In orbit above the system of Vandyne, an Old Empire spacestation has gone dark. There were no distress signals, so it has likely lost power. This station could prove useful in gathering data for the Mandalorian faction against the Sith forces. Members of Death Watch, under the assisted command of Corrine Solus, are on their way to investigate the downed station and secure it for the glory of Mandalore.
Corrine was bubbling with excitement. She didn't know how their commander -Dax- had found out about this station as quick as he did. She figured he must have some secrets buried in his little closet of his. But whatever the reason, Dax was personally allowing Corrine to take charge of this endeavor. Perhaps he was seeing if she were up to the task. Of course, he was right there alongside her to make sure that she didn't screw anything up. She didn't mind. Corrine new that she could succeed in any circumstance.
It was just the three of them on this mission. They were the Alpha team. It was their job to sneak aboard the space station's lower dock and investigate why it had been shut down. Best guess: they'd simply lost power. The place would be deserted and the spoils theirs to take. But things never worked out that perfectly. It was much more likely the orbiting spire had become under attack. There hadn't been any distress signals, so it might have been an inside job. Even in the best of circumstances if the hosts on board knew something was going wrong they would have radio'd for help.
This is why they were going in weapons hot. Like all Mandalorians, Corrine Solus was wearing a thick iron skin known as Beskar'gam. The woman had two sets to call her own, but had recently put away her father's gear for her new set: that of the Death Watch squad. As such, she'd taken several pieces of her advanced tech and placed them on their armor. Her left wrist was equipped with a flamethrower; her right wrist a missile launcher. Both had limited uses, but she was itching to use them in a fight. Her boots were also upgraded to allow a jump feature which helped with aerial maneuvers.
As far as weapons went, Corrine's choices were pretty basic. She loved her two "strill" blaster pistols the most and would likely never trade them in. On her back she carried a Westar C-1 blaster carbine and was likely the best sniper Death Watch had to offer. That was of course, her opinion and not at all ever based on actual proof. While she never took to fighting with hand to hand combat, she'd recently started carrying a vibroblade dagger just in case someone got past her guns. Not likely. And even if they got past her Westar, that's why she also brought along a new addition of a SGB-1 scatter blaster that was sure to shred anyone who got close.
The three of them were currently getting armed and checking their weapons aboard The Red Blade, Corrine's Kal-class fighter transport. It was her pride and joy and she treated it like it was her own child. Though a MIA-01 droid was currently looking after the controls, Corrine preferred to do most of the flying. A fact that scared her husband to death. Corrine was a reckless flyer and took a lot of risks for the thrill and adrenaline rush. As no one in Death Watch had yet to see her fly...they were unaware of this. Luckily for them, this mission required a certain amount of stealth which meant she couldn't do anything showoff-ish.
"How are we looking, Missy?" Corrine asked as she made her way into the cabin and sat at the pilot's seat.
The droid would turn its head to her and speak in Basic. It was rough and slow dialogue, as a vocal processor had been salvaged and placed into the droid by a Twi'lek friend of hers. "We. Are. Exiting. Speed. Shortly."
The reason for such a digital hack was because Corrine never bothered to learn Binary and thus hated the fact her little astromech couldn't speak with her. And while she was flying in combat, she didn't have time to read the prompts that the ship's dash translated for her. So she'd asked her slicer friend to see what she could do. This was the best result.
"I'm taking us out of Light Speed then. Hand the controls over to me."
With that, the ship gently lurched backwards as it slowed down and the blue tunnel of light outside the window was replaced with the approaching space station. Corrine always loved how things zoomed right up to them and then stopped suddenly. It made her heart jump every time because she never knew how close they would actually come out of the jump. She loved the rush. Biting her lip she began to steer them toward the lower half of the spire while shutting off any non-essential systems within the ship. That meant the lights. Hopefully by now the two in the back had found their helmets else they'd be hard pressed to navigate in the dark.
