THEME

Once again Kai stood outside the gambling den. The place had been the host of a party a few weeks back but after that the Grysk had figured he would take advantage of the connection he had made. It had been just the one off of the party in that instance but now he wanted something more. Gambling was a lucrative business especially in Hutt space. Who better to approach than a Hutt?

Both of his hands were stuck in the pockets off his hoodie. Kai knew it was on the casual side in terms of business attire but he was meeting a giant slug. He had a shepard outfit but that was more of a gimmick outfit anyways. He wanted to feel comfortable.

Flanking him was his trusty Kaleesh cohort, Bruggan. On the other side was his Lepi henchman, Jax. Back inside a running airspeeder was a Barabel who was called Presh. Each of Kai's entourage had a sidearm of some sort and their own tools of the trade. They were here just more a show of might like any good criminal entrepenuer. Kai wanted Ikraggo the Hutt to have confidence in his own abilities.

Kai walked up to the door and knocked. He wondered if the Hutt had prepared some kind of meeting. Then again, a wart covered slug might not be the best host The covert Legionnaire thought to himself as his cigara curled spice laced smoke over his head.

After a moment, the door swung open rather violently as a Rodian got literally kicked out of the establishment by a rather angry Trandoshan! "And don't ssshow your fassse (face) until you have the money you owe usss, little wretch!" he yelled, and the poor Rodian ran away in panic essentially. The lizard man then looked over Kai. "Hm, you mussst be the Grysssk Ikraggo wasss waiting for. Come with me" he said as he motioned at him to follow. As they entered, Kai would be hit in the face by a thick cloud of scented smoke: it looked like they had ended up in the smokers section of Ikraggo's establishment. They went through it and into a large backroom where the Hutt was waiting for them, lounging on a large recliner while talking with someone on a holocom. As Kai entered, he dismissed the caller and smiled at the alien. "Aaah, greetings my friend! Welcome!" he said as he motioned at him to come closer. The room was of course pretty large, with various exotic decorations on the walls. On a side there was a desk where an accountant was doing his job, while in the opposite end from the room's entrance was the large recliner Ikraggo was laying on. In front of him there was a small banquet with many Hutt and other alien delicacies. It looked like the Hutt had organized himself for a warm welcome!

The door opened and Kai stepped aside in time to watch a bubble eyed Rodian stumble past him and land face flat on the ground. The Grysk looked back inside to see the trandoshan who proceeded to berate the indebted individual. The scaly thug motioned for him to follow and the others of Kai's entourage followed suite.

There was a lot of space when they came to the meeting room. The Hutt welcomed them but Kai only looked at him for a moment, his attention on the area around them. Hutts tended to need more space anyways for their larger bodies so it made sense. <"Quite the place you've got here, Ikraggo."> He commented in Huttese.

Kai motioned for his men to take part in the buffet of choices the Hutt had brought for them. It was an abnormally warm welcome. For now the Grysk would withhold partaking in any of the food. He was not hungry and was focused on business. Instead he walked towards the wart covered Hutt. <"How long have you had this business?">

The Hutt raised a brow as he saw Kai's entourage follow him, but he mentally shrugged. He didn't say anything regarding if he had to be alone or what, so they were welcome too. "I hope the banquet is of your liking. It's composed of various Huttese and other foods of species living here on Nar Shaddaa" he said smiling as he saw Kai's men enjoy the offered food. At Kai's question, he answered "Thirty years in fact. It's my very first business, and well, one that makes my father proud of me too" he said with a bit of pride in his voice. "But I'm planning to expand further also in other branches, apart from betting. Who knows, perhaps I could even pull up a casino one day..."

The Gyrsk reached into his jacket and pulled out a tin of cigaras. Placing one between his lips he fished around for his cheap gas station purchased lighter. ~zssht a flame was produced and burned the tip of his vice, slightly causing the skeletal face of Kai to lit up in warm glow. Putting the simple tool back in his pocket the covert legionnaire exhaled a cloud that added to the already saturated air.

"Thirty years....pretty good....pretty long." He looked around, nodding and then looked back at Ikraggo. "I'm interested in gambling as a business. There's a lot of avenues to do it. Cards, dice, races, sports, all that. Any reason why you haven't expanded yet in the thirty years you've had your business?" He took another deep inhalation of the spice laced cigara.

Kai was coasting on a buzz as he usually did. Some brandy still flowed in his veins from earlier that day. A caffeine pill, a nutrition pack, that was about it. "What do you do for uh....unruly patrons? I saw that Rodian get tossed out. I bet it's not always that easy. Hehe" His ghoulish grinning face turned into more of an enticing smile.

