Old player, new game

I was reminiscing about my old RP days and thought I'd try to find a new forum, this was the first to pop up in my search, so here I am.

I searched around the site, read some of The Story thread and was intrigued about the timeline in particular. Interesting stuff. I've done Legacy before but it was only about 150-200ABY, not long after the fall of Krayt's Galactic Empire. 1000+ABY sounds even better.

A bit of history: I started RPing SW in 2006 on myspace of all things, then turned to roleplayer.me for a few years before deciding to take a break, then just never went back. The character I started with is still my main, who would be over 150 years old if I ever bothered to properly arrange his timeline(too many stories, too many wars and battles for a character of 29 y/o). I've had many other characters over the years, most I still have, though a Gen'Dia(disallowed here, what a shame) Assassin and Wraith-bound Human Politician (look up Space Wraith) are my faves next to my main.

Before I get too far, I do have some concerns and questions.
1) What's the policy on pre-existing characters? Not sure if I want to start from scratch after so many years.
2) Is there a limit on secondary characters, like family, arch-nemesis or tactical team?
3) What is the general structure of actual roleplay? Is there "seasons" or is it a free-for-all whenever-you-like kind of thing?
4) Wars and battles can get ugly ooc, how do you go about composing?

As a veteran of bitter-blood and hostility from other RPers, I find myself a bit reluctant to jump in again, but this place looks nice so far. :)

I'm just a lady, not an FL or an AFL, but I'll do my best to relay what I see going on to help answer your questions.

1) Pre-existing characters should be good, but as for retaining ranks, you would need speak with the Faction Leader of each faction you wish to join.

2) NPCING is ok, but these characters won't be permitted to swoop in to save the day. If they are really played to effect story or an outcome, they should probably have a character sheet.

3) We do have an ongoing forum plot which effects all factions in their own way. However sideplots and character driven plots are always going on as well.

4) Factions post war threads for anyone interested to join. Participation is not mandatory. But RPers post write-ups for their ships, gear, and armor for approval to the tech boards, or use tech already approved. Admin ruling is absolute during any posting discrepancies.

Lastly, we have diehard PvPers, as well as story driven characters RPed here. There is something for every taste. You just need to find the right group of writers you're looking for, and you can do that in the OOC forums.

No worries, you are not NOT welcome here, more i the contrary. The more the merrier.
Hostility you also should not expect, since the players around here are a surprising cooperative and open bunch of players, unless there's reason to. And even if there's unreasonable heat, the Admins are keen to hear about things and usually are reaaaaly good in finding peaceful solutions.

Regarding Lutomi's response to your questions I can only nod in agreement, since she is around way longer then me and knows things way better then me. But there's one thing I would like to add:

Pre-existing Characters:
As the lovely @Lutomi already mentioned, the Faction Leaders (FLs) are the way to go to present your 'imported' char. Depending on what faction it is, it should be no trouble to find them.

Including the NPC's you intend to insert to the universe. (There are even some fancy templates to prettify it!)

As a time-saver, I would recommend to add a TL;DR short-list at the end of the biography, so that the Faction Leader can see in a short glance what you have there and a small sum-up section in what the char is intended to be, intended to become and so on. (The TL;DR and sum-up of course can be removed when you post the 'finished' char here)

These are, of course only recommendations intended to smooth the integration and I am looking forward to see you in action pretty soon.

I certainly will. Having a character nearly a decade old, it may take some time to consolidate his entire history(something I've never done), and I'm sure some rewrite will be necessary.

I too did an import of sorts. You may wanna run your back story by one of us because some of the planets in question may not be around anymore. Or may not be habitable. We're generally a friendly group (except @Outlander ((jkjk))) (though people call me unfriendly / rude so I don't know) but you are definitely welcome here!
