Open Chandrila Night at the Museum

[Nicolas Clément]

Hanna City, Chandrilia

Sunsets and light fades on Chandrilia, one of the main worlds of the Free World Alliance and very influential world in the New Republic and Free Worlds Alliance. The famous Hanna City Museum of of History is hosting a fundraiser for various good causes for the damage caused by the conflict, and it's curators have invited the senators of the Free Worlds to attend and other dignitaries and VIPs. It's a black tie event. Naturally, recently elected Senator of New Alderaan would be there. It's a good cause sure and it's good for Nicolas to attend on that, but also with other senators expected to be there he would like to mingle get to know the other senators and establish some rapport among them. That would be helpful for later.

The free drinks are nice however.

Wearing a nice suit fitting for a black-tie event, Nicolas would have arrived not too long ago, quite a bit of other people in attendance, basically all of them are unfamiliar faces. The museum itself is very fancy and elegant and pristine, par the course for Chandrila. Nicolas Clément would be right now in the lobby - where most of the poeple would be - getting a beverage, they have an assortment of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. After getting his beverage, a Corellian brandy, he would start stroll around the lobby aimlessly, while taking a sip of his drink here.... There is music, but it's faint against the murmuring of the other attendants.

[Tycho Berand]

Tycho Berand rolled his shoulders once more that day, as he stepped into museum. His adventure on Sullust had left him surprisingly sore. Apparently running for your life was a decent exercise. As he walked he noted one of his personal security nodding to him and he nodded back. Supposedly the building was safe enough at least. One more worry in the galaxy down, an infinite amount still left over. Now he just had to make it through the next few hours without losing his mind. He had become a senator to hopefully help the galaxy; attending every ball, gala, and dinner that senators threw that supposedly were where politics actually took place was just the torture that came with it.

He approached the bar first and signaled to the bartender. "Water, please." The bartender gave him a look and responded. "The drinks tonight are free sir." Tycho smiled. "I'm aware. Not a fan of alcohol." The bartender shrugged and handed him the glass. Tycho placed down a credit chip for a tip and stepped away, looking around to see who he should talk to. He was a rather new senator to the scene himself, but it seemed like there were plenty of others as well this term. Supposedly there was a senator out there who had barely been old enough to graduate college.

Finally seeing someone he recognized, Tycho made his way through the crowd until he was behind the freshly elected senator of New Alderaan. He brought a hand to the senator's shoulder, attemtping to get the man's attention. "Clement? Correct? Senator of New Alderaan?" His hand shot out, waiting for the other senator to shake hands. "Senator Berand, Ord Tindell. Very nice to meet you. Always glad to see New Alderaan continuing to prosper."

[Siria Zale]

The powerful engines of the airspeeder would come in for a landing at the Museum's arrival point. Its doors slide open smoothly after it came to a stop to reveal the young senator stepping out on one side. The young Senator wore a blue dress that both matched a particular point during the sun's setting as well as be timeless for the rest of the evening. She knew its color and detailing complimented her complexion and eyes.

On the passenger's side of the airspeeder, trying to come out with some difficulty, was Siria's protocol droid. The machine struggled to get out of the sporty design. The metalic red droid had a luster to its outer surface but kept to a respectable attendant distance behind the Senator. TC-1138 took in the other senators and was already preparing the titles and names of the other Senators incase Siria paused and needed a reminder. <"good heavens."> it exclaimed before managing to right itself and follow get around the vehicle.

Waiting for the droid, Siria would look around, appreciating the architecture of the museum and waving with a smile at a few people she recognized. Before too long the Senator of Tirhann found her way into the lobby of the museum. She would stand in the open area for a moment, turning on her heel under her dress for a moment with her lips pressed together and quirked to the side. It was a face her mother told her was not very lady like.

The Senator was new to the this whole thing compared some people here who had decades of experience. That aspect seem magnified as she watched some circles talk with one another with familiarity. A server came by with a few glasses and paused in front of her. Gracefully taking a glass and then eyeing the droid to move on, Siria would refrain from drinking from the glass at first. When the droid left she would move a little further into the room and making her way to look at the first exhibit.

[Nicolas Clément]

Nicolas smiled when the other senator started a conversation with him, he seems really nice. The New Alderaanian didn't know he was popular enough others would recongize him on-sight. Nicolas would smile and nod towards the other "Yeah, that's me. Nicolas Clément" He introduced himself. "But you can just call me Nick" he said, he's an easy going, casual person who doesn't like to be so formal, a shorten form of his last name is fine. "And thank you. thank you. Nice to meet you as well Senator Berand." he paused as he took a sip of his drink. The taller man would then "How are you enjoying the event?" he'd ask the other person to make slow, casual conversation towards the Ord Tidellan.

After he spoke, he did see a nice young white-haired woman (@Darasuum), looks like she could be an echani, she looks different from everyone else. Might be, Nicolas isn't knowledgable to know who she is, but she loo. Nicolas would smile and nod towards her as she is making her way elsewhere, probably to one of the exhibits.

[Tycho Berand]

Tycho raised his glass to take a sip before answering the younger senator. "Truth be told? Not at all. But its expected of me to be here, so here I am. I would much rather be back at my office working. A lot of things happening in the galaxy these days. Instead of being here acting as if everything is going perfectly fine we should be in session deliberating. The galaxy is on the edge of war. We stand here talking politely, sipping whiskey, instead of dealing with the problem." Tycho cut himself short. Realizing the fellow senator likely didn't want to hear Tycho be a salty bastard all night. "Sorry. Old age tends to make us quick to speak our minds when people don't actually want to hear it."