Ikraggo took a pull of his hookah and sighed softly as he puffed out a large cloud of scented smoke. "Well, let's say that I haven't developed it much because I couldn't find any collaborators that were interested in my business, alas. That's why I hoped I could find an accord with you, Kai" he said. Then he laughed softly at the mention of the Rodian. "Oh, that son of a kath hound? He owed me plenty of money. I helped him with a small loan to give him a better life, since he was extremely poor and struggled to maintain his family. Now he has a decent job, and so he has to return me the credits I gave him! Today I was in a relatively good mood and simply kicked him out. If he found me in a sore mood... well, probably you'd have seen a bag in place of the Rodian."

"Hmm" The Grysk mused and paced casually around the room. His own vice added smaller puffs to the larger clouds created by the muscular Hutt. "Well, I'm looking to expand and gambling is an area of profitability. Consider me interested."

After hearing about the basic life of the Rodian, Kai smiled but shook his head. "You misunderstand my question, Ikraggo. I meant what do you do about people that might be more aggressive in their refusal for paying? Striking some Rodian who's making ends meet is one thing. But what about those that might be more brazen and take violent action. What do you do about them?" His paces walked a little closer to the selection of foods. His men had grabbed just a tiny bit of things. Some of them scrutinized the artwork, giving judgmental looks to the employees of the Hutt.

Kai stopped and stared at the hookah. His tone changed a little. "That's a nice piece you got there." He got a little closer and stared at the liquid chamber. The dark sider's mind contemplated what else he could use the device for if he got one for himself.

The Hutt chuckled softly. "Ah, I see. Sorry for misunderstanding. Well, for these, I have my buddy here" he said pointing at the Trandoshan beside him. "He's a former bounty hunter, and he loves the thrill of hunting someone who owes me money" he said, the Trandoshan smirking some. "I'm the bessst on Nar Ssshaddaa, so you'd better not messsss with bosssss!" "Oh come on, now you're exaggerating" he chuckled lightly.

Seeing the Grysk getting interested in his hookah, he smiled. "Oh, that's a small gift my father gave me a few months after I opened the betting house. It's a family tradition, since his father did the same with him" he explained as he took another pull and puffed a large cloud of smoke.

Hearing the slug talk about his trandoshan muscle the Grysk looked him up and down. He did seem big and strong. Then again most trandoshans did in general. "Right" Looking back to the hookah he gave it another once over before pulling out his flask and taking a decent swig from it. Kai let out a satisfied exhale and pocketed again.

"All pleasantries aside I think I should tell you what I want." His men finished up some of the munching they had enjoyed. "I'm expanding my own operations and want your gambling house to be part of it. Not only that I want your operation to expand just the way you enthusiastically stated." He began to pace slowly, walking towards the back of the room and beside the Hutt but still keeping outside of his reach. The trando isn't the only one with muscles He thought to himself. Kai knew that he sometimes triggered people.

"I'm not someone who knows a lot about the gambling world. At least not as much as someone like you, Ikraggo. You've been in it thirty years. So, you'll keep your business as your own and I think if things go well you'll be the owner of probably a chain of casinos." The duo that had come with Kai finally took on a more professional and attentive stance more akin to how the Trandoshan bodyguard had been paying attention.

The Hutt followed Kai with his eyes, and so did also the Trandoshan. Ikraggo smirked softly at the Grysk's statement and asked: "All this sounds very appealing, my friend. But how you plan to do so? You surely must have some ideas about that" he said, a bit of a suspicious glance appearing in his eyes... You never knew what a potential business partner could ask you, but so far the terms sounded fair, since he'd still be independent and not under the Grysk's command... in theory.

An amused murmur came from the ghoulish man. A mischievous expression played on his face for a moment before returning to the smug look it had before. Malakai did not want to provide more information than was necessary. Even in business the amount of information his competition knew was important.

"Provided you agree, I would make sure that your gambling operations move beyond Nar Shaddaa. Place like Boonta, Tatooine, Nal Hutta, and the Wheel I think are a good goal before the end of the year. I can give you information about one expansion project, though it won't be as much as you like probably. You know how it is....plausible deniability and all that."

There were some concerns in the back of the Grysk's mind. The Hutt, while he was long lived in terms of species, he had only a single body guard and few labourers. He had not expanded in the thirty years of his business existing and said it was because he could not find any worth while associates. But Kai wondered if people did not want to deal with him for another reason. If the Hutt thought he could do better than the under cover Legionnaire there were probably a few others around he could contact.

