Deeno Jakkan

RtMFQvY.jpg

Near Yolahn Square, Iziz, Onderon, Japrael System, Japrael Sector, Inner Rim
Some time in the early evening

"Well, there are worse places to be."

The Hunter sighs, on the terrace of some nice suite near the Royal Quarter of Iziz. His hands curling on the balcony's railing as his gaze swept to and fro before he turns back, remembering he had been expecting a guest. Despite having been acquainted with his living quarters for the duration of his investigation and recovery of his bounty, it still struck him at the slightest of glances. Amenities out the wahzoo, an on call maid, amazing meals, the works. Throughout his admiration he was occasionally lost looking at a piece of interesting art or a nice vase. Eventually he hears a call from the door before it slides open, with a duo of guards entering before their charge follows suit.

"Mister Jakkan, I hope you are finding your accommodations satisfactory?"

The words strung out like a careful performer atop a tight rope, balanced and practiced over the fear of failure. The inquisitive tone hit Deeno's ears and he responds with an up-thumb of affirmation,

"Grand, just grand, Lady Atiress. The protocol droid told me much, but mentioned you'd have some more info about th'target."

Deeno did his best to keep his drawl back, yet there were instances where it was too strong. This either didn't bother the royal or she kept it hidden for the sake of business. After sitting down and bading him sit across from her, she would gesture to him politely once more,

"Please, if you would present the puck to serve as visual aid for my explanation?"

The young Hunter does just that, reaching inside his jacket's interior pocket to produce said bounty puck. He lays the device on the table and turns it on. Above the puck would hover the holographic representation of the focus on this eve's meeting. A male, seemingly middle-aged, Togruta with the name 'Seswadin Nadrasharm' above the two thousand credit payout assuming the target is alive. Lady Atiress puts her hands in her lap and continues,

"As you have been briefed, albeit sparingly, this man is responsible for the destruction of my father's property and the hospitalization of three of our attendees. The property damage alone is significant, with two priceless arti- Heirlooms being lost or stolen in the process."

That small slip up was briefly noted by the Hunter with a raise of his brow, but it quickly went away,

"On site investigation by our own would suggest the latter. The three attendees in question, are very important to our family and their injuries are severe. If they survive treatment, through healing, they will be impeded the rest of their lives. Seswadin Nadrasharm is undoubtedly responsible, through surveillance and investigations we have confirmed this. The damage to our home can be repaired, but the whereabouts of those heirlooms and to see this man stand on trial for the near manslaughter of our attendees is paramount."

The noble pauses and gauges Deeno's reaction, he had none. He was intently listening like any good soul would, so in his eyes rested a natural worry over the injured. After a few seconds the talks went forth,

"The recovery of the target alive is our preference, alive or dead, if you learn anything about the missing heirlooms there will be handsome bonuses for each piece that is of significance. If the information you provide leads us directly to them, even moreso. My father and I completely understand if you are unable to accept such a responsibility, so think of it as a portion of our business that is 'under the table' as it were, Mister Jakkan."

Still, despite the talk of a hefty bonus, the Hunter wasn't overly moved. Alas, his hand did raise to his mouth with his index finger's knuckles swiping along his lips as he assumes a posture of deep thought. The noble patiently waits for a response until,

"I can't make any promises, Lady Atiress, but trust I understand how ya feel. If I lost my old man's blaster... It may not be worth as much as what you lost in credits-"

The noble smiles and cuts him off, yet with the intent to correct,

"Please, in that case, then we have similar values. The importance we place in such things cannot be numbered monetarily or explained verbally, I believe in your understanding. It fills me with a semblance of hope that you will find something to aid in recovering what was lost."

Deeno nods politely and crosses a leg over his knee, hands grasping his calf as he leans forth,

"For a pretty lady like yourself, Miss Atiress, I may even consider waving the fees,"

A wink later and the noble lets off a measured, almost tailored giggle. Deeno was none the wiser. A few moments of silence later and the noble leaves her seat, bowing,

"A fortuitous meeting I am sure, Mister Jakkan. Please do be careful and I await your success. If you need anything at all, I implore you to contact our protocol droid or if it is important, me directly."

Deeno gives the Lady a left-handed, two-fingers-missing salute for her troubles,

"Till we meet again, Lady Atiress."

With that she and her guards were free of his hickish presence; out the door they went. Deeno leans back on the nice, cushioned couch with a satisfied sigh,

"Not the worst place to be at all..."

