Ambient noise [link]

The snow reached Kherkoth to his shins.
Wading through it, he could hear cracks from his steely limbs contracting in the cold. In his hand he held a white shining Holocron shaped as a small stellated dodecahedron. Once it had belonged to his master Do Qundac, easily told by the family emblem engraved on it. The Qundac's had alwas been a proud family, and now he possessed their heir and pride in his own hands. A last gift.

A cruiser gently flew over him and landed on a platform over head. Out of it stepped a young cowayan, clearly shivering in the intolerable cold.
Kherkoth didn't have this problem. Though he knew perfectly well that his bionics could not withstand such cold in longer periods of time. He moved his hand down to the hilt of his cane and lifted it out in the snow, slowly jogging to the entrance of the temple. The inside was almost as cold as the dread outside. Clacking his heels together getting rid of snow and ice gathered on his feet he placed his cane back on the floor and looked into the dark hallway. A droid approached him.
"I am pleased to see you here again at last baron Sherekh" Khekoth nodded and walked across the hallway with the droid buzzing after him. "May I be of any service? just to be clear, the archives are up a floor, if you had forgotten." Kherkoth raised his hand as a gesture of silence to the droid "I know perfectly well. Leave me." he said as a door opened itself and he entered the staircase on the flip side.
He turned and looked at the droid in the end of the staircase. "bring a cup of cha to the Qundac's hall."

stepping over the thresh hold of the Qundac's hall was like encroaching on his own past. It reminded him of his years here on Ziost, as if the bitter cold wasn't enough.
The room was lit by the turquoise flames as it always was. The large crystalline pillars that decorated the walls, and the statue of Bodau Qundac in the end all shone with the same turquoise light. Sitting down in the middle of the hall and placed the holocron on the marble floor in front of him, he sighed. The sound of the blast door opening and shutting, and the buzz of the droid approached. A cup was placed next to him with steaming tea. "You are dismissed, SE4."

A low humming noise emitted from the holocron. The light within flickered.
Kherkoth reached out and tapped it lightly, as he had seen his former master had done so many times before. It projected itself.
"good eve', Kherkoth."
The figure off Do Qundac was materializing itself in his mind.
"Good evening, master."
Kherkoth bowed his head.
"This holocron is the last heirloom of our family, handle it with care.
I would not give it to my grandson, as I have little faith in him. You will need the Qundac's legacy more than he will, I am sure of it."

The projection of Do Qundac vanished as the holocron started to hover over the floor, slowly rotating clockwise.
"Show me your ways of the art of Psychometry"

The holocron stopped spinning in mid air "The practice of psychometry also known as postcognition, is the ability to touch an object or a deceased to see into its quote-unquote memory, and learn its past by use of the force. 1/10 of the kiffar race has this ability from birth, and it is a most valuable perk to have." the holocron continued "In order for a force user to learn such an ability. The practitioner requires a period of meditation and preparation of the body to understand the basics and to be able to utilize for first practise." Kherkoth shifted in his position taking a sip of the tea presented to him earlier, making sure not to drench his tendrils in the tea. "Bring an object of personal value and lay it within your palms. Then close your eyes and proceed to center your force."
Kherkoth grabbed his cane, carefully unscrewing the shaft from the lightsaber, laying it his his palms, on his lap. Dust slowly started to lift off the floor as he closed his eyes. As Kherkoth slowly centered his force, the dust began swirling in a slow motion around him.

The force laid over him like a carpet, heavy on his shoulders. pulsing in sync with his breath.
"Now focus on creating a bond between you, the force and the item in your hand. This is done by connecting the force with your memories. Examples include: Where you acquired it, where it was made, when you used it for the first time and so on."
Kherkoth could see the memories on slideshow in his mind. The Kinrath egg with the red crystal inside, the night he constructed it with the help of his master.
He could remember the day he dueled his youth-hood rival. He could remember the rival's wide grin, 'Borgigo' was his name. His flaring lightsaber lighted up his face in the dark corridor. Kherkoth had encountered him while wandering the halls during the night. Borgigo had noticed this habit and tried to challenge him for a stand off in the lower levels. When Kherkoth refused, he had pulled his blade igniting it trying to intimidate. But Kherkoth only turned around and walked the other way. Borgigo then came running after him with blade razed. Kherkoth wasn't fast enough and it ended up in Borgigo managing to cut Kherkoth's lightsaber in half, then running off into the darkness. The masters were furious on Kherkoth for breaking his lightsaber and was refused any right to make a new blade, until he came of age.
So, When he turned Eighteen he acquired a new hilt, and constructed his current blade.

