As of now the Senate looks like the most popular faction for the new timeline.

That is a good thing.

I am sorry if this was asked before, but will people be allowed to form political parties in the senate? The parties could be considered "sub" factions, but not in a traditional sense. They wouldn't have resources or armies of course.

I don't see any reason why that wouldn't be allowed. In fact, that's something that SHOULD happen if we get enough people to RP senators. Great idea dude!

Doesn't really need to be a sub faction with a name because it's going to happen anyway. Senators will ally with other likeminded Senators to garner favor and support. That is what the faction already is...that's politics.

Just play your Senator and do your thing. Everything else will fall into place. Labeling senators as this party affiliate or that party affiliate spoils things. Better for people to just experience it first hand and learn the hard way.

If you're labeled as party A and you tell someone from party B that you'll side with them, they'll know you're probably full of druk. If there are no labels that list said Senator as this or that it will make things a lot more interesting.

If I am from party A and I tell someone from party B that I will vote with them on an issue, and I don't, then that party would no longer trust me. Me being a part of a party and doing it or me being by myself makes no difference. They would not trust me regardless of my party affiliation, since I lied to them.

Party markers help divide the senate into groups, which happens everywhere, even in real life. Look at every democratic country; they all have political parties that work with the local populace in getting bills written, laws taken care of, and leadership elected. You can imagine that during the Clone Wars, there were probably two separate political parties; those that agreed with Chancellor Palpatine, and those that were against him.

I honestly imagine that there will only be two major political parties when this timeline starts. There will be Hawks and Doves on the Senate floor, and they will argue against either strengthening the Border Alliance, or ignoring its pleas and focusing on ensuring peace and prosperity.

My point is simply that there is no reason for sub factions or labeling because as you said, this is just politics. It's unavoidable. No need to label everyone. Let the noob Senator that just entered the Senate do his homework and figure out who supports who without looking at some OOC thread that says who supports what.

I want to make a sub-faction of a political sub-faction that controls a smaller, splinter-faction within the sub-faction's sub-faction.

That could very well happen.

I for one, and I probably will get disapproval for saying this, am glad the Mandolorians may not be a main faction. Believe me, they are cool, but honestly, I feel like every roleplay site I've seen has them and they end up causing more trouble then anything else. Too many people create one JUST to create one, and they end up becoming a thorn rather then helping the story along. It's nice to see the main factions being the Republic and the Empire once again. I'm not sure what the other factions may be, but I hope the Mando's are kept at a minimum at best.

Even though I agree, yeah... Somethings are just better left unsaid.

Just leave it alone. Lol

I'm not a fan of Mandos or anything to do with the "Old Republic" timeline in general. It's really just a huge circle jerk around Revan and that really crappy 'immortal Emperor' story-line TOR had running at one point.

I'm hoping they aren't a big faction either, especially since this timeline seems to be closer to the Hyperspace Wars (or whatever Disney has labeled/would label this era to be) and a lot of the major players simply didn't exist.

Agreed. I'm more of a Rebellion Era guy myself. more saturated with pilots, soldiers, and shady characters.

Gotta be honest, though I wasn't fond of the movies, I absolutely love the Clone Wars Era. It's so clean and pretty to the point you can actually see the Republic slowly fall down around itself. And I love the droids.

...But the clones can only be used for war! You can use the droids for anything.

Anything.
