Still, bottom line: NK has been communist since, like, the Korean War. -_-

No.

Why do people confuse the two?

NK is not Communist. There has never truly been a communist Society.

They may claim to be but I could claim to do Megan Foxx every night but that's doesn't make it true.

So how do you know this? Have you been to NK? I mean, I myself cannot say for certain whatever they are as I myself have never been there. I don't know exactly how life is controlled there. They've been labeled as communist for a long, long time and I'm just gonna go with the books until proven otherwise.

A True communist society is a country where there is no money, no army, and no one works for money as there is none and there is no need. Everyone bands together to help everyone as a group, there is no individual only the group.

Sounds like North Korea down to a T fo'sho

Because if you read about North Korea you'll see that they call themselves a "Socialist Republic."

It doesn't really matter what form of government ****ed the north koreans over. what matters is that they are ****ed over. I wouldn't be more or less appalled at Kim if he was a congressman, or a member of parliment, or a king, or a dictator, or anything else. the sole thing we should be concerned with is that this dude is running his people to the groundddddd.

THey sell human meat in markets in NK because there is a food shortage. HUmans are sold as pig.

Kim Jong Il has nukes and is very close to having long-range missile capabilities. He is a potential agent of World War 3 and I don't know about you, but if some jackass who hates the free world with a passion has the means and motives to end it all is tolerated, much less defended, there's a problem.

EDIT- Storm, there's a difference between 'no ones ever content' and 'North Korean's are starving and dying without ever having known freedom'. As long as NK is a part of the UN, then the UN has a right and even more so, a responsibility, to get rid of Kim Jong Il. He's a dangerous despot and HORRIBLE for his country. The only reason the NK people haven't rebelled is that they and the 20 closest people to them are KILLED and/or TORTURED.

And you're defending him?

The UN has the right to remove Kim, but they'd piss around with the whole system there, implant democracy and so forth, which is where I have the problem.

Storm, people in North Korea are starving, and people are dying trying to flee the country.
This is the modern USSR, and Kim is Stalin re-incarnate. Shouldn't you be joyous and defect over any second now?

Uh, no, this isn't the modern USSR.

I love the fact Storm that you supposedly had family members in Gulags who's only crime was to speak out a fundamental right you are exercising right now over the internet and your only response to it is well oh well that is the law.

They weren't direct relatives, no. I never met them, therefore all they are to me is names of distant cousins. They were very few in number, so it's all pretty meh.

People, people.... COMMUNISM = forced rule and brainwashing. You think they're happy but they really aren't. Their way of life is pretty much forced. Now tell me your happy being forced into a shitty life by a crazy and shitty leader with no way out?

It really isn't. Do you have any idea what true Communism, or Communism as we've seen so far is?

The US has every right to attack North Korea if North Korea continue there aggressive action.

If he continues to posture, increase funding and research in Nuclear weapons and threatens Japan/America/South Korea then there damn well entitled to remove the ****er.

I agree with you but for different reasons.

If he's a definite international threat, yes.

But, at the moment, he's not threatened anyone.

There firing missiles over Japan, they ended the 50 year truce with the south and threatened to attack the south if the yanks searched there ships thought to be carrying dodgy stuff.

Yeah, but that puts the ball in America's court. That's not saying WE'RE ATTACKING YOU SOUTHERNERS REGARDLESS.

I'd love to know what your definition of threatening is Tom

Give us this/do what we want/etc. or we'll blow you shitless.
We're going to blow you shitless.
Please may we blow you shitless?

If I come up and Sparta kick you in the chest, I'm only threatening you? lol

lol, that would be hilarious.

Seriously? It's a "meh" to you that your family members were imprisoned, suffered and died because they were open-minded and didn't want to be slaves to a thought-controlling state? That is sad.

Also, the fact that North Koreans are dying as they try to escape the prison-state of NK completely proves that they are not happy with their govenrment, imo.

They're pretty distant, and of course I feel a degree of sadness.

It's just not the same as if, say, my father, grandfather, uncle, etc. etc. were in that position.

I feel sorry that they weren't happy with the state they were in, and that they died, just not to a major degree.

EDIT: To be fair, I don't know that much about them. They're not much publicised within my family, for obvious reasons.