He pushes himself to his feet and heads back to the terrace, leaning on the balcony railing once more,

"Wonder if I'm in over my head? Naaah... Should be fine... Maybe I should see if there are any others around?"

He went on with this droning for a bit.

Nima has received countless job offers, yet this one was far from normal. A few days prior, a man with silk-like stylish robes stood outside of Nima's ship on Coruscant. Nima was ready to run him off, as most who approached her ship was looking to steal parts, but the man insisted on speaking with her. The job offered was a simple one: a noble from Onderon took notice of Nima's appearance and wanted to meet her. Supposedly the noble took notice of Nima while searching for available freelancers and bounty hunters. However, the messenger didn't give a reason for the noble's desire to meet Nima, but it seemed as he had no clue either. Also, a reward was not mentioned either, and Nima was not fond of doing quests. After a couple of minutes of the messenger continuously nagging Nima to visit the noble, Nima decided to do it. Work was getting slow, and it would be nice to take some time off of Coruscant.

Returning to the present, Nima started to question if this was even a good idea. When she arrived to meet the Noble, she was instructed to follow a few maids toward a very big house located near Yolahn Square. The interior and atmosphere of the home was something very unique to Nima; one can be easily impressed when most of their surroundings include busy metal streets, grass plains, and deserts. Nima was led into what appeared to be a dressing room; there were many chairs, a couple of large mirrors, a small coffee table, and a large closet near the back. The maids instructed her to take a seat, as the noble would be arriving soon.

Minutes went by until Nima could hear a large number of footsteps outside of the dressing room "they are armed" she quickly murmured to herself as she stood up and readied her saber once a group of large guardsmen came into the room. Nima could hear the voice of irritated women in the back, and as it grew closer the guardsmen began to spread out. Soon after a lady dawning a beautifully made dress entered the room,"Stop worrying her, how would others know this is how I treat my guests?" Nima now understood that this lady is the one who wanted to meet, so she put her saber away. The noblewoman, now focusing her attention on Nima, quickly changed her expression from irritation to a bright smile "I apologize for the wait, I had other business to take care of before meeting with you. Please sit back down."

The situation definitely felt rather uncomfortable, being in a guard filled the room with only one exit. However, Nima did not feel like she was in any danger, so she would take her seat to listen to the noblewoman. The noble sat in a chair across from Nima, the small coffee table maintaining the space between them. A few minutes of awkward silence went by, as the noblewoman seemed to be observing Nima quite carefully. Unsure what to do, Nima just stared back at the woman with her blank stare. Finally, the noble crossed her legs before speaking once more "I am Lady Atiress, and you are Nima Deleste correct?" Nima responded with a simple nod, as she felt unnecessary to verbally respond. At the moment, a thought came across Nima "Do I have to speak to Nobles a certain way?" Nima pondered for the moment as Lady Atiress continued on, but Nima only heard bits and pieces. "Now for the reason I wanted to meet you," Nima's attention was caught again "your appearance caught my eye, I have not seen a figure such as yourself. I have quite the admiration for fine art, and your.... uniqueness is something that surpasses the galaxy." Nima's expression was still blank, mainly because she was quite unsure exactly what the noble wanted.

After a very one-sided conversation, Lady Atiress explained that she wanted to observe Nima for a moment. "My apologies, but may I feel your hair?" Nima, feeling even more uncomfortable, leaned her body backward as to distance herself a bit more from the noblewoman. Doing so, Nima's stomach began to growl, she had not eaten the entire day. Lady Atiress simply smiled and summoned a droid to bring beverages and snacks. On the Coffee Table was now an arrangement of baked goods ranging from cookies to pastries. Next, the droid poured a glass of a strange bright orange liquid. Hesitant at first, Nima took a sip; the drink was very sweet, and something very foreign to her tastebuds. Very soon, Nima was sitting cross-legged on the floor gladly eating the treats as Lady Atiress caressed her hair from behind. "Oh the sweet rewards of youth, you remind me somewhat of a relative before they moved away. It would very well please me if you became mine to show off, you could become a star, my dear. I want to admire your beauty Nima." Nima tilted her head upwards, mouth full of food, to look at Lady Atiress. The noblewoman placed both her hands on the side of Nima's face, softly rubbing her skin. Swallowing her food as to attempt to be polite, Nima responded: "No."

