"So how do we play this? Like we did on Bakura? Or like that time on Lehon?"
― Venisa Doza, to Torch
Bakura was a beautiful blue-green world known for its agricultural and repulsorlift exports. Its two moons had been heavily mined for materials used in the manufacture of the second Death Star. It was also right on the edge of the galaxy. “From Bonadan to Bakura via Bothawui” was an old saying that suggested it was easier to get from the Corporate Sector to Bakura via a wide detour to Bothan space than it was to go straight through the Core, with its dense overlap of mass shadows and treacherous hyperspace lanes.
It also connected three high-tech but otherwise very different industrialised worlds. Of the three, Bakura was still verdant and pastoral.
The brief was simple enough. Whilst the loss of the initial shipment of prototype goods was an unfortunate setback, coupled with the recent attacks on the supply shipments from the mining haulers it was becoming a more pressing priority.
It would appear that the ‘raiders’weren’t content on harassing the imports and exports that run along the Shiritoku Way trade route.
So, they had been gifted some acquired ships, and were tasked with carrying out an open and brazen attack on a shipment that was currently docked at the orbiting fuelling station within the sector.
The briefing came with the usual warnings – to expect resistance from local security patrols.
Yes, even Bakura, a world often overlooked had security. But it was also a world that the Sith Order now had a means to influence and benefit from, either through the seeds of corruption that were starting to take root, or through the exploitation of recently brokered trade deals.
Why the attack then? The problem – for the Sith – was that the planet saw no need to defend itself significantly. This attack was hopefully the straw that broke the Bantha’s back and ensured Bakura would agree to invest into a defensive fleet to protect its outgoing shipments. A fleet that would naturally be at the disposal of the Order. Hidden, in plain view.
