Jon's team took cover as droids approached them from all angles. They fired the blasters with practiced precision, cutting down the attacking forces. Still, if the other team didn't hurry, it was only a matter of time before they were taken out one by one.

As the thought crossed his mind, one of the soldiers took a shot to the arm, swearing as he was dragged back further into cover. That's when the Agent reported in. They had taken the comm's room but still needed to hack the base's systems.

Jon radioed back, his voice difficult to hear over the sounds of blaster fire. "Oh, Take your time Agent! We are just getting to know the neighbors!" he said sarcastically as he returned to his defensive firing.

The agent was delving heavily into her work and thus did not entirely catch the commander's reply. The Sergeant was not so preoccupied, shouting commands to the squad providing her protection and neither was he shy about it. "Get a move on agent, rest of the squad secures the entrance, and dig in the best you can. Once she's done we're bailing."

There was nothing like a little bit of pressure applied at the end of a blaster barrel to get the adrenaline pumping. Guin frantically rubbed her hands together to warm up her fingers before jumping back into it. Had this been a real situation with proper military-grade encryption, it would likely have taken twice as long with the gear she had but due to being a training exercise, this wouldn't be the case.

One by one, droids continued their counter-attack against the communications building before slowly dripping away into the fray of noises around them. The Sergeant turned to his men with gritted teeth. "They're re-grouping for a real attack. Agent, you got a minute and then I'm busting your ass outa here whether you're done or not." How exactly that would go down, she hadn't a clue.

Breaking through the half-strength encryption finally gave her access to the sections of the base they needed. With lightning speed, she flicked through the directories and got to work locating the 'switch' that would drop the security long enough for the commander's team to complete their task. Droids were unbelievably quick to react though, and once they realized what she had done, it was possible that they would disrupt or lock her out which was simply something they couldn't afford.

Therefore the agent had to jam their access by resetting the droid nodes that they'd connect to the network with before finally setting into motion the patch to bypass security. "Tell the commander it's done." She quickly yelled as an explosion took hold near the door, signaling the attack had started. Transmitting that very thing, the sergeant followed up by grabbing Guin and pulling her towards the window. "You won't like this but hold on."

Unbeknownst to her, their route out was out the window and down...rather quickly.

Jon dragged another soldier back behind cover as he was dropped by blaster fire. The bolts wouldn't kill, but they knocked a person unconscious.

The droid attack escalated as they started to organize; they were losing their advantage. With each passing minute their position became weaker and weaker. They would have a couple of minutes before they were completely overrun.

As the fight grew to its most desperate, the doors behind them slid open, and the Commander let out a breath. "Get in there and plant the charges," he said, standing up and firing, dropping two more droids.

A long moment later, the two engineers came out. "Its done." one of them said.

"Alright, start the timer," he said to one of the engineers. He then turned to another soldier "Call in our extraction athe designated site." he said. "Let's go."

They pushed out, fighting as they retreated. The timer was short; a moment later, a fireball would explode in the air, bits of metal falling to the ground. Getting out was a good bit easier than getting in.

They finally met up with the other squadron on their way to the LZ. "Perfect timing," Jon spoke as the dropship came into view. His soldiers fanned out, firing at any droids they saw, but the attack had left them disoriented.

"So what did you think, Agent," he said as they stepped on the drop ship.

The fantastical escape out the window was comically fast and she could barely hold a hand against her mouth as she began to scream the way down. Fortunately, the landing was rather planned leaving her with only minor scrapes and bruises rather than a two-dimensional figure. With just a few expensive seconds to check themselves over, the squad promptly raced back into action moving together toward the rendezvous point to meet up with the commander again.

Finally spotting him, Guin held back the temptation to wave considering they were still technically on a mission. Their numbers were somewhat diminished and had this not been a training exercise, they would represent real casualties and real losses they sustained in the progress of completing the objective. Such decisions were far above her paygrade but she suspected even those above would feel the sting regardless.

"Uh, I think we did about as well as could be expected, Sir." Guin stood before him in the transport adjusting the buttons on her coat nervously. "You have the respect of the troops, but without a remote way of accessing the terminal, we were forced into a brute entry of the facility."

She felt a little responsible for that, although the tech itself was partly to blame. Without proximity, it was dastardly difficult to penetrate networks and do the kind of work that they wanted of her. Without something more advanced or technical, it was the best they could manage.

With a little ambiguity hiding behind her words, she asked quietly. "Did I pass the test?" She hoped that she had and in doing so gained some level of respect and trust from both the commander and his troops. For Guin, being a simple field agent was not enough, she had to thrive and excel in all areas, especially the ones she felt most uncomfortable. But for Guin, as long as he and their mutual friend were close, he would also be someone close to her.

The transport lifted off, kicking up dirt around them. Jon surveyed the ground below as they moved back to HQ. There was still fighting all over through this part of it was done, a small victory in what he hoped would be their overall victory.

"You adapted and worked with what you had. That's all anyone could ask of you. You got the job done." he said, several nods coming from the surrounding soldiers. Bombers shot passed with the fighter escorts; they were already setting about the work of bombing the droid's main position, something that was only possible now that they had disabled to shields.

He let out a chuckle as she asked if she passed, clapping her on the back. "You did great, Guin! Quit fretting," he said with a smile, having noticed her nervous fidgeting.

There was still work to do on this training mission, but their task here was done.