Lady Atiress seemed quite shocked, as she back off from Nima a bit. Nima continued to eat while the noblewoman seemingly struggled to get a sentence out "N-n...... no? I... I don't quite understand..." Nima swallowed her food once more before speaking "I fight, protect, hunt, and kill. I like to do that. For money and for fun." A moment of silence went by, but it was interrupted by the sound of Nima picking up another cookie to munch on. Lady Atiress spoke again, her voice sounding very anxious at this point "Th-then I could hire you as a bodyguard! How much do you want? Five-thousand credits, eight-thousand credits, name your price." This time, Nima wasn't as conscious of being polite and spoke with a mouth full of crackers "You have enough guards, this planet does not appear too dangerous, and you most likely never travel to planets. It will be boring."

Moments went by with Lady Atiress not saying a word, and pretty soon Nima was running out of snacks. It was then, the noblewoman came up with a way to persuade Nima. "I have a proposition for you then," Nima put a pause on her chewing to pay attention, "I just recently hired a hunter named Deeno Jakkan, if you ensure the success of his mission, I will gladly feed you any time you want." Nima tilted her head up, a cookie hanging out of her mouth, and her eyes almost sparkled with excitement about being fed high-quality food. "At the same time, however, you must allow me to dress you up any time you come to visit." Quickly eating the last of the snacks, Nima simply responded with "Ok" and stood up. "Take me to the hunter and I will help, then I will come back for snacks."

The name of the hunter sounded familiar, but Nima couldn't quite put her finger on it. She was led by a maid to the location of the hunter, and Nima was a bit shocked. "He's the hunter..." The maid would explain to Deeno that Nima would be assisting him, but he would still receive the full amount of his reward for accomplishing the mission. The maid would leave soon after, leaving the two alone. "Tell me the contents of your hunt. We must succeed and return as soon as possible, it is important to me." Nima's voice was filled with determination, she wanted to try the strange drink she was given again the moment she returned.

@Coleblah

Sorry for the extremely long post, just your thread poked my imagination a bit. In case you wanna skip all of it, the last paragraph is the only one you need to read for Deeno to respond to.

"Nima...?"

The Hunter seemed a bit baffled, his eyes looked out onto the expanse of Iziz before he claps his palms against his cheeks and steps back inside. He crosses his arms and waits patiently for the Zeltron's arrival. While their first meeting may have been odd, he couldn't help but smile a bit when she appeared at the door,

"Dunno if I should be worried'r excited."

He moved to sit and kick his feet up onto the table in front of the couch as he is immediately questioned,

"Is important to you, s'at so? Well, since I been thrown into the mix with ya-"

He pauses and tosses her the puck, hoping she would know how to use it,

"Seswadin Nardrasharm, saboteur, wanted alive. They blew up some royal property, hurt some royal servants, and s'far as I know... Likely stole royal heirlooms. Not sure I wanna be a part of the second half of what was asked of me, but seein' as I said somethin' about makin' an effort. The alive part is paramount, if not I get a quarter of the creds, any information concernin' the lost heirlooms are bonuses per each bit that they see's great. This is all if the perp has anythin' t'do with the missin' items, dunno if they considered a coincidence but I ain't rulin' it out."

He looks at Nima to see if his explanation was sufficient,

"This time, I have all my weapons'n I've done a bit of rootin'. If you're interested, I'll keep goin' from here, but if you ain't... M'sharin' no more, Nima."

Was he on a first name basis? Likely not, but he used it anyways.

You're fine! Added to the NPC for me, gave her a lot of personality that I made her leave out in favor of professionalism. I like it.

Nima caught the puck, but she was more focused on observing the decorations of the room rather than listening to Deeno. Nima would give the occasional nod to appear focused, but many of the small details were unimportant. Bonuses did not matter to Nima; her side of the deal was to ensure a successful mission, not any bonuses. With that in mind, Deeno pointed out something interested. He mentioned that the target was wanted alive, but also mentioned that he gets a quarter of creds if the target is dead. While it would be unfortunate for him, receiving just a quarter of the reward still implies that he succeeded. So as long as the target was captured or killed, Nima gets her reward.

A bright smile would appear on Nima's face as she stared at the hologram projected out of the puck. She then looked back up at Deeno "Location of the target?" Once Nima learned of the target's location, she would have everything she needed. Then, Nima would be on her way to complete the mission.

"The location of the tar- Do you know anythin' about trackin'? At all? If I knew the target's location I would'a had him sittin' in this room already. The location I still gotta find, n'I'll be damned if I give up my leads with that ear-to-ear grin you got goin' on."

He would move to retrieve his equipment, his rifle which was wrapped in cloth completely to keep it concealed and his peacemaker. His holster had been re-positioned so he could keep wandering eyes off of it and spare civvies the nervousness. He looks towards Nima afterwards,

"Place I need to go isn't too far away, you comin'?"

