A woman on The Colbert Report just said that Barack Obama is not black because he is not the descendant of a slave, has not suffered and has not lived the "black experience".

My ears are bleeding.[/b]
Someone should tell this women that you shouldn't be making a choice of this importance based on race. It shouldn't matter if he is a "different kind of black!", make the choice on his policies and the type of person he is not what "type of black" he may or may not be.

It will happen though.

Hommies won't vote for him and neither will ultra conservatives simply based on colour.

The ignorance that I pick up from this post is astonishing. By saying that, you are declassing the african americans who are not educated for any reason, whether by choice or inability (lack of funds, etc.). You must realize that if a black child living in a ghetto had the oppertunities as a middle class child, black or white, then he wouldn't grow up differently at all, despite his characteristic differences. Also, I resent your use of that word, even if you were not meaning it in a durogatorive way.[/b]

No, I am just stating a fact. Obama went to Harvard... why would this woman (not myself) be judging a man and branding him "not black" because they have not taken a part in the "Black Experience"? Doesnt sound right to me... He is an educated man, people should focus on that before judging him on the colour of his skin.

Also, you were right, I was not using the word "******" in a durogatorive way, so when there are other black people calling eachother by that name, I cannot see why you should be offending when I quote them.

Don't say the word at all. No one, regardless of whether you are white, black, blue, yellow or megenta, should be saying that word or any other racial slur. Don't get yourself into the habit of saying "Well, they do it" as a justification.

I'm not justifying it... but you cant deny the word exists and is still being used.

In my opinion, this woman should not even call it the "black experience" because there are literally millions of black people who have never been slaves, and these descendents of slaves aren't even slaves themselves, so how have they had the experience? And it's more than just black people who have been slaves; there have been asians, whites, hispanics, women, the list goes on.

If she really thinks being the descendent of a slave is the "black experience", she is one dumb racist bitch.

That doesn't make it right for you to use it.
