  The name they gave me is Obsidian Devva.
  
  I was born into nothing, to parents who were servants to some noble. I don't remember much about them except that my birth mother was a shining beauty among the lower class. She made the upper class jealous, which is probably why she disappeared one day alongside my father. Adorable little baby me was then taken to an orphanage. Not the kind that helps kids find families though. The kind that accommodates to the wishes of the wealthy.
  
  They call us Companions. It's really just a classy title for a slave. The way it works is that a Noble will require something and they contact the Matron who picks out the correct one of us for the job. Sometimes it's to fake a relationship, sometimes we ruin them by creating the illusion of an affair. Most of the time though, we are hired for purely physical uses. See, we Companions are a fertile bunch so we can succeed in impregnating a Nobles wife if the Noble can't get his troops out onto the field, if you know what I mean.
  
  Personally, I prefer the two hour jobs where we just pleasure the client and leave. It's weird knowing that a mini me could be running around somewhere on Alderaan and I wouldn't even know.
  
  We serve a dual purpose as well. See, the Matron is an awfully gossip driven woman. What every Companion knows about the Matron without a doubt, is that she loves her secrets. While a Companion goes out on a job, we are tasked with listening in to the words being spoken about us and reporting any particularly juicy information back to the Matron. I don't know what she does with the info personally, but we do get a decent bonus if we give her the good gossip.
  
  I've been doing this for a few years now. My childhood was full of things like learning the correct way to speak, how to mimic the behavior of the nobles, how to listen to a conversation without looking like it and of course, how to manipulate somebody with the pleasures of the flesh. But I want something more, to be remembered. Nobody is going to remember just another Companion doing their job. But people always remember the powerful. They are the ones who get written about in the history books, their names known far and wide.
  
  So I guess Obsidian Devva is going to have to take some power for himself. Should be fun.

  Obsidian is charming, perceptive and intelligent. Thanks to his training as a Companion, he's picked up how to read a persons body language and facial cues to make an educated guess about how to approach them. His confidence is completely manufactured and comes to him easily. A Companions job is to make their client, and everybody else around them, feel at ease and have a good time, so that's what he does.
  
  A shameless flirt and born flatterer, Obsidian has a disarming personality. Rarely showing anger or frustration, he hides everything behind a charming smile and some honeyed words. Among the things hidden behind this mask is his manipulative nature. He doesn't actually care about anybody except himself and is more than happy to orchestrate harm coming to somebody else. There is nothing he will not do to achieve his goal of a legacy for himself, whether it be destroying somebodies reputation or sleeping with the right person.
  
  Of course, he cannot act completely openly. He's smart enough to realize that he has to be careful as he works towards his ambition, so he keeps up his charming mask in order to continue keeping his deceptive truth under wraps.