"Letting people know information they don't need to know can result in some undesirable outcomes. I hold myself and the people in my organization responsible for what goes on in their purview. So with that in mind...how much do you want to know." Kai's tone was laced with a warning. He would not hold it against the Hutt for deciding either way. But he would hold the slug accountable if it came back to bite him. Kai's eyes looked at the staring Hutt, wondering how many slices it would take to behead the large being. He's more useful alive. I don't want it to come to that. It was not a new thought. The Grysk thought about the same thing with virtually everyone he came across.

Ikraggo nodded listening to Kai's explanation, humming softly. "I see, I see. Well, As long as you're not involved with these lightstick-wielding freaks, or if you are, you don't involve them in my affairs, we're good and I'm ok with you keeping secrets. Just, as I said, don't bring people with lightsabers in my establishment. Or, if you really have to, make them put their weapons in a safe place where they can't reach them. That's my only condition. I don't want to risk my head because I protected criminals" he said. Bold words, given Ikraggo himself was kind of a criminal. Although he was being honest on that. "Well, I just want to know how you want to expand. The planets you listed entice me quite a bit."

The Hutt spoke like Malakai was going to be the one enforcing a bag check or something on Ikraggo's place of business. Security paramters could be set by the Hutt and then if he needed extra help the Grysk would provide it. The Hutt seemed to believe that the Trandoshan was all he needed so far.

"Well first, for expansion, we need bodies. How do you feel about droids or those that are prisoners...but with jobs?" He was talking about the cheap kind of labor. It was not the only option but it was fairly straight forward. "I'll be able to get more hands myself soon enough in the event you need some added...strength for something. I'm good but my assets are finite. If you move forward well enough on your own without my help then that would make you an even more valued associate, wouldn't it?" He hoped he did not need to spell out the rest.

"Now for my plans I have the ambition to have casinos all across the galaxy. Canto Bight will probably be one of the first ones. How does that sound? Don't you want to be known as a successful, and might I add, legitimate businessman...er...Hutt? There might be travel involved by the way. I'd hate for you to be a homebody if you don't like getting out of the house." His head looked up and around, wondering if Hutts disliked travel as a species due to their physique.

"I don't mind droids or indentured laborers, as they're defined. I'll look for someone who could provide me these assets, though I'm pretty sure it'll relatively easy to find them here" he said. At the mention of Canto Bight, the man grinned widely. "My my,that's quite the ambition, and I agree with you. Canto Bight is definitely a good place to start from for the gambling business. Perhaps I could even expand to racing and such... My father owns a racing course down on Nal Hutta, and he taught me the ropes of managing one, so I'm pretty sure I won't have many issues." The Hutt stretched some and then slipped off the recliner, slithering towards a door that brought directly inside the main room of his betting business, and slightly opened it, sighing some. "You know, I'm honestly happy to have found someone who could help me expanding. I've attempted a few times in the last few years, but I mostly found frauds or simple liars. True that Nar Shaddaa isn't the best place to find business partners, but still. Also, regarding the moving, I don't mind it. I'm not so fat that I can't move" he chuckled. "Differently from other Hutts, I prefer to keep myself in shape."

At the mention of expanding to racing the Grysk smiled and interjected. "I'd be disappointed if you didn't" There was more than table games of cards and dice that could earn a boat load of credits. "I have confidence in you Ikraggo." He added after the Hutt mentioned his own comfort with moving towards the racing industry.

I'm glad we could come to an understanding. Being normal is too... He gave a pause as he tried to think of the right words. "...boring anyway." The ghoulish criminal shrugged like it was that simple. He knew the trials and travails of being strange.

Reaching into his pockets again he pulled out a commlink and brought it to the table beside Ikraggo. "Here's a commlink if you need to get in contact with me." It already had contact information for one of his disposable commlinks. "I do think though that I have another engagement to see to. Is there anything else?" The Hutt host had been hospitable and so he wanted to make sure that things would end professionally.

Ikraggo smiled as Kai gave him the commlink and nodded. "Alright, I'll call you if needed. And keep me updated on your little projects regarding our deal, alright?" he said, and then gave the Grysk a friendly slap on his shoulders. "Nah, I won't keep you more, I can tell you have other things to do. I hope to hear from you soon!" he said with a smile. Finally someone who would help him with expanding his business!