He sighed and took a sip from his drink once more. Looking around. "Tell me about yourself. All I have to go off of is what the news tells me. That and the rumors that my staff tell me. Nothing bad I assure you. Actually a relief for once honestly." Tycho took the opportunity to take another sip of his drink. He followed the gaze of Nicolas, noticing a woman with white hair in the back. His mind went through the people he knew but he didn't recognize this one, but of course he couldn't know all the senators.

[Nicolas Clément]

Nicolas can understand how he feels about rather actually working than doing things like this. Not everyone will be a fan of everything he supposes and that's fine.

Now Tycho would like him to talk more about himself, now where to begin, Nicolas thinks he's quite a boring person if he had to be honest. "Well that's reassuring" he snickered. "Well, not much to say about me." he was scratching the back of his head. "Well, my grandparents were minor nobles on Alderaan before it was... yeah." he grimaced, Tycho probably knows what goes after that no doubt. "Even though they lost everything, they were survivors. They along with many others sought refuge in the Outer Rim, and that's how New Alderaan was made." he took a sip of his drink. "And as for me, I was born in New Alderaa. Normal childhood, nothing really out of the ordinary I think. There was a time where I didn't really know what to do after getting out of school, took me a bit of figuring out, then found out that I want to help make New Alderaan a better place, the galaxy too." He said.

"What about you? He would ask the same of his Ord Tindell counterpart.

Tycho grimaced as his fellow senator punted the conversation back to himself. "I'm not interesting at all. Born on Ord Tindell, father was a pilot in the Ord Tindell Navy flying X-Wings along our borders. Mother stayed at home raising me. Decided when I was young to follow in his foot steps." He conspicuously avoided bringing how exactly his father died, he felt a small twinge of emotion of at the events. Even decades later it still hurt sometimes. "Managed to get myself into an X-Wing, fly the same routes he did, turned out I was good at it, as many pirates found out. Unfortunately being good at your job in the Navy means you end up flying a desk instead of an X-Wing and I ended up in an intelligence assignment. Did a few classified things" He never hid the that fact, it would be obvious to anyone looking into his history that what he was doing in his intelligence assignment may not have actually been intelligence work when they saw the amount of redacted assignments he had received. "I saw the galaxy at its worst and realized I couldn't change much from the seat of an X-Wing. So I retired and became a Senator. Besides, not getting shot at has its perks."

As they talked he slowly made his way towards the exhibit, where the white haired senator was waiting. He was very interested in meeting her. He wanted to get a read on her, what moved her to become a senator, what she was likely to vote for in the Senate.

[Siria Zale]

Catching the eye of one of the other attendees, she smiled back pleasantly. A small nod came from the Senator. I think that's Nicholas Clement. That's not how I saw it spelled on the holonet though. More thoughts about names and titles came to Siria as she walked around.

The first few minutes would have the woman speaking to her protocol droid, reminding herself of names. "It's not like anybody's going to ask you to spell their name." But as a public figure she needed to make sure she knew what she was talking about. At the very basic level, she hoped she knew all of her peers. If not, she would make an effort to try.

Siria took a calming breath as TC kindly led her to the side before its auxiliary parts came to a stop. "Oh my circuits! Senator, do you know what that is?" The droid's vocabulator came off as more excitable than usual. The blue irises rose from the nearest pottery display to follow the pointing hand of the TC-1138. Across the way she saw the mounted and supported exhibit. It was far from small, Siria was surprised she hadn't noticed it until now. It was an almost crustacean looking like creature but the woman knew well enough from her history books. "That's a a basilisk war droid if I'm not mistaken."

A few other guests turned to look at the focus of the nearby relative rowdiness. Siria chuckled, and nodded slowly. "Oh yeah." Ironically she knew it sounded like the Mando'a cheer 'oya', albeit, far calmer. Making her way towards it, it wasn't long before others were also keen on getting a look at the subject. On the back of the ferocious looking machine, was a matching set of Mandalorian armor made to look like it was riding the war droid.

[Nicolas Clément]

Oh, he was a starfighter pilot? Nicolas smiled, that sounds like it can be fun. Nicolas has only been a passenger in various kinds of transports. Flying a starfighter at very high speeds with military grade weaponary sounds like it would be a blast, metaphorically and literally. "I see" Nicolas said. And he did intelligence work? That's classified and thus can't share? Very interesting indeed. "Well, being a starfighter pilot and secret agent is already way more interesting than what I got." he snickered. It's true, just partying from his younger days, then becoming a career politician after that due to reasons he'd rather not explain given this setting. "And yeah, not being shot at must be a relief. " he joked. "And thank you for your service" he would nod towards him, he meant that.

Tycho was heading towards what was the Mandalorian exhibit it looks like, where the white-haired woman was at, he's probably looking to socialize with her. Nicolas wouldn't mind meeting her too, so he would stroll along with his Ord Tindell counterpart. "Hey there" he would say when he would get into talking distance of her (@Darasuum) and then wave his hand. She stands out as well, young, white haired. Is she an Echani? He wasn't the best with names as a newcomer, but could that be a senator for Eshan? Maybe. But he doesn't see those every day in person.