He would get to the door midway through his query, holding it open and ready to set off when she was able.

Nima wondered if she could still receive her reward, even if something were to accidentally happen to Deeno. Lady Atiress said to ensure his mission was successful, but not to ensure that he remained alive. Nima would keep the thought in the back of her mind during the mission. For now, Nima would mind her time; "I asked to see how good you are. Do you expect me to know how competent of a hunter you are?"

Making her way through the door, Nima quickly searched for the nearest maid to have them inform Lady Atiress that Nima will be returning soon, and exactly what her favorite snacks were. Then, Nima would follow Deeno towards their next location.

"Look... I dunno what your angle is, where you're from, or how self-serving you are, even if I did- The only ones I have to prove myself to are my employers. I don't expect anythin' outta anyone, but payment from my employers in return."

He watched her go off, then come back a moment later, a hand comes to the back of his head. They would walk the streets of Iziz for a good few minutes before he slows and gives a particular hovel a perusal. He slips his hands into his pockets, approaching the front door. The home itself was on a street less traveled, their presence didn't draw undue attention; granted, Nima drew quite a bit for different reason.

"This is... Was his home. I dunno if he's been back, but if he hasn't, there may be things we can find t'give us'n idea or two about where he plans to go."

The building itself is a two story housing unit, built into a row of them, on the second floor a window was open. Deeno saw this soon enough and would sigh. He rubs his hands together then moves to knock on the door, only for its automation to make it open. His instinct was to reach for his blaster, hand curled over the grip. He seemed to trust Nima not to put a saber through his back for now as he stepped in, his keen gaze watchful for any slight movement.

Nima felt amazed at how easily someone could feel like they were attacked; a question was asked, Nima gave a response, and a whole lecture is given in return. "It seems the Jedi influence has definitely spread across the galaxy" she thought to herself. She would follow Deeno to the location, with a few occasional glances received from strangers

As they approached what few would consider a house, Nima understood what Deeno's plan was, and she let out a sigh. "This is his plan....". Nima assumed that if someone is capable of trespassing on a noble's property, manage to take a few valuable items, take out a few workers, and escape scott-free, then there is no way they are stupid enough to leave behind evidence in the most obvious location. Nima would look up at the window as well; it was one that could only be opened from the inside, meaning it was not open simply from the wind.

Turning around, Nima would take a few steps away from the house; her instincts told her to do so. She would turn around and watch as Deeno was about to go in. "Do I tell him?" Nima began calculating the exact worth of having Deeno around before making a decision. She came to the conclusion that she would attempt to keep him alive until she knew the location of the target; he would be responsible for himself after. "Before you take another step, I would like to let you know that I personally would not want to walk in there." Although her instincts could be wrong at times, Nima felt sure that the house was rigged with traps. "Automatic door and a window that is gladly open for anyone to climb in. What kind of amateur am I with?"

"I've been watching this place since I got here, Nima. I wouldn't walk in unless I knew what I was dealin' with."

He seemed confident, maybe a bit too confident, but in the end at the door; nothing would happen. His footsteps continue, still nothing. His gaze peered towards a set of stairs leading upwards, then a door on the side of the stairwell that likely lead down. His first priority was to take a gander at the kitchen and once he did he found that wares after a meal were never cleaned; enough for a good last dinner.

"First floor is clear! If you're so worried, you can leave. If not..."

He trails off, not invested enough to continue his line of thought.

Nima let out a sigh. "Watching from the outside is different then actually investigating idiot" she thought to herself. As Deeno continued to walk in, Nima reached for her commlink located in a hidden pocket on her side and clicked a small blue button on the side. By the time Deeno got to the kitchen, a small surveillance droid arrived at Nima's side. "P-0, scan for any extra sensors located in the building." The small droid was fitted with a multitude of sensors, it and flew upwards to get a whole view of the building.

After a couple of minutes, the surveillance droid flew back down and used its holoprojector to display what it detected; something was wrong. If Deeno was walking around the house, then the droid would have picked him up with its motion sensor, but the holoprojector showed nothing; there were sensor jammers in the building. Clearly, the owner of the house is wanting to hide something. Nima was about to rush into the house to stop Deeno, but she stopped herself. "He said he knows what he is dealing with." Nima looked back up towards the open window."P-0, go up to the open window and look at what is inside, but do not enter." The droid would respond with a series of beeps before flying up to its destination.
