DESCRIPTION
Although Rendili StarDrive was originally a major capital warship manufacturer for the Republic, the Sith have placed heavy restrictions on the construction of such vessels for independent sale; thus, over the last 500 years, Rendili has been forced to diversify into non-military markets. The Overhead-class light freighter is one of the company's more successful offerings to the civilian cargo transport market, being an almost ubiquitous sight in starports the Galaxy over.

36 meters in length, flown by a crew of 2 - although 1 will do in a pinch - and able to carry 6 passengers in addition to up to 60 standard tons of cargo, the Overhead has become what many consider to be the "universal" light freighter, incorporating all the features most operators could want and seen just about everywhere there is space traffic. They are flown by large corporate fleets and independent captains alike, and are used for everything from hauling bulk industrial products to smuggling spice.

The type is renowned for its reliability, simplicity and versatility, not to mention its ease of maintenance and modification, which makes it especially popular within starship "tuner" culture. A popular urban legend states that a heavily augmented Overhead dubbed the Decade Shrike once managed to make the Kessel Run in just just over 24 parsecs, an impressive feat for any vessel.

LEGALITY
Legal. Overhead-class freighters are a common sight across the Galaxy, and they are considered innocuous enough in most systems.

INTENT
To create a standard type of light freighter one might encounter on the starlanes.

ADVANCED TECH
No. Overhead-class freighters are quite common, and would be simple to buy, steal or otherwise acquire.