Then another memory.

Do Qundac was kneeling next to three dark grey eggs, bound by flesh like strings of white mass, as if it was a cradle. "Disgusting creatures. They really are."Master Do Qundac looked at kherkoth with a frown, cleaning some of the white mass off his face with the robe arm. He turned around again, digging his fingers into a crack in one of the eggs and pulled. A loud wet ripping sound followed, and more white mass spurted out from the now large hole in the egg. Master Do cursed beneath his breath.
"Ah! here we are." He pulled out a red, somewhat misshaped crystal out of the egg. It reflected in the lamp light and cast a red see-through shadow on the the rocks. "Here's for the hassle" he tossed the crystal down the hill of Kinrath cadavers and into the hands of Kherkoth at the bottom.

"Good. Now that you have a simple connection, you'll need to strengthen it for further practise."

Kerkoth leaned over and took a sip of his tea once again, taking care not to break his concentration, keeping his eyes closed.
The air around him was static now. If he had any hairs on his body they would be standing upright.
"your concentration is breaking, Kherkoth. Do not strain it." the holocron said. It pulsed with a dim red light in the center each time it uttered a sound.
Kherkoth shuffled back into his previous position and opened the connection once again.
"Good. Now you will need to strengthen the connection." there was a pause. "Examples include: remembering each time you used the object or each time you have lost your object, if ever." Kherkoth nodded. He could remember the look on the quarren's face in his last seconds, as Kherkoth pulled his blade across the man's stomach, disemboweling him. He could remember every time he had faced Do Qundac in combat. And he could remeber when he was once taken captive by a syndicate.

Brytir, the quarren fumbled on the ground after his glasses. Kherkoth stood over him as a looming shadow. He knew that Brytir could have saved his family just as anyone else in the village. Weak beings Kherkoth thought as he grabbed Brytir by the ankle and jolted, flipping the quarren onto his back. Sneering he pushed the blade slowly into his abdomen. Brytir shreiked. Slowly he pulled the blade across it, seeing life escape from his eyes, Kherkoth felt relief.

Another memory
Do Qundac's stance was flawless and strict. Kherkoth's was unpolished and vague. He took a few steps to his left, keeping his guard open. Qundac striked at him, the clashing of the blades was loud in the halls. They echoed. "Keep your guard up Kherkoth." Qundac said as he hammered onto Kherkoth's blade. He spun himself and sent an elbow into kherkoth's side forcing him to let go of his blade. And soon Kherkoth found his masters blade only inches from his neck. "you're letting your thoughts slip." Qundac handed the acolyte his blade. "Again."

"You are focusing too much on your memories. Not the connection, Kherkoth the holocron said. "Pay attention to things of little importance in the memories, like the environment or conversations you did not listen to during the time."
"So you say I have to change my perspective?" Kherkoth replied. "In a way."

Another memory occurred.
bound by feet and arms. He kneeled in the center of what was previously used as a cargo container on the freighter.
A man sat on a chair in the corner of the room examining Kherkoth's lightsaber. "What a score, eh?" He said and smirked at Kherkoth. "You aren't much without it are you?" He chuckled and stood up from the chair, still with his gaze fixed on the lightsaber in his hands. He opened the door behind him and disappeared out of sight. Kherkoth was furious. Every muscle in his body wanted to contribute to crush each and everyone on the ship. Though his hands were tied. The room was dark, and the air was humid. He could hear the sounds of people chattering on the other side of the thin steel walls. The vibration of their voices carried through the material. He could see something else. Focusing on everything around him, the memory flickered and he felt as if his presence covered everything from what he could hear and perceive. The man previously seated on the chair stood facing a muscular human with the lightsaber presented to him. The human examined the lightsaber in his hands aswell. Exchanging looks between the man that had given it to him and the saber.

The memory ended.

"Splendid, Kherkoth. You are doing well. I can feel that your connection with the object has peaked. We will now need to practice this type of connection so that you can be able to utilize this connection with anything, including things that does not have a sentimental value to you." the holocron said. Kherkoth nodded.
