Nova felt lonely, almost lost in the iron belly of her fathers ship. As long as she could remember the Aurora had been her home, and alongside with her father the only constancy in her life. She was a capable pilot, but seeing the seat next to her empy felt like a dagger to the heart and also took its toll on her focus and flying skill. Rudy could feel her distress and stayed close to her, but even he could barely stop the tears from pouring forth...
She leaned back into the soft headrest of the pilot seat. Then she closed her eyes. She felt so tired, she just wanted to rest, only a couple of minutes...

Nova knew she would see it again. She could feel it from the first breath in this dream, and this time she knew it was a dream. She had dreamed of the being before, and not just once, but multiple times. Some of what she had seen and felt had been peaceful and gifting her with comfort, but the last encounter had been overshadowed by a evergrowing darkness beyond further determining. Fear had reached out for her, and she hadn't been able to escape its grip, carrying the impressions of this dangerous vibe still with her.
She could see the being, this time it presented itself as a shining light. Its shilouettes gained more and more contour, till she could see that it was way taller than her, even taller than Master Alister. The young girl wondered if it was...a man?
"Why do you keep visiting me in my dreams?" she asked kindly, struggling to ban any sign of agitatin within her voice. She had once dreamed of her mother with similar intensity, but she knew it was a ghost of the past, even back then. This here didn't feel like something she had left behind, but something very current.

Uneasy was Finn's sleep. The sheets where sticking to his sweat soaked body and he was tossign and turning. He was having horrible nightmares. They were terrible memories that had come to life, taken far beyond what they had been, they plunged his mind into a horrible abyss. He was lost, floating on a ocean of darkness. Fear grabbed him and tried to drown him in these dark waters. He felt himself being choked slowly, held under by unseen hands. Invisible fingers closing around his throat.
Feeling helpless Finn called out in his mind. It was a wordless cry for help. A telepathic scream that somehow did bring someone into his dreamworld. The pitch black was split by a bright yellow light. And a figure floated before Finn. The dark was pushed back and was exchanged by a familiar scene. A clearing with a small pool in its center appeared when the blackness was showed back.
“You!?” Finn stated when the pressure on his chest eased up and he could breathe again. He reached out and with the tip of his fingers tried to reach for the being of light. As if a touch could drive away the last threads of the darkness that still lingered in his mind. But the being shifted, moved out of reach just a tiny little bit so that his hand swept through thin air without ever touching it.

The being spoke. Finn had realized that it was indeed language that the being brought fourth but he could not understand whatever was said. The words were foreign, alien. “I do not understand. I am sorry.” He said and it was not the first time he had to tell the being this. Every time he had done so though he could tell it had the same problem he had. They seemed to be unable to communicate on anything but the most basic level. Moving, looking, and sometimes touching. But not this time apparently.
Yet something was different this time. The creature made of light was taking form. Slowly but this time more noticeably so it had taken humanoid shape. An outline was visible that almost gave away the arms, legs, torso and head. As an aftereffect of the being speaking Finn had a strange sense of understanding. It was not his enemy. It did not want him harm and without knowing how he could tell he knew that it had come because he had called out. It had driven the darkness away for him. “Thank you, I guess.” He said and he put all what he said into a telepathic stream of feelings and emotion. Hoping that if it had heard his cry for help they could maybe communicate on that level.

Nova wished she would have been able to communicate with the being in a proper way. She tried again in every new dream and her frustration grew with each failure. She wondered what it had to say. There was a cry, but even that one was barely recognizable as such. What was the reason this strange encounters didn't stop? Was there a reason at all? Nova would even go this far to think they grew more and more intense. When the being reached out for her she couldn't resist to shy back in a subtle way. She hadn't forgotten what she had felt the last time...
Then a small tendril of something that reminded her of dark dust approched her. She was wary, but it was all so tiny it didn't scare her. She raised her hand touched it with her fingertip. Tthe moment she touched it, it quickly shrank back and a burst of light surrounded her and the being. The light then dimmed down to resemble the warm red and gold of a sunset.
Even though she couldn't understand the words that the being spoke, the wave of gratefulness wasn't beyong her comprehension. She smiled and nodded, just a second later realizing the being most likely wouldn't be able to see the one nor the other.
Nova then focused on her feeling of curiosity, hoping it would catch on that and see that she was wondering about who he or she was.

It reached out to him and as it had done once before it caused a reaction. Unlike the first time though it was not a reaction of the mind that followed. No visions followed, no memories were witnessed. A small explosion of light bathed the whole scene in hues of red and gold. The green of the forest was replaced. Like a sphere it enclosed both of them and Finn was certain he could feel the beings answer to his telepathic attempt at communication. Was it a question? Was it a response to his expression of gratitude? He hoped so. He closed his eyes, looked downwards and his lips curled upwards somewhat. “Well I guess we can communicate with each other after all.” He said and tried again. This time he gave thought to the question he had sensed. How could he even answer that question? A face would not mean anything to the being. A name even less. There were trillions of beings in the galaxy. Coruscant alone held more faces than anyone could ever tell apart and there were more names than anyone could count. Surely some would have faces quite similar to one another without being even remotely related. And some surely held the same name.

