DESCRIPTION
The Nightshade is an sleek, twin-hulled pinnace manufactured by the Imperial Fleet Works corporation specially for use by the upper echelons of the Sith Empire. Roughly equivalent to the Jedi SP1 Starstorm, the type is meant as a combat-capable personal conveyance, comparable in armament and maneuverability to a starfighter, but able to carry up to 2 passengers in addition to its pilot and up to 500 kilograms of cargo. Pilot and passenger accommodations are located in the port (left) hull, while cargo is typically stored in the starboard (right); both hulls can be accessed in flight through a narrow crawlspace in the connecting wing.

The Nightshade, in keeping with its appearance, is a formidable craft. Based loosely on an ancient Ossein design, the type is equipped with a pair of light laser cannons and a 3-shot concussion missile launcher. It possesses both a hyperdrive and light shielding, although it does suffer somewhat in terms of speed, about 80 MGLT, compared to the 90 many starfighters can achieve. With an experience pilot at the controls, however, the Nightshade can effectively tangle with most opponents it is likely to meet.

Nightshades, owing to their capabilities, are often used by Sith Lords and other higher-ups within the Empire to perform personal errands. They are ideal for carrying small, high-value cargoes and VIPs. They are generally well liked by their Sith pilots, and many will personalize and modify their craft to suit their tastes and requirements.

LEGALITY
Restricted. In civilized systems, pilots must be properly licensed or be members of recognized armed groups.

INTENT
To create an advanced pinnace-type vessel for use by high-ranking Imperials.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes. Nightshade-class pinnaces are extremely rare, and it would require a plot for a character to earn, steal or otherwise acquire one.
