Into The Great Unknown

Lucian was not opposed to flying things other than his fighter but he wished he could have taken something more exciting to fly than his current ship. He wasn't supposed to be making this trip of his own enjoyment, he knew, but it was still dreadfully boring to be flying something like this. Hells, the astromech droid plugged into the navicomputer would have more fun with this than he would.

The little guy had made some strange noises when they had started the jump to hyperspace and one thing he would admit was that this route was slightly... longer than he remembered?

Didn't really matter too much he supposed - they were due to be coming out of hyperspace any minute now, hence why he was waiting in the pilot's seat with a cup of caff in hand. He sighed a little bit as he called out to his fellow Jedi,

"We're going to be coming out of hyperspace soon Albert." he set his caff down and took hold of the controls, "I always find it soothing to come back to real space."

And, naturally, the Galaxy decided that he needed to be proven wrong.

They appeared in real space at the edge of a small asteroid field, causing Lucian's eyes to widen for a second before he instinctively reacted, twirling the ship off to port to avoid slamming into an asteroid, instead sliding between two moving asteroids, one of them scraping along the top of the ship.

He saw a red light go dead.

"Blast... that was our coms." he reported to Albert as he continued to defy death in the asteroid field, "Take the gun controls please Albert... I'm going to try and get us out of here but I would appreciate it if some of these asteroids were no longer present while I do so!"

Albert's monocle flashed as he heard the request, knowing that navigation in an unknown place would always be easier without threat of being dashed to pieces. "I'll buy you as much time as I can." Albert spoke as he slipped into the gunner's seat, the targeting array lighting up even as he called upon the Force to aid him. His lessons with Master Wyck during the Tests of Skill came back to him, making him remember of when he tapped into the Force in a way he had never done before. He put his mind back into that place, feeling the Force extend his vision into Double Vision. He was getting better at this, though still wasn't nearly at Master Wyck's level. He would fire on the targets the Force told him to focus on, hopefully giving Lucian enough time to get to safety. He'd keep this up until he either succeeded or passed out from the exertion.

Lucian nodded to Albert in gratitude even though he didn't say anything right now - his concentration was on flying them through the asteroids safely and that meant that he was using every scrap of his will to make sure that they weren't suddenly dashed against the glorified space debris.

He refused to become one with the Force here today.

There was far too much that he still wanted to do, far too much for the Order to accomplish with his assistance. He wasn't ready to go out into the stars and never return...!

So he refused.

"I am a leaf on the wind..."

With a combination of his piloting skills and Albert's shooting, they danced through the asteroids. He made movements that should, by all rights, have been hits but instead were such near misses that you could have reached out and touched the asteroid's surface through a window. But it was all just... it all seemed so simple for the two of them.

Lucian danced their cumbersome craft as though he was dancing a waltz with a delicate partner and Albert blasted away any interruptions until they were out; free of the asteroid field.

"Albert - I'm setting us down on the closest planet." he reported to his ally with a small breath of relief, "You were superb."

Albert's control over the Force lessened slightly, though he still kept his connection in case it were needed. He gave his fellow long-haired companion a small smile before starting to scan and plot a course to safety. "We are not safe yet, but I shall do everything I can to get us there. With your flying, I'm certain that...Wait a moment, we might have what we need." Fingers flying over the navicomputer, Albert was able to find a safe course through the debris surrounding the planet they had found and even managed to find a route through the storms on said planet as well. It looked like there was some viable landing fields on the ground, next to something that seemed like it was a man-made construction. He was too far away and the scan was too quick to get many details, though. The one thing he knew, though, was that it was safe. He plotted the course, knowing the time for their window of opportunity was fading. "It seems the Force is with us this day. Here is the course, if we can get there we can find safety, perhaps even some shelter. I leave it in your hands, Lucian."

The debris was an irritating obstacle to be sure.

It was something that pilots dreaded no matter their level of skill - somethings were to be endured and nothing else. But he was blessed not only was a decent enough ship, the force and some good piloting skills... it seemed that he was aided by an incredibly good navigator as well.

This Knight Penumbris wore many cloaks it would seem!

Following the path laid by the navicomputer, Lucian was able to make it through the debris fairly easily. Breathing a sigh of relief, he chuckled a little bit as he guided the ship through.

"Can I keep you?" he joked lightly, "As my co-pilot? I do believe you are Force-sent!"

But as they approached the planet, Lucian frowned a little bit,

"These formations... Albert these were made with intent." he reasoned as they broke through the clouds and were able to better see the ruins spread out below them, "By the Force..."

Bringing the ship down slowly, Lucian did so atop what was clearly, at some point, a landing pad. Thankfully it was ground based so it didn't crumble away under the weight of the freighter. Lucian began to fiddle with the instruments on the dash before turning back to Albert with a frown,

"Atmosphere... breathable by humans. Human standard in fact." he shared a look with the senior Knight, "What's the protocol for this, Albert?"