The only way he could think of conveying his feelings was through a concept. A set of interwoven feelings and ideas that would hopefully bring across what he meant to tell her. So he tried to put it into words and focus the feelings that rose within himself while he spoke them. “You have been a light when darkness threatened to overwhelm me. You were there when I called for help. I do not know you, but you are a true friend if ever there was one. So If you ever are in need of someone, if you ever need to escape the darkness around you, if the world is grim and the night weighs heavy on you, then call for me! I will meet you here, in this place we will fend of the shadows together, and cast them out. When your days grow dark, I will be a friend to you as you have been to me.” Finn said and his feelings pulsed outwards like calm waves onto the ocean shore. He had reached deep inside of himself to find these feelings. They were precious to him and he had buried them beneath a shell of cold and unrelenting harshness. For this being though and for the saving hand it had extended him he was willing to lay them bare.
For without this friend he would have fallen into darkness.

In the stream of emotions which was sent to her lay a certain pattern, and Nova quickly learned to read it. A pattern however was harder to read than letters, the latter being less complicated and less..open to interpretation. Yet still she was confident to decipher what flow into her mind. When the strange, echoing sounds of the light being gave way to silence, Nova in return focused on the joy that quickend her spirit yet again. In this dream her body was seized by a comfortable dizzyness and warmth filled her stomach and made her ears burn. It reminded her on the one time master Alister had allowed her a cup of berrywine, and she had drunk three in secret. She wondered if babies felt like this in their mothers wombs?

Nova dearly hoped her trying to be brave and letting this being be part of a cheerful spark would earn her another kind respond. But something else was offered, wasn't it?
The young Elgrin closed her eyes and summoned a memory, powerful and pervaded by love. When her blond lashes lifted and the green underneath scouted the distance, she could see a child, its golden hair dancing in the wind. A tall grown man in a thick cloak adorned by fur collar stand close to her. The man reached out for the girls hand, and she happily took it. Nova could hear the little one humming a melody, then a deep, distinctive voice rose and sang quitely. The humming of the girl transformed into a high, silvery voice. The melody was only heard a few moments, then the voices as well as both figures vanished, as did the darkness they were surrounded by. But it was not the darkness they feared so much. It was the blackly nuance of a young night, highlighted by moonshine.
Nova felt melancholic seeing this again. It was many years ago, but seeing him again...it was only a few days so far and yet it felt like eternity to her. She missed him. She didn't feel complete without him.

If the being was able to feel what she had shared with it? To see the night, the man, the child? To hear he song? Through their emphatic link she let the being witness her feeling a great loss, the pure horror of the apprehension to never see her father again....

Finn did not know if the being understood him. But he trusted in the force that their communication would work. It was after all the force they used to communicate with. That much he had realized by now. It was a telepathic link they shared. If only sometimes and for the time of their dreams. He wondered if this being was much like what he saw in reality or if it looked different. Was it even a being of flesh and blood or truly a being made form energy? He had heard of stranger things in his time. Maybe time would tell.

After he had told the being his part he waited for a response and after a while indeed he could feel something coming back form it. A warmth emanated form it unlike any he had ever felt in his life. It was less so through the telepathic link and more so a change in the air. As if the being had turned into a miniature star that cast its pleasant rays down upon him. As this happened the wind picked up and rustled the leaves, adding to the serene feeling. The wind sweeping through the trees almost reminded him of faraway voices singing a song. A song he could not quite make out. As if it was only an echo of something happening far away.

The moment lasted for a while. It felt good what the being showed him. But the change came quickly and unexpectedly. From darkness and warmth and pleasant winds the scene turned dim and gray. The trees cast long and threatening shadows across the clearing and a blood moon rose as the night grew darker. Finn did not understand completely. Why had the scene changed? What had happened to the being? Had she lived through tragedy? Had her life suddenly turned for the worse?

It all became clear when a feeling of loss washed over him. He recognized the feeling all to well. The lack of hope that went with it, the dread full fear of never seeing a loved one ever again. Finn understood that the being had lost someone. Someone close and very dear to it. Now it struggled to cope with the situation.
Was that the reason they had formed this strange bond? The similar feelings of loss they carried inside? Possibly. Only the force new.

Finn tried to send back a feeling of understanding and one of encouragement. “You are not alone. If you feel that way, simply dream yourself away to this place.” He thought and that he knew was enough to also send the aforementioned feelings through their telepathic connection. He hoped their connection would keep growing as it had and maybe someday allow for a more concrete conversation.
