1) Have the ranks for each faction been officially decided upon?
2) What are the guidelines/requirements for Independent factions?

2a) If I am running/leading an "Indie faction" for other people, like a main organizer/DM, do I need to have a character in the faction?
2b) Will Indie factions that are well established (not necessarily by size, but by longevity and impact) be given their own subforums on a case-by-case basis?​

3) Do we know anything about the new tech writeup format/requirements?
4) Will the factions already have determined tech for us to gauge our own against?
5) Force powers: "If I can dream it I can do it," within reason? So, will this be the basis for Sith magic? What's the staff's stance on Sith magic and alchemy going into this timeline?

Maybe this goes without saying...For those of us who want to develop characters from the ground up can we join factions as we do character development? My character is literally two years fresh from Slave Camp 101 when the new timeline starts. I don't want to pigeonhole him into a faction without developing an IC reason for it.

This isn't an official response, but you can definitely do that. It'll make finding RP a bit trickier than if you were in a faction from the start, but it is definitely something that can be done, and I imagine it would be quite fun. Be aware, though, that it does take more effort on your part to find RP, which is made a lot easier by being in a faction.

I truly do hope that goes away as much as possible.

Yes, I know Dooku and Palpatine did that one spell on Moraband to try and bugger up Yoda, but other than that, Sith Magic hasn't been shown at all in any Canon source, and Alchemy itself has never been shown (in Canon). That and both branches were LUDICROUSLY overpowered and horribly undefined.

But then, I've been a very vocal adversary of Sith Magic and Sith Alchemy since day one, so I might be a bit biased.

Thats how I plan to do my character. See where my writing takes me. Has been fine in the past just a bit longer to find your way into faction ranks as you need to find a faction character to recruit you.
