Slowly running his right hand through his long brown hair Thomas moved his bangs behind his left ear so as to keep it out of his eyes. Scanning the room slowly from left to right he noted that, except for the light fixtures the room, was barren. Sticking his hand in his pocket he pursed his lips to whistle a short tune. Thomas was awaiting his first step toward becoming a Jedi. In this step he needed to await his new Master Corina. An opportunity awaited and Thomas planned to seize it.

Corina arrived in the room and looked at her new apprentice. She smiled warmly, "Hello, I'm Corina Linar, your new master," she said. She gazed around the room with a little disdain, Ossus was such a beautiful world, "Follow me," she said, leading him into the gardens of the temple. They arrived and she sat on the floor by fountain.

"I would like you to tell me about yourself."

Thomas laughed awkwardly as Corina greeted him, and then opened his mouth to speak. Instead she continued to speak and he nodded in agreement instead. Then he followed her to the fountain and sat down. The trickling water was calming and beautiful. He anticipated many nights sitting by the fountain just relaxing.

"I come from Coruscant. I took a freighter here, but grew up there." He grinned earnestly and continued with his story. "My family was wealthy and chose not to send me to live with the Jedi when I was young." He opened his mouth to continue but found the words hard to speak. Stammering he said, "I am not sure what else to say except that I really think that the path of the Jedi will be more fulfilling than my previous life. I am glad you decided to become a part of my path." He extended a hand.

She took it and shook it, before continuing, "Tell me of your life before you came to the Jedi. Surely you did more than just taking a freighter?"

"I did." He laughed awkwardly once again. He wasn't exactly sure of how to act around his newfound master. So he just tried to gather his thoughts enough to speak again. "My father was. Is." He corrected himself from the past tense. "A business man. I was on my way to the university but decided it wasn't for me. I did well in school and everything like that, but it just wasn't going to be the knowledge I am seeking. I want to see the galaxy and know its inner workings. Do you get what I am saying?"

"I know I am rambling a little bit and am failing to really truely answer your question." After a moment of pause and a deep breath he let go of his inhibitions. "I guess I really don't know who I am or better I don't think I really know who I was. I was just existing."

He spoke intelligently, she thought. "You will know yourself in time," she said, "for now, we shall begin with basic meditation techniques. I want you to center yourself in the Force, close your eyes and think about something you know well, something mundane and concentrate on it. When you can see nothing but that, let the Force flow through you."

Trying to center his weight and to get his body ready to meditate. Closing his eyes he focused on a statue that used to stand in his yard back home on Coruscant, but everytime he would try to focus completely on the large monolithic obelisk something else would pop into his mind. Thoughts seemed to race more every time he would try to get them out of his head. "Easier said than done." He laughed quietly.

"Don't break your concentration," she said, "just focus on the object and let the Force guide you. Feel it's eddies and currents lead you as it flows through you."
