing bodies and was seemingly lawless. The planet never aligned itself with any known faction or coalition and never had any form of authority or law. It seemed that the entire planet worked on a type of honor's system, a system that shockingly seemed to work, given that the planet never fell into chaos or discord. If one kept to themselves, they were likely not to be bothered. This is what led to the many shady dealings done at Gartek Spaceport, which became a center of illicit importing and exporting of goods.

  • - CULTURE -
Petram never housed one particular culture, due to the variety of species that lived on the planet and the lack of government to establish any one religion as the planet's official faith. Therefore, the desert planet did not have a specific culture or set of beliefs. Though the inhabitants of Petram seemed to be more laid back and well-adjusted then the inhabitants of most other planets at the time.

  • - LOCATIONS -
Petram housed a variety of space ports, trade stations, and cities, all of which can be found here:

Gartek Spaceport - The largest spaceport on the planet, Gartek was the busiest and second-largest city on Petram Prime. It was a hub for illegal activities, transporting and importing goods, and drinking, as it hosted five different cantinas. Gartek was also considered the most dangerous spot on the planet, due to the amount of shady creatures that passed through its streets daily.

Areeba - The capital city of Petram Prime, as well as its largest, Areeba was known for it's massive water station, which housed about 80% of the planet's water. Unlike Gartek, Areeba was considered the safest place on the planet, due to the laid back nature of the city and its citizens. This was where most of Petram's inhabitants lived.

Downunder Town - Resting at the bottom of a canyon, Downunder Town was a quaint farming colony where most of Petram's native flora species: the Karakera palm, grew. This was due to the plant's strange ability to grow in the dark and the natural shading that came from the canyon in which Downunder Town resided. This was also where most of the Twi'leks and Ithorians that resided on the planet could be found, though the village did also have its fair share of Humans and Arconians as well.

Sector 9 - Sector 9 was the most inhospitable place on Petram Prime, this was mostly due to the terrifying combo of the fierce sandstorms that made it nearly impossible to see and the large rock structures stretching endlessly into the air that threatened to down any ship flying through this terrifying zone. This large stretch of land had many a ghost story about brave pilots who ignorantly flew into its unforgiving conditions, never to be seen again. The zone was also known for its severe lack of any animals, plants, or water.

Indrelix Library - Located just South of Gartek Spaceport, at the mouth of Indrelix Mountain, this mysterious well of knowledge was one of Petram's biggest mysteries. Not a single soul knows who or what built the Indrelix Library, or, for that matter, why. This source of mystery is what brought many different explorers to uncover just why the library was built and by whom.

  • - MOONS -
Petram Prime hosted six different moons, all of which were just as hot and sandy as the planet they revolved around, but not nearly as rocky as Petram. Several of these moons were inhabited by many different immigrated species, much like Petram, these were: Jomave, Biman, Raahas, and Gibo. The other two moons remained uninhabited due to their violent sandstorms, these were: Rath and Veegn. All were just as ungoverned as Petram as well.

- INTENT -
It will serve as both a fun, homey corner of the galaxy and as a great place for shootouts/ duels due to its slummy nature and rocky terrain. Those who find themselves on Petram Prime will enjoy the wide variety of situations available to them. The planet's quiet nature might allow for some form of character growth. Overall a great place for RPing and character development, It will also serve as a homeplanet for Kieran Shaw (my first real character on this site).
