The Desert Winds

With tensions once again on the rise along the borders of Hutt Space, a group of enterprising Cartel Prospects, under the supervision of the Hutts from the Vesajilic Family, have set about training themselves up in combat so as to be ready for whatever awaits them…

Location: Jiguuna – Vesajilic Compound

They had to be ready.

They needed to be prepared for whatever happened.

It was this that the Vesajilics knew, it was for this reason the Desajilic Kajadii, Gaja, had sent them here today, to make sure the new blood in the Cartel was ready for the potential storm that was coming. Sure, there was no doubt any of them would be good in a brawl, but, could they fight as one?

The sun glared down onto the training area, which was ideal for the day of training, as an additional strain for them to bear during the session. Today the prospects would face one another, to start out, before moving on to face units of elite mercinaries that the Hutts had arranged for them, in an effort to teach unit co-operation and cohesion.

It was this they sought to train up today, as the Hutt Nor’baal the Younger moved out onto the field to address and brief the prospects present.

ValektanXannoh knew that most prospects hoped to gain some notice by entering one of the arenas the Cartels ran. It wasn't the most original plan, but it was one to start with. As Valek had agreed to train at the area, he knew that it was to prepare the prospects for their various assignments. What, specifically, they would be doing was unknown to him. As he walked out onto the sand, he adjusted his mask slightly, noting the glaring sun, beating down on them. Most people would be uncomfortable in such heat.

Valek observed as the Hutt Nor'baal made his way onto the sand, most likely to address the various Prospects that had showed up. Valek glanced over his rifle again, looking over the make and model. It wasn't his normal rifle, instead, it was a training rifle that had been given to him as he arrived. Obviously, this meant that they wanted to prevent, or at least just minimize injuries between the Prospects.

Valek still carried his bone knife, but he knew that he could not use it as this time. Even if he did use it, it would be controlled, preventing it from cutting or injuring whoever he used it on. Valek turned, looking to the other Prospects, his glassy eyes observing what species they were, what they carried, and what their body language implied. He could assume they were there for similar reasons, either for recognition, or just for training. Valek concluded that it would be a very interesting day.

Seffy apprehensively stepped into the arena, her Corellian banshee bird, Runner, perched on her shoulder. Squinting in the intense sunlight, she pensively scanned the field, analyzing her opponents. While some seemed easy enough targets to put down, others exuded a hardy confidence that intimidated her. This would be her first real battle with anyone, and although she was used to the occasional bar fight back on Nar Shaddaa, this was going to be another world entirely.

"Keep your eyes peeled, buddy," she whispered to the bird, who quietly squawked in reply. "There's gonna be some tough competition out here today. Just try to stay safe."

She felt the cool metal grip of the training rifle she had been given in place of her more comfortable blaster pistol. It was heavy and cumbersome compared to the lighter, more maneuverable form-factor of the handheld weapons she was more familiar with. The odds, she realized, were already stacked against her. Seffy had spent a good chunk of her remaining funds on a transport ticket from Nar Shaddaa out to Nal Hutta, and she sorely hoped this foray would be worth it.
