DESCRIPTION
A staple of Merr-Sonn Munition's line of targeting rifles, the DGV-1 is popular for it's versatility as a broadly well-rounded long range weapon. This variant has been carefully modified with a collapsible stock and barrel. While adjustable stocks are a common feature adapted widely by the underground blaster modding community, designing the barrel was as imaginative as it was a skillful effort. Using hadrium, the barrel was completely refitted with a thinner cylinder to allow it to slide back into the weapon's frame, encasing it's inductor coil. Independent from the weapon's technological functions, both stock and barrel must be collapsed and extended manually by hand, locking into both states with clamping switches attached to each weapon part, a careful process that takes some seconds. While more mobile when the barrel is reduced, this blaster becomes completely ineffective.

LEGALITY
Intermittently illegal property. Wholly disallowed by most civilized areas within the core worlds.

INTENT
I'm a big fan of the sniper archetype of character, and think it's an interesting angle in combat. This is dually so that in non-combat threads the weapon is more casual when carried on-back, and to reduce strain in mobility otherwise (when collapsed.)

ADVANCED TECH
NO.

I would say that sniper weapon, especially collapsible ones, would likely not be legal in many places, especially on more uppity planets in the core. Also, I would eliminate the optimum and drop-off ranges from that stats, and maybe work them into the description so that there is no confusion. Range is range- there is no variation within that for blasters, as far as the rules are concerned.

Heard. Changes made to legality and dropoff / optimal range stats have been dropped for less confusion.

I almost missed this. I would prefer this be made a generally available version of the rifle, so that we have a baseline sniper that is not a one-off.

To that end -- acceptable that I change distribution to my upcoming Hutt Cartel character's weapons modification gig instead of Merr-Sonn? I'm working with the story that he modified it himself. Would pretty much only serve roleplay purpose for my character.

It would be better for this submission to be a base model, and then the unique tech be a generitech reskin. However you want to make that work is your call.

I would need a much, much more convincing intent to go through the trouble of approving this just for one character. That's not the intent of the tech boards, except in special circumstances.

@Loco edited as a baseline model. The collapsible will be reposted as generitech by request.

The collapsibility was the only feature keeping this from being gen tech. Is that the intent now?

@Loco

I think my earlier question was confused, lemme restate. I'm totally down for posting the collapsible as free market, but my intent was to have it be distributed by my character specifically, and not Merr-Sonn. Whether one wants to go to my character for RP to get one or to just start their story having already done so is less important -- but more important is that my character is the one who made the rifle -- for RP purposes.

I have it in his backstory that he made it, and I'm loooow key too lazy to edit his profile template in photoshop lol. Shall I flip this? Post the non-collapsible in generitech and keep this one here?

Yeah, you'll have to do something like that. I'm not going to approve something that people have to go to a specific character to obtain, and if your character wants to invent something like that he's going to have to do a plot(s) for it anyway.

@Loco Figured that might be the case. I'll put a pin in this then and revisit it after I've done the appropriate plots.
